It's often ...Your card making sounds like mine. It's often hard to decide when enough is enough. In my case though, I tend to go for not quite enough and it often seems to be missing "something". I do think the recipient of this card will be thrilled with it. It has a lot of cute details. I like the button/bows and that adorable image.<br /><br />I learned my pattern mixing when I was a quilter trying to find pleasing combos of patterned fabric. The main key I think is to use only one multi-colored print. For the other prints, choose something more monochromatic that pulls a color out of the main print. Also keep scale in mind. If you have a large print, make the other prints you choose be either small or medium. Also, mix up the types of patterns. If you use a floral, pair that with a stripe or dot for contrast. <br /><br />If you don't mind a little constructive criticism (and I hate the word criticism because I'm not putting your work down), I think why your card looks busy is because the two prints you chose are both multicolored and the same combo of colors. And both have about the same scale (size of the design elements) which compete for attention. I think that if you re-created this card and, leaving all other elements the same, just changed out the heart paper with something more monochromatic and with a smaller print (like small pink dots on a pink background) that it would make your image stand out more because there wouldn't be any bold pattern around the image to take your eye away from that focal point and the monochromatic paper wouldn't compete with the sentiment pattern next to it.Susan (peebsmama)https://www.blogger.com/profile/04685117319252711640noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1938369753753381325.post-28942869359695327022010-01-15T23:00:27.063-06:002010-01-15T23:00:27.063-06:00That image is darling.
