Snowman Love

I LOVE snowmen! I love everything about snowmen! In my house at Christmas you will find snowmen ornaments, snowmen globes, snowmen stockings, snowmen figurines....you name it and I think I've got it! HOWEVER, this is my very first snowman card! Yep, sad but true. The reason is that I do not know how to do the shadowing on a snowman....so I've never stamped one! This is a free digi from Designed2Delight and I decided I COULD do this. After printing him out several times and attempting to do the shadowing, etc. on him I finally just decided this is going to be a VERY WHITE snowman-no shadows! But isn't this a cute image with him holding the little heart!

The layout for this is from Truly Scrumptious Challenges. Fabulous sketch. I used Brocade Blue (going to miss that one), Bashful Blue, White, and some Paper Studio DP. The snowflakes that are stamped around this little guy were done with a PSX very small snowflake stamp. I also used the Square Lattice embossing folder, Nestie (Labels 1), brads, SU markers, dimensionals, and ribbon. The little heart was stamped and then stamped again and "popped" up.

Maybe this little card will cool everyone off with it being so hot outside. We're already up to 99 degrees and it's not even 3:00 p.m.! Yikes!

Thanks for stopping by.................
Lynn

  9. Regardless, he's too cute. Love the ribbon and the popped-up heart. Looks to me like you got shading around the bottom. Use the same light blue and just touch areas (following the artist's lines) and add a little. You are definitely on the right track.

  10. He's too cute!! Love the layers of pp/embossing you did!! The card even feels a little chilly (in a good way!)
Love the ribbon work too :)
I have a hard time w/ the shadowing too but maybe a very light blue or light grey down the left side of his body might give you enough shadow.

  11. This snowman is just so cute, you even have me working on him, I agree shading is not so easy with this little guy. I giggled at the yellow scarf, since mine is yellow as well, recommended by my DD. You did a great job with the card and Mr. Snowman.

  15. Love snowmen! Love this card, you did a great job with this image. If you want to make the snowman pop a little more just go around the image with a light grey marker, it really makes the white stand out.

  25. Maybe you love snowmen because where you live you don't get much (if any) snow. I like images of snowmen but I can live without the real thing. I mean... if there is enough snow to make a snowman then it's also winter and cold and yuck!

I too have a hard time deciding how to color images that are supposed to be white (like snowmen or polar bears, etc). I tend to just color just inside the line with a light colored marker - sometimes with success, sometimes they go in the recycle bin.

I like how you left yours white and gave the card some pizzaz with the layout, embossing folder and ribbon treatment.

  26. Adorable! I love the way you folded your ribbon accent and added texture to the snowman's heart. My dog is named Truly Scrumptious and she's on my blog post today! How funny, I'll have to check out that TS challenge that you mentioned. :)
