Howdy

I'm so excited to announce that I'm a digi Guest Designer for Firecracker Designs by Pamela for the month of October!!! What a wonderful store Pamela has. Check it out and you'll see all the digital images, plus red rubber and clear stamps. There's a big sale going on right now as the store will be closing soon (sadly), so pop over there and take a look. Also, go take a look at Pamela's blog! Fantastic!

This little cowboy image, star, and the "howdy" sentiment are from the Cowboy Roundup set at Firecracker Designs. The set has several little cowboy images and sentiments. I used some Night of Navy, Riding Hood Red, Soft Suede, and Very Vanilla card stock. The patterned paper is from CTMH. I colored this little guy with SU markers and a couple of Copics. After completing the card, layering, piercing, etc....I felt it just needed a little something extra. That's when I remembered I had some burlap left over from using in a deer blind! So I frayed part of it and also added that to give it a "rustic" look.

Just a very short story here about the "howdy" part. When my son first started college at Texas A & M University we made a trip to visit. As we walked around the campus and passed students, they all said "howdy"! Not hi, hello, or anything except "howdy"! My son greeted everybody the same way. We found out that was one of the traditions of the school. By the time we left there I thought if I ever heard another person say "howdy" in my life, I would just strangle them!!! So before anyone asks.....no, we do not all greet each other with "howdy" here in Texas!

Thanks for stopping by.................

Lynn

  1. Ok, now that I have stopped giggle because that is what everyone thinks, we say howdy and all were bluejeans and cowboy boots. Ok, I have the boots but don't wear them year round. Now CONGRATS!!!! I am so happy for you being a guest designer, it is well deserved you have the best cards ever. Love today's card and the burlap was a perfect touch. I think I will hop over the Firecracker I have not heard of that one. Have the best weekend.

  6. Your post cracks me up! I am from NY and all of my friends and family think we say "howdy" all the time. So I say it, occasionally...to be sassy! Your card is fabulous! That adorable image, the burlap and the star brad are so...well, TEXAN! :) Love it! :)

  10. Congrats on your DT selection.

You pulled in so many western themed elements with the plaid paper, suede colored paper, piercing, stars and especially the very clever use of the burlap.

At least the people at the campus were friendly even if they were adding to the Texas stereotype.
