White is Not White

White is NOT white!  Ok, so this is white card stock and a white doily (gotta love the cake decorating section at Wally World!).  In the store, it really looked so white - slapped it on a card and it's not bad.  Took a picture and yikes!!!  Not white at all it seems!  So typical of something I'd do!

White card stock, not so white doily, red poinsettia with SB die, a bit of Wink of Stella clear,  gold glitter enamel dot for the center, and gold embossed sentiment.  That's it for today because I've just basically been worthless for the past couple of days and haven't been crafting much.  Sad, I know!

I'll enter this in Pixie's Crafty Workshop (snippets) and A Gem of a Challenge (Clean and Simple).

Thanks for stopping by.........
Lynn

  2. HA! i definitely understand the "white isn't white" phenomenon, having decided to decorate out master bedroom thusly, from matching the ceiling paint to ordering furniture, to buying sheets & accessories... forget 50 shades of grey, there must be 1,000 shades of white and i have ALL of them in that room!!! which brings me to my point: the whites don't have to match exactly to look AWESOME as you have proven so aptly here. plus WOW look at that poinsettia!!! <3

  7. Whites never ever ever ever match. Ever. Sigh. I've just given in & decided it's on purpose, lol :) This is a beauty - so much texture & the red absolutely pops!
It's recharging time - at least that's how I look at those days with long naps :)

  11. Lynn this is stunning - no matter that the whites don't 'match', it just makes the doily more visible :-) Love the gold centre to your poinsettia.

  15. I think if the white doily was the exact same as the card you would loose the definition. The red of he poinsettia is a lovely contrast. Hugs Mrs A.

  19. Go with the flow! If it was exactly the same white as your CS, you wouldn't be able to see it properly, would ya.

  21. White is the most difficult color to match, so I wouldn't worry! The slight contrast makes the doily more visible and the gold compliments the whites and beautiful red flower perfectly! Gorgeous card!

  23. Gorgeous Lynn - the very slight differences in whites always adds something to a card I think - certainly when it's a lovely design like this one! Love the poinsettia too!

  24. Think of it as "dimension" or "texture" instead of "not so white" and it'll be fine, Lynn! lol It's beautiful, in any case. Love the simple design and the way it make the poinsettia just pop.

  25. The doily probably stands out better because it is a different shade of white! Isn't it amazing how many shades of white there are? Love the pop of the beautiful red poinsettia on all that white and the touches of gold!

  28. When my hubby is painting he will ask me if he is doing the ceiling white. I say yeah, and he says UGH! Want ceiling white, or do I get a chart. So no, white is not white. Lovely card, but why do things have to get so complicated....LOL! If they would say off white then I would expect anything. Right? Okay, I just blathered.

  31. They say the camera doesn't lie but it DOES! Well it does when it comes to whites anyway! The brightness of the poinsettia against the doily is gorgeous! Vicky x

  32. Looks pristine white to me girl! Actually I always think it looks better when the whites are just a shade different in the colors, but this doesn't look that different in your picture. I see that rich red (love the layers)flower against that lacey doily and then the bright gold of the sentiment. A beautiful card IMHO. TFS & Hugs

  34. Very elegant! If this is you being worthless....SERIOUSLY - this is awesome!!! Going to have to Google that poinsettia die! Hello Amazon wish list! BTW I know what you mean by WHAT???!!!! You finish a card...it is perfect! THEN the camera image points out some GLARING flaw or decides to go with a perfectly UNFLATTERING Pantone color!!! Blues that now look purple...Pinks that look like over-washed MAUVE.... It's the REAL LIFE thing that matters! This is stunning virtually and in reality!
