Joyful Wreath

Blogger threw me for another loop yesterday so you may have already seen a little sneak peek of this card.  No matter though - it's just one more card for Christmas.

I always look for one design/stamp to use for Christmas cards and make several of them.  This was what I was going to use for this year - however......

I stamped out the Stampendous wreath, took 48 hours to get it colored, and then realized I didn't have any gold paper.  Did some heat embossing around the edges of the panel to make it gold and mounted the wreath on that.  Of course, during the process I got gold embossing powder all over the Versmark ink pad!   Stamped the sentiment, smeared it, and started over.  Finally got the sentiment right, added some Wink of Stella to the wreath and it's a done deal.

Needless to say after working on this one card for approximately 5 days I ditched the great idea for mass production.

Thanks for stopping by..........and have a great weekend.
Lynn

  4. Five days worth of BEAUTY! It came out gorgeous. I know what you mean though, I've had many experiences just like yours with some card that I thought would be kind of simple to make only to have it end up being so complicated. Just save this one for someone very special. Have a good weekend.

  7. Oh Lynn!! You are just too funny! I can totally relate! Never fails that I will get an idea in my head and then it never works out quite the right way! I have trouble with smearing the stamps or putting too much glossy accents on or missing a spot! Yikes! Why do we torture ourselves?? Your card, however, is absolutely gorgeous! The colors in the wreath, the pine cones and that gorgeous red bow! I love your card!!

  10. Bwahaha---5 days on a card? Now I don't feel so bad! For a CAS card, this may have taken more time than you ever expected, but I love how it turned out! Great coloring on that wreath with all the golden accents! NJ!

  14. Pretty image, and love the great coloring - impressive save on the 'gold fix'. Looks just great. Brave you to do these for many cards, as that's a lot of coloring. That lush red bow looks wonderful topping this wreath. Good JOB! TFS & Hugs.

  15. Love the card, Lynn, but even more I love how you tell the story! :-D I don't know that I've ever had a 5 DAY card but I've certainly have a lot that just went sideways so I know your frustration. The gold embossing did work well, though, despite the problems. The wreath is beautiful, even if you don't want to spend that much time coloring it for mass production. :D

  16. Beautiful card Lynn - but I can understand you not wanting to mass produce this one. My versamark pad is looking the worse for wear after an encounter with gold ep too!

  25. Lovely card! I thought that I was the only one who would spend 5 days on one card! All your effort was definitely worth it. I still feel like I'm taking too long on my Christmas cards. I tried to go simple and each card has been taking me at least an hour to do.
