Cooler Weather

Well, it's another HOT day here in Texas and it got even hotter when hubby decided to re-do the electricity outside - something regarding him running his saws, nail guns, etc... So at 10:00 a.m. he says he's going to cut off the electricity in order to work on this - but it will only take a few minutes! YEAH RIGHT!!!! At about 1:00 this afternoon we finally had electricity (and AC) back in the house! Whew. It was almost cooler outside!!! I kept thinking "hey, I'm ok. I didn't grow up with AC in my house"! Wrong! I was really getting "not ok"! Isn't it terrible how we depend on little things like AC! Anyway......

This card reflects a little cooler weather. The image is from the Countryside set from SU! Such a peaceful image. LOVE the old pickup - it reminds me of one my father had. I used Cherry Cobbler and some textured chocolate brown on this. It's colored with Prismacolor pencils and the background is sponged with Kraft. The buttons are extremely old. Several years ago I bought an old Mason jar in an antique store and it was filled with very old buttons. Some of them are just so different than anything I've ever seen before. I paper pierced the top and bottom (Cherry Cobbler), but you really can't see it in the photo. I think this would make a great "guy" card for Birthday, Father's Day, or just because.
This is for Always Playing With Paper challenge - the theme being Vintage and for a challenge at Pals Paper Arts - the theme being Masculine. Vintage, to me, means something very old and rustic looking - I think the pickup and the old buttons qualify.

Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend.......

Thanks for stopping by.............

Lynn

  1. Great job, love this stamp, but I don't have it, so will have to live through you. Cherry Cobbler and Chocolate Chip are perfect for this. Great job. Men are funny aren't they? They pick the funniest times to do things. I agree, I need my A/C.

  4. I really like how you kept the coloring on the truck subtle except for the bright apples. I have a lot of vintage buttons too. Well... I don't know if I can call them vintage if I bought them myself and have just held on to them for 25+ years :-)
