Not an Easel Card

Everyone does these wonderful easel cards, so I thought - hey, I can do that too! I actually DID one with this image, etc. and it turned out very nice. I kept wondering though if the recipient was going to figure out how to stand it up and all. I finally decided to just go ahead with it and sat down to take a few photos so I could post it here. THIS is where the problem started! I think I took about twenty pictures of the card and they all looked FAT, FAT, FAT! No matter what angle I photographed it from it still looked FAT! We're talking like about 500 pounds FAT too. So............I ditched that and made this card (extremely CAS) instead. I really like it even though, as I said, it's super CAS.

The image is from Snow Swirled (SU). I heat embossed it with the Egyptian Gold (Judikins) embossing powder. The gold ribbon I used had these little swirls in it and it really matched the image. Even still, the photo looks a little fat - although not the 500 pound kind.

This is for the following challenges:
Creative Inspirations Paint - inspired by the Midas Touch
The Paper Players - wet embossing.

Thanks for stopping by..............

  3. Wow Lynn, simply love this card... so STYLISH and so POSH and classy. Must be one of your BEST cards! Clean and simple things somehow always spell class.

I, too am trying my hand at heat embossing... tried it with pigment inks - did not work! So Zeenya insisted I get an embossing ink pad and it WORKED! Am so chuffed!

  5. GORGEOUS!!! That red and gold are making me swoon! I LOVE "Snow Swirled" and have used it to make my Christmas cards the past two years. I had to refrain from doing so again this year, lol!

  7. Lynn, another amazing card. I love your color choices. The bow, the double layer ribbon and the bling on the Christmas tree all make it a stunning card. You know I love the CAS feel. Wonderful!
I hear you on the easel cards.. I am never sure if the recipient will think I've gone nuts and given them a puzzle they have to solve :-)
So glad you joined the Paper Players again this week.

  8. lol - a fat card! I hope it's feelings weren't hurt! Well, this one is so pretty. I think the last time you did gold embossing I said I would have to run out and get some and I forgot. Thanks for the reminder with this beauty!!!

  9. The card probably wasn't really that fat. Remember the saying, the camera adds 10 lbs.

This is really elegant and gorgeous and although it may be a CAS design there is nothing simple looking about it.

I haven't attempted any fancy folded cards myself and just for the reason you mentioned. I wasn't sure if the recipient would understand how the card was meant to open/stand. And it seemed odd to have to send instructions on how to open a card.

  12. Lovely card, love the colors you chose for it and that is one of my favorites, had it in my hand today :) The ribbon is gorgeous with the embossing, beautiful job. I am sure your easel card was just as beautiful, sometimes my clothes make me look fat also, of course I threaten my cat with Kitty Weight Watchers. :)

  14. Lynn, this is gorgeous!! I love the layers, the gold embossing and that perfect bow. (You used my favorite Snow Swirled set, too!) For the record, there are NO fat cards, Lynn! They are just "pleasantly plump"! Heehee! I know how you feel about easel cards though. I love them but I hesitate to make them for the same reasons. What if one of my non-crafty friends opens it up and says "This is odd...what do I DO with this?" Thanks for joining The Paper Players! Love it! :)
