Recycling Toilet Paper

I love my husband....I really truly do!  However, there are times.....................

I usually do all the grocery shopping although he sometimes tags along.  I have to walk behind him in the store so I can take out some of the things he puts in the basket and put them back on the shelf (you know, like you have to do with your children!) but he thinks he's a big help.
Anyway, the other day he was in town and called to see if we needed anything at the store.  I gave him a short list of eggs, milk, etc. and specifically said to NOT get anything else! LOL!  He came home a while later with all the items on the list - AND toilet paper.  Here's what took place:

Jim:  I found a GREAT deal on toilet paper today.  It was only 99 cents for 8 rolls!
Lynn:  BIG eye roll here..........um, I've never gotten that brand before and not sure how good it'll be (trying to be so nice)
(Now if you do any grocery shopping at all you know you can't get decent toilet paper for 99 cents!!)
Jim:  Well, I'm sure it'll be ok - I mean it's better than using newspaper, right?
Lynn:  The newspaper MAY actually be better - but we'll see.
Fast forward to several days later...............
Jim:  Maybe I should just let you get the toilet paper in the future!!!!
Yikes!

So I'm now trying to think of ways to recycle toilet paper!!!  Any ideas out there?   I made a flower and it actually came out pretty cute but just didn't look right on this card.  Any ideas would be appreciated!

Thanks for stopping by..........and remember to smile!
Lynn

  6. LOL! Great post today Lynn! Love the card, so perfect for your story! Isn't there a technique for putting layers of TP on a rubber stamp, wetting it to mold into the rubber and then letting it dry? Something like that!

  7. Oh, I am so laughing and enjoying another funny Friday! Maybe you can just recycle the tubes into something? I've seen gorgeous Christmas tree ornaments and even some made to look like candles. Love the card, Lynn! A perfect match to the story. LOL

  10. ROFLMAO!!! Lynn, you're hysterical the way you tell a good story :) This card just completely cracked me up after reading your story! LOL
If you can't use the toilet tissue, you can always crochet toilet paper covers around them, and give them to your friends for gifts!!! Who'd know?!!
Maybe you can dip them in lacquer and use them for doorstops????
Have a great weekend and thanks for the chuckles :)

  11. I am laughing so hard right now! Perfect card to commemorate his bargain find. I love that paper with the big circles on it too, I think it look like toilet paper rolls. I remember once when I was young my Dad went grocery shopping alone and got some bargain toothpaste. I think it was the nastiest stuff I have ever tried to brush my teeth with. We still tease him about that!

  12. hahaha, thanks for the lovely card which goes so well with your story. Toss the darn stuff... I too make such an "error" thinking I'd get us bargain loo paper,as it only has one purpose right? Flip... you had to use such a LOT of it in one go or else you know what!! Never again!!! hugs Sharon

I'm the luckiest girl in the world - my hubby shops because he says I shop too slow!

Maybe you can wrap his sandwich up with the paper!

  15. What a perfect stamp for this story, Lynn! I look forward to your Funny Fridays even if it's Saturday before I get to it. Maybe you could use the tp as packing in the next package you ship. Imagine the look on the recipients face when they see that! I'm sure you'll find something very clever to use it for.

  16. Too funny, I'm usually the one putting sweets in the cart at the grocery store and my husband is taking them out since I'm diabetic! Awesome card, LOVE it! Hugs, Karen

P.S. You could tear the edges of the toilet paper and use it for rough background on your cards or make tissue paper like flowers and add glitter.

  17. So funny, both the card and the story! Your sentiment is perfect. Maybe you can write future shopping lists on the TP for your husband. LoL

  18. too funny! Love that card too! You could always give the unused rolls to the food bank. We once bought a huge package of paper we didn't like, so hubby used it for kleenex in his "man cave"!

  19. That is the funniest story! I'm laughing so hard, I'm crying!! And then to top it off with that card...PERFECTION! Now make sure he uses it all up so he won't try this kind of stunt again. lol!

  20. Love your card, you can always bring smiles to everyone with your cards and your stories. You can always ink up the TP and use it as a background. Look under TP on my blog. I am very sure your creative little mind will come up with something.

  26. Hahahaha... how funny was that!!! Atleast your DH gets toilet paper... mine has to be reminded a hundred times and then finally he gets it the following week... I have just learned to hoard it so they we have enough supply.

Your card is as humourous as your post...

  27. I can't believe I didn't get to see this wonderful post until now!! LOL! First your incredibly funny story made me chuckle (been there...), then the fantastic card, and if that wasn't enough to make me smile, I laughed out loud at the suggested uses for the bargain tp! I'm thinking you need to make DH a papier mache sculpture as a reminder!
My DH is very picky about brands, but I do have to put the junk food and extras back on the shelf!

  28. Tim saw bags of apples in a cart that said 99cents... He did not see the per pound... I hear exactly what you are saying :-)

  29. HA! Great story and perfect card to go with it. I thought I knew of a TP technique, but I can't find it now. And you'd need to make a LOT of cards, anyway.

Maybe have him use it up himself. That'll teach him!
