Shiny Butterfly

I never make monochromatic cards and don't think I really started doing that on this one either....but as you can see, that's what came out.  I was actually attempting to make a card similar to one I saw in the stencil class but it really went south of what I saw which is probably normal for me.

I used an Impression Obsession die and added some Fantastix Frost White on the underside (solid layer) of the butterfly for the shine and then die cut the top layer in a patterned paper and added several tiny pearls.  The strip of DP is from Basic Grey and the sentiment is from a Simon Says Stamp kit stamped on a hand cut banner.  I added some looped white hemp twine behind the butterfly.  Back behind all that stuff I used some embossing paste and part of a stencil.  Whew!!!!   Sounds like a lot but doesn't look like it!

Is anyone besides me ready to see spring and maybe even a butterfly or two?

I'll enter this in the challenge at Shopping Our Stash (shiny - from my stash I used that Basic Grey paper that may be almost as old as I am - Nah, nothings that old!)

Thanks for stopping by..........
Lynn

  1. Lynn...wow! This is fabulous. The monochromatic look is so pretty with these lovely, muted colors. The stenciled part of your card is awesome. I noticed that banner right away. So, you hand cut it? I love it and the swirls of twine look great. I adore this card. Can you tell? Ha Hope you don't mind if I do a loose case of it when I get a chance.

  2. You took the words right out of my mouth "Nothings that old". Just kidding, my friend, you know that. We're probably the same age and I'm not THAT old. LOL. Now on to this gorgeous card. I have always found monochromatic cards to have a certain elegance about them and this card is no exception. This is stunning. I think you did a great job with the stenciling and every other part of the card. The shape of your sentiment just looks so perfect with your butterfly and you did a marvelous job with the hemp. I tried that and it looked foolish when I did it. At least you've attempted to make a card from the class. I took that same class (loved it) but haven't even tried to make anything yet. As I mentioned the other day, my MoJo is on vacation. It's too cold and snowy for him lately. I do hope he is down in the USVI where I'd like to be. Enjoy your day, Old Lady! LOL

  6. My achy knees are ready for spring for sure! I think your card is very elegant looking and it is definitely monochrome but you don't really notice that about it. It's very nice.

I have to tell you that I was driving home from work yesterday and your black and yellow arrows card was stuck in my mind. I may have to try something similar or something black and yellow.
