Not A Good Thing

In case you missed me telling you about this......several weeks ago my sister in law asked if I could make her about 25 or 30 invitations for a bridal shower she was hosting.  I hemmed and hawed for a while and finally gave in and said I would.  Not a problem at all (smile).......then the next week she called and said she was wrong about the number of invites and she was going to need 50 of them instead!  When I picked my jaw up off the floor I decided I'd better get busy and in a hurry.  Even though they're very clean and simple, it still took me several days to get them completed.   This HAD to be the MOST boring thing I've ever done in my life!  I'll NEVER, EVER, NEVER do something like that again ( unless I start charging about $10.00 per card!  LOL!)  Just extremely boring all the way around!

I used the Blissful Bride image from SU.  The sentiment is also from SU but I don't remember which set it was in.  I embossed the bottom portion, stamped the image and sentiment, colored the sash, added Wink of Stella, popped on the pearl, and then tied the ribbon.  All of this was done on cream colored card stock.  All the information regarding the shower was typed and then inserted inside the card.  Sounds easy and they really would have been - IF there had only been one!  Just way too many cards doing the same thing over and over and over again - and trying to get them all look as close to perfect as I could get.

Thanks for stopping by.........
Lynn

  1. WOOOOOOWWWWW! This is so classic and pretty. I like the colour combo and the delicate ribbon as well the gentle embossing at the bottom.
However I can imagine how boring it must be to colour 50 times, emboss 50 times, tie 50 knots on the ribbons and put all these 50 cards together.
    WELL DONE!

    Love,

  4. Lynn, that is a fabulous and beautiful wedding invitation. I know it was hard to do soooo many but I am sure it was so appreciated. I think they are fabulous. I hope you go to the shower and are recognized for the maker of these invites.....Stand up, Lynn...and everyone applauds.:-)

  5. They are beautiful, but I agree that I don't like to mass produce anything either. Love the simple embossing and the blue ribbon.

  6. Now I'm tired again. Think I'll go back to bed......LOL. This IS a beautifully crafted card. You should be proud. Never do free. It keeps the item count lower. If not, at least the bank account is happy. LOL. I'm bored. What's next.

  10. Wow! These are gorgeous Lynn!! Making that many is boring. I don't like making a lot of anything. lol But you made these so elegant and just beautiful so I hope that you get an invite and get recognized for making these top notch invites! What a lucky bride! Of course it could back fire in that the bride loves them so much that she will want you to do her thank you cards too. lol Hugs, Brenda

  11. I guess after making OWH cards for so long, mass producing is 2nd nature to me, and I'm a happy camper creating the same cards with a good design! This CAS design is perfection and it's a beautiful invitation! I love the blue ribbon! I think the sentiment is from "sincere salutations" - I have that classic stamp set too :)

  14. Well, THIS one is certainly perfect. And so pretty as well. A lovely design, simple yet so very attractive with the embossing and the white & blue. I can see where you might get tired of making 50 of the same design though. Well done you! I can guess this was your design skills that were at work on this one, and it's perfect for a bridal shower invite. Can I just ask you if you'd do 50 for .....LOL! Hugs & TFS it with us.

  17. This is beautiful :) I love the simplistic look but yet so appealing, I can understand how boring it might have been, 50 similar cards :) Wow you showcased a lot of patience !

  18. Very pretty, love the whole card. I can relate to this as recently I did 85 Wedding invites for one of the nurses at $3 a card....thought it would be quick and easy too BUT also thinking 'hey I will cut these on the cameo' which I did but then hey, I had to decorate with red ribbon, and a heart and blings and colour the bride and groom....then add the inserts all designed and printed up with names, etc so Never again....xxx

  19. Lynn you did a beautiful job on the invites! They are cas but very classy, perfect for a wedding shower! Im totally with you the repetition of the same thing 50 times is TOTALLY boring :) Im sure they appreciate that you persevered and did it LOL!!

  20. This really is beautiful, Lynn, and I'm sure everyone loved receiving one! You know she is just giving you some time to get over this and then she's going to ask you to make thank you notes for the bride-to-be. You know. For both the shower gifts and the wedding gifts. About 200, I'm thinking ... OW!! I felt that!! Hugs, Darnell

  24. OMGoodness, Lynn, these are beautiful ! I can't imagine doing 50 of anything. I would have had to set up an assembly line and done each step on all 50 before moving on to the next step. Even then, I don't think I would have maintained my sanity making 50 of them. :-D Aren't you glad you did CAS? I do love the touch of blue in the colored sash and the ribbon. Perfect embossed border.

  25. This is such a gorgeous design, Lynn. I absolutely feel your pain, though. I did 75 thank you cards for my sister's wedding, and NOPE. Not only did it take a while to settle on a design she liked, by the end I never wanted to see those stamps again. Ever. It's been 2 years & I still don't. lol!

  26. The design is absolutely beautiful, so elegant with the pops of colour against the white.
BUT I can totally understand that doing so many of them would get a bit, um, tiresome?!
I bet your sister-in-law was absolutely thrilled though :-)

  27. I do not like mass production, myself! Now mind you, I did it for both kids weddings, and loved what was made, but I sure did not like doing it. I am a one of a kind sort of person. This is a beautiful design, Lynn!

I almost know how you feel! I did my granddaughter's graduation invitations. Fortunately she only needed 20!

  31. This is beautiful! I think I know what you mean...although, I must admit I have never done 50 of anything! I'm too slow a card maker for that! It's rare that I duplicate anything. But all your effort was definitely worth it. Your card is just stunning.

  32. LYNN, you are so honest that I love you to death!!!! I was going UGH at 30!! LOLOL They are very elegant though, with the simple gown, the pearl, and the embossed bottom! PERFECT!! Once I've done something like that I like to have a supply burning ceremony! Not really!

  33. Now this is a classy and pretty invite! I get what you mean about being boring to do 50... that's a big job but wow... she's going to be so impressed! Love that Blissful Bride... I remember seeing it a couple years ago and searching high and low all over the internet until I finally found it. It remains un-inked...
