Scoops

Texas is so hot this time of year about the only thing you can think about is ice cream or something else to cool you off.  Jim prefers the ice cream - and I prefer the air conditioning!  A little secret about Jim here.........

Up until about 4 years ago he was wearing the same size jeans as he did in high school!  Really!  As we all know, the older we get the more things seem to spread or shift or whatever. (Although I personally just think I'm getting shorter!!)   Of course about that same time he decided that a bowl of ice cream before going to bed every night was exactly what the body needed.  After numerous scoops he found that the jeans were (and still are) getting a wee bit snug.....well DUH!  So I decided to get some of that no fat frozen yogurt and give him that instead.  He won't eat the stuff because as he says the word "yogurt" is just nasty!  The word "ice cream" sounds so much better.  LOL!  The jeans are still getting bigger and the ice cream is still going into the bowl every night.  Might as well be happy I guess!

The first card was sent to my granddaughter for her birthday.  The second card is going to sit beside that next bowl of ice cream Jim has!  The stamp set I used is from Simon Says Stamp.   Lots of Glossy Accents added, a little heat embossing in white, dry embossing, several sequins, and a bit of twine.

Thanks for stopping by.......
Lynn

  3. The images of ice cream certainly cools one down. And, how adorable and colorful they are..love both cards.

Funny story about hubby. What a fun card to put beside his bowl of ice cream. I just don't understand why anything that tastes good makes our jeans tighter...just have to eat things that taste like cardboard to stay slim, don't we? Ugh.........

  5. Both of these cards are just awesome Lynn! They are so colorful and of course the ice cream looks so good. lol I loved the story about Jim. How do guys do it?!! I could starve myself and never weigh what I weighed in high school. So depressing, but I did like the fact that his jeans are getting tighter now that he has been eating ice cream every evening. lol My FIL did the same thing, he always had his bowl of ice cream along with some cookies. I say at this age, enjoy your food! Hugs, Brenda

  13. Oh these are just adorable Lynn! I love the color combinations you used!

I had the same problem with my hubby, but somehow (do not ask me how) I was able to get him to switch to cereal with almond milk on it as his night time snack. What a relief..no sense nagging...life is too short.

  17. These are darned cute! I'm with Jim on the yogurt. If I'm gonna eat the stuff I want the GOOD stuff...not yogurt. (And I don't mind the name either. I just want that butterfat!) Having just had a nice dish of rum raisin, I can look at these cards and not drool - just now anyway. These are bright & colorful, and would make me hungry, if I hadn't just had some sweet stuff. Two very cute & wonderful cards! Stay cool. We've had a lovely, delicious cool breeze all day. I had my coffee in the front porch swing this morning. Very peaceful it was too. TFS & Hugs

  20. The images on the cards are almost enough to cool one down. Great cards. Keep one of the ice cream cartons and transfer the yogurt to it. If it is a good yogurt he may not know the difference. LOL - Jim

  24. Now you have me laughing, Lynn! Love the ice cream story and I'm sorry, but yogurt (frozen or otherwise) IS naaaas-ty. I'm with Jim on that one. Love the cards, though, and that twist with tying the pink twine with green is delightful. OK, I'm off to get some ice cream out of the freezer before I go to bed. :-d

  25. Two fabulously fun cards! Love the bold fun images and your vivid summer colours.

My DH loves ice cream but has type 2 diabetes for about 2 years. He misses it but is very good about declining an offer of a bowl. Not so good about other things though! We all have our weaknesses, I guess!

Up here at the resort, we have Saturday night Ice Cream socials. Ice cream cones are hand scooped by volunteers, often the teenagers, and the tickets are sold for a buck a cone. They have a sugar free version but DH just shudders at the thought of that!

We often walk up and just chat to friends as it is a very social occasion. The lineup to pay are huge though...especailly when it is 40 degrees Celcius! teehee

  34. Both cards are absolutely adorable, Lynn...such pretty colors and I love the yummy images!!! My hubs likes his ice cream, too, however, unlike Jim, his jean size has increased by many sizes since high school and he says that the ice cream is helping him keep his mature figure...LOL!!!
