A Time For Butterflies

Scrapy Land Challenges begins again today and our theme this time is to Use Texture.   Be sure and see all the rules over at Scrapy Land Challenge and enter.  Make sure you use at least one of the brands of dies from the store.  Below is a list of all the brands that Scrapy Land carries.

It's really not the time of year around here to see many butterflies but I think they're beautiful no matter what season it is.  For my card today I used a stencil and some embossing paste for the texture.  The butterfly was completed using the Fancy Butterfly die from Impression Obsession and some patterned paper. Pearls were added to the body of the butterfly.  The sentiment was heat embossed in white on a scrap of vellum.  I added the vellum with some stitching leaving the ends of the thread dangling.

Be sure and enter our challenge at Scrapy Land Challenge for a chance to win a wonderful prize package.

Thanks for stopping by.........
Lynn

  1. So very pretty, Lynn. Just using part of the stencil gives a card that special look that I love. I really like the way you attached your vellum with the threads hanging. Quite different and eye catching. Your butterfly with it's pearls is just stunning against the blue and white. It has the look of a sky and a trellis. Wonderful job.

  2. This is just drop-dead gorgeous Lynn, and a breath of comfort in this brutal cold snap we're having! (19 degrees this morning!) I really need to get on board with the embossing paste, as I don't own any, but I love the look! The vellum sentiment panel adds a serious touch of elegance! Such a pretty card!

  14. You cannot go wrong with butterflies, Lynn, that's for sure! We are only without butterflies when the daytime temperatures are below 50 or when it is raining. I so enjoy them. The other day, it seemed like Mother Nature was treating me to something special. I was watering potted plants when a tiny butterfly (whose wings were as big as my thumbnail?) fluttered nearby to get a drink off the leaves. It was a translucent brown, very tiny, thin body with delicate antennae. The underside of her wings were deep woody brown with white markings, and the top had diagonal white stripes with white dots laced around the edges. She was beautiful and I just stood still as she climbed my legs to get a better drink.

Anyway, I am a butterfly lover, and feel that your card is timeless and beautiful, showcasing Nature's finest moments.

    hugs,

  36. Ah, I'm playing catch up once again, and enjoying some lovely goodness here on your site. I do like the way you've used the stencil paste on this soft blue...and likewise stitched the vellum sentiment onto the card. Lots of texture and of course the beautiful butterfly against the soft blue. Um, stunning, and a breath of sunshine amidst this rain. TFS & Hugs
