That Blogger (Bugger) Mess

I'm sure by now everyone has seen the mess on Blogger with the word verification!  I saw mine early this morning and went over to Blogger Help to find out what to do.  They did leave a reply to my question on why it was being so screwy but I swear I'd have to have a degree in computer technology to figure out what they were even saying!  If I could figure that out I would NOT have a blog - I'd be teaching a computer class instead!  They were talking about cookies and filters!  Now come on......cookies are to eat and the only filters I'm familiar with are coffee filters!!!

Thanks to some ladies in one my design team groups, here's the latest!  You can change the setting to "embedded" - however, you may get some spam comments.  (Spam comes in a can and you're suppose to eat it - however, I'm not a fan)  I personally don't want to have to deal with the spam either on my blog or in the can.   BUT, there's a way around all this.........when the word verification comes up, don't even attempt to try to read what it says for you to type (who can see that anyway)!  All you have to do is leave your comment and then hit "Publish"!  It will publish just fine...........at least until they change something else up.

  3. Cookies, fliters and spam! Who knew computer geek talk came straight from the kitchen? LOL Thanks for the heads up about not typing in the word verification and the comments go through anyway!

  4. It seems to be broken for blogs with pop-up comment forms. I don't get the prompt with embedded comments.

  8. Thanks, Lynn. I tried to turn it off and it's already turned off. But it's still in there. I find it on everyone's blog. Thanks for the tip. I'll try that. By the way, I don't see word verification here. Maybe you fixed it?

  9. seems blogger is making up a big excuse - if it was really cookies and filters, why has it suddenly gone world-wide, and overnight? LOL too stupid!

  10. Lynn, I love that you have maintained your sense of humor in the face of Blogger dictating how our blogs are to be designed. lol I'm going to follow your example.

  11. You have a great sense of humor Lynn, not sure I would have had any. lol I have seen that others are having the same problem although I'm still not quite sure I know what that problem is. I went to check to make sure word verification is still off for me and it was. I guess I'd better take your example to heart and act the same way! Hugs, Brenda

  12. Fix seems to be working. I've still got the Embed on, but no spam as yet. I'll watch out for it though. Not seeing the WV on any of the blogs I've checked tonight, so hopefully everyone got the word as to how to avoid aggravation. TFS

  14. Thanks for this information, Lynn! I have been running into those crazy numbers on many of the blogs I visit and I have had to track down my glasses to make them out. Good to know I can just ignore them.

I use embedded commenting and never have any spam.

  15. Glad you got it sorted - I'm a bit of a techno phob so I'm glad Joe knows lots about it and can usually sort things for me - as for Spam (the eating variety Joe loves it :) ) - Lesley x
