Bouquet Splat

Scrapy Land Challenge is up again and we have a fun theme for you this time.  SPLAT - Use spray mists, paint, inks, etc.....plus one of the brands from the Scrapy Land store too of course.  Be sure and enter for your chance to win a wonderful prize from the store.  Also, check out all the inspiration from the Design Team.

I used a Memory Box die called Blushing Bouquet that can be found in the Scrapy Land store.  It's a fairly large die - at least for me - and pretty well takes up the entire card.  The die was cut twice with one of the cuts being on the polka dot paper like the edging.  A pearl was added to the center of each flower and the sentiment (from Stampin' Up) was embossed on vellum with Liquid Platinum.

The SPLATS!  I've watched all the videos, etc. on how to do that bit of putting the ink of a paintbrush and then tapping it to make the cute little splats.  Not going to happen with me though because I run out of patience way too quick!  I did pretty good on them for a while on this and then figured it was taking too long so instead of tapping I THUMPED!  Now the splat looks like a splatter.  I guess splats and splatters are pretty much the same though so there you are!  Oh, I used Peacock Feathers distress ink mixed with water for the splats/splatters.

Thanks for stopping by.........and be sure and check out Scrapy Land Challenges.

  3. I totally and completely love this card! Polka dot flowers! And splats and splatters! What an awesome combination for a delightful card! Plan on an Iowa version of this showing up soon as I intend to be a copy-cat!

Thanks for your words of support regarding my memory jars! UGGGG scrapbooking!!!! Good point on the 'key' being an 'aging' reminder. I can just see me and my sisters sitting around with our canes and walkers saying, "What is the tiny chicken leg doing in the jar? Why is there a teeny roll of toilet paper in the memory jar? What are those coffee beans doing there?"

What really drove me nuts was keeping the contents straight as not all our travel memories were identical. I went to the UK with 2 of my sisters, but only two of us went to Germany....yikes!

Anyway - thanks for the comments. Thanks for your blog support! And I LOVE this card!!!!

P.S. I hear you about the splatters....mine NEVER look as sweet and delicate as I want them to! And spray mists...don't get me started! Blobs here, globs there, plugged spray tops.... Oh the trails of card making!

Later my friend! Stay warm! It is 'blistering' cold up here! I don't think my furnace has stopped once in the last 12 hours!

  9. I don't have any patience for some of these techniques either, but your thumping ended up great. Your sentiment looks gorgeous in the platinum against the vellum. The tiny white delicate bow and pearls adds so much softness to your bouquet. Sweet card. Have a fun day.

  26. Beautiful die, especially the way you've used the paper flowers to bring in the dp background. Your splats are great! I'm not seeing any blobs like I get (still not used my splat brush yet, but I do know where it is!). Very elegant card and lovely in the soft blues & greens. Very springlike. TFS & Hugs

  28. Ha! I wish any splatters I'VE dome looked half as good as yours! Mine look like I dropped a tin of paint on my card, or cover up my image.
That technique of using the same papers for the mat and then the flowers, is a really effective touch. xxx
