Summertime Cheers!

Penguins are always cute in the wintertime since it's so cold, but I like them in the summer too.  Just dreaming of cooler weather I suppose.

This cutie is from My Favorite Things and he's ready to bring some summertime cheer.  I attempted to use one of the Zig markers to make the watercolor look in the background then added the penguin and palm.  A little Glossy is on the glass and the sequins added.

Now comes the fun part.  The original card was fine but I decided there needed to be sand under the penguin and palm.  I recently saw a video where they added those cute little tiny dots with a Copic to make sand.  Hey, I can do that too......however, I'm thinking my hand has lead in it!  My tiny dots were more like golf balls!  Just think of it as big clumps of sand and you'll be fine!

I'd like to enter this in Time Out Challenges (Nature, with the option of animals).

Thanks for stopping by.........and have a great weekend.

Lynn

  6. He's darling. At first thought it was a digi, and very impressed that it was MFT. He is very icy & cool and the lovely glittery glossy sequins look great. I've tried those tiny copic dots things too, and it's harder than it looks (at least for me!). Yours did turn out very nicely, so WTG. Also liking the w/c skies... you do that cloud thing so well! I see that I missed a couple of posts so off to fix that. Well done, and hope it's cooler where you are than here! At least it ain't 102F today, so thank goodness for small mercies. TFS & Big hugs. Best to the boys too!

  10. I love this card, Lynn, and it makes perfect sense. I love penguins but have never understood why they become something we use as a Christmas symbol since it's summertime for them when Christmas rolls around. lol
Love your comment about golf ball size for for sand. Too funny. But I understand what you mean and being able to make tiny dots is why I use ProMarkers instead of Copics. ProMarkers has ultra fine nibs available and they actually do make tiny dots. :-D
PS I'm picking another watermelon tomorrow so head out for the airport now, girlfriend!

  16. What a cute, cute card Lynn! I love your wash of color, I think that looks amazing! I also love your cute penguin, I was just looking at these guys myself. lol Love how you used him for the summer by added the cute palm tree. I think your sand turned out great. It is hard to have a light hand and it takes practice as I found out the hard way once I started coloring with alcohol markers. lol Hugs, Brenda

  29. I think your sand came out just fine! Speaking of fine, our sand here is anything but so that may skew my outlook on sand. But seriously this card is so cute! Cheers to you too!
