Number 76

Number 76..........Last year my daughter was named principal of one of the grade schools in Texas and as an incentive to students to not only read but to be kind to others she started a goodie box in her office.  When one of the students either does something nice for another student in the halls or in class, they're allowed to go to the office and select a pencil or bookmark from the goodie box.  I've made 75 bookmarks for her since September - almost all of them different - and for boys and girls 1st through 5th grades.  The bookmarks are flying out of the box faster than I can make them which is wonderful, however I'm running out of ideas fast now!  I'm so thankful the kids love them and I think it encourages them to read too.

I used Newton Dreams of Paris and Delightful Doxies from Newton's Nook.  Coloring with Copics, sponging, and lots of Wink of Stella.

I'll enter this in the Inky Paws Challenge at Newton's Nook (color challenge) and the challenge over at Pixie's Crafty Workshop (snippets).

Thanks for stopping by.............
Lynn

  1. Your daughter is to be commended for teaching core values to her children! I love this idea of rewarding good deeds, and your bookmark is so cute! I made over 100 bookmarks for a charity last year, so I know how quickly those ideas are spent! This is so cute with that image and especially the tiny heart at the bottom! Good luck with this great project!

  7. What a super brilliant idea to do this to encourage the kids and recognize what they have done. So often we only hear about what they do not so good. It's a darling bookmark, and I love this floating kitty. Especially like the soothing colors and the wonderful sentiment. Good for your daughter to have such a talented (and willing!) Mom to help her motivate her students. Also good to see you on this craft roll. TFS & Hugs

  18. What a fantastic idea to teach both kindness and a love of reading! I think she's a fabulous principal on that idea alone. Your bookmark is absolutely adorable and I can see why Newton's Nook stamps would be so popular with that age group. Wish I could get in on this. Maybe I'll make up some bookmarks and mail them to you, my friend. :-D
