Hairballs and Hairy Twine

The first time I saw this stamp set from SU I  knew I would HAVE to have it!!  I mean, look at that sentiment!  Can you think of a better way to say happy birthday!  LOL!   This probably isn't for everyone, but I know I'm going to be using it a ton!

Now, on to hairy twine and hairballs.......well....we'll just talk about the twine since hairballs really do make you want to gag!  I love using twine on cards but it always has these little stray hairs sticking out all over it.  I finally decided that I was going to get rid of the strays.  Got a match and very carefully held it under one of the strays.......and POOF, the whole thing went up in flames!  Um......not good.....!  Let's try that again......and again.....and again........No go!  All I had was a bunch of burnt twine.  Even though I didn't do it on the twine on these cards I'm really thinking the best way is to just get a pair of scissors and give it a hair cut!

While I had stuff scattered all over my desk anyway, I decided to make another one with this set.  Although you can't see it I actually stitched two PERFECTLY straight lines on the inside on the DP.  Pretty proud of myself even though you can't see it.    Two very CAS and quick cards.

I'll enter this second card in the challenge at Pixie's Crafty Workshop - snippets of the DP and twine.  I wrapped the twine around the card and forgot about making the bow - UGH -  so grabbed another snippet of twine, made the bow, and slapped it on there.  Works!

Thanks for stopping by............and have a great weekend!
Lynn

  1. hahahha... I'd love to have been a fly on the wall to see the look on your face when the twine was blazine! That's the kind of thing that happens to me too except my card would have been scorched as well. Kind of like an I Love Lucy episode!
The cards are cute and that is a fabulous sentiment. I think I may have that set (it's one of the uninked ones) and after seeing what great cards you made, I may have to dig it out.

  3. Brilliant cards Lynn, and super use of snippets on the second one. I know JUST what you mean about the 'hairy twine' - it makes my teeth itch whenever I use it and the neat freak in me wants to give it a trim, BUT, it does look fabulous!

You linked fine - hope you found the 'Pick an image' option made it easier. I never could get my head round the URL option.

    Hugs, Di xx

  4. Well I'm very glad you didn't set yourself on fire while experimenting. That IS a fabulous sentiment and, oh, how true. The button and twine to make great adorable final touches. Your second card is equally as cute. have a great weekend.

  7. I love how you've folded up the corner of the paper on the first card and the hairy twine! Lucky you didn't set your craft room on fire! Great bow on the second card! It works great!

  14. Oh dear, I shouldn't be chuckling at your latest adventure (glad it didn't end as your cutting episode did!), but it was funny to imagine it, as long as I knew you were safe! Yep, best stick with just a scissor trim! (I hope you didn't tell the Mr. this one!!!). I'm not a cat person (allergic to 'em), but these cards are just plumb cute. And what a perfect sentiment for the specific occasion for the specific person who will laugh at the image & the words!!!:-). Loved your layouts, and yes I could see the stitching very well - and well done too! - when I enlarged. Tried my 1st time last night. I'll share later! Happy wkend, and TFS Hugs & so glad you only burned up the twine!!!

  20. OMG, I laughed right out loud at that sentiment - partly because haven't I already cleaned up a hairball today? Sigh. Gag indeed.
And FLAME? You silly silly girl. lol. Just accept the hairiness of the twine already ;) lol!

  21. Too funny and adorable, Lynn, and great snippets use! I love the imaginary stitching, too! I totally believe you that it's there! But please, don't be doing that burning (twine or anything else) thing ever again!!

  24. Love the cat; love the sentiment; LOVE the cards -- and I expect to see a card with that cat in my mailbox soon. OK, so I can wait until the next birthday in March. :-D
Hairy twine is best dealt with (IMHO) by a change in focus. Consider the possibility that all those little hairs which stick out give added texture and interest to the cards! No? Sigh... I tried.
