Hippo Hugs and Warm Thoughts

Yikes!  I've been working on a card, on and off, for about two days now.  Finally got it finished... scooted outside to get a picture, had it all set up, the wind caught it and blew it over.....of course it still had a wet finish on the main image that is now smeared, blotted, and motley looking!  So back to the drawing board once again on that one.......

In the meantime, I found this card that I made last month to send to a friend that was still getting snow while we were basking in the heat down here, but just never got it mailed!  Super duper clean and simple card using a stamp from Great Impressions that I picked up at a craft store going out of business.  This little (well, maybe I should say bigger than little) lady was glaring at me just begging to be bought.  No one else seemed to want her but she makes me smile every time I look at her.....so into the basket she went! No embellishments at all  - just stamping and coloring.

And speaking of "warm".......mercy me.....we've had some pretty warm weather around here!  (Um....I actually said something just a little bit stronger than 'mercy me' with it being so hot!!!  LOL!)   It's already been up to 99 degrees a couple of days and summer's not even here yet!  Scary thought!

Thanks for stopping by........and I'll be back around tomorrow with a couple of cards!

  2. Cute...I love the image and sentiment. It has been quite warm lately. My husband refuses to set up our cooling until the end of May. I may melt by then!

  3. Lynn, I can see why she went in your basket. She makes me smile also. Great coloring and she looks perfect lying there without any embellishments. Just great the way it is. Sorry to hear about the problems with you other card. Hope we do get to see it if you decide to remake it. I can't believe how hot it is there. Last night we started a fire and it has been raining for two day. Very raw feeling and I, too, said more than merce me. LOL Enjoy your hot day.

  5. Ha...that is just the cutest image. I would love to be relaxing like that. But, I can't do that when I'm all stressed out, can I? LOL

Don't you hate when you pour your heart and soul into a card and it gets ruined? Well, that's something else to stress over. :-)

Wow! You are really having some HOT weather already. Probably lots of humidity to go along. And, that's the bummer.

Try to stay cool and have a good day.

  7. Reason 433 why I won't take pictures outside, lol! Yikes. That sucks! I love this fun hippo totally chilling in the sun! I also kind of want her bathing suit.
As for weather - I'm not keen on ours at the moment, but I don't want yours either ;) It was 9C and sunny here yesterday, and I was outside barefoot. Today it's back to my winter coat & shivering. Spring in the Maritimes isn't for wimps. But at least I have a good month or so before the grass will need mowing!

  14. She really is a cutie and I can see why you bought her! Great coloring on this one, and I just love the fonts on the sentiment! After talking with a friend yesterday I learned that Wisconsin STILL has substantial snow on the ground, and the lake up there is 8" thick with ice!! The weather has been insane this year!!

  19. Adorable! You brought back another memory for me...the day my card got caught by a breeze and went sailing...it definitely did not look the same when I picked it up off the ground. Isn't it nice to know that we are not alone?

still a bit chilly where we are..(at least for me) I think it's going to go from Winter weather to summer weather...haven't had much of a spring yet...cool weather or rain...Spring is still my favorite time of year.

  20. OMGosh, this is an adorable card Lynn! I'm so sorry about your other card, don't you hate when the wind messes things up for us?! I've been there and done that! Not fun! I have to say I'm so glad you bought this cute stamp because she sure makes me smile too! I love the way you colored her up and the sentiment is so perfect for a friend that was still having snow. So glad that it wasn't me getting that snow! lol Boy you guys are really getting the heat-I wish I could send you some rain and you send me some heat. lol Crazy weather for sure everywhere. In Michigan they had an ice Tsunami! Big hug chunks of ice pushed up to peoples houses that live along the lake. The pics were amazing, but so glad that I'm not there because those ice chunks were as big as the houses! Yikes!! Hugs

  25. this card is simply gorgeous even though it received some trauma whilst being photographed - you must be going to have a hot summer is the temperature is already 99oF we could do with a bit more of your sunshine in Derby - although it's been sunny here for over the a week the top temp has been about 18oC best wishes Lesley x
