Barbed Wire and Bluebonnets

A very dear friend of mine sent me this stamp from Texana Designs last month and as a thank you, I worked up a card for her.  She's actually the one that got me started on this hobby/addiction several years ago.

Barbed wire and bluebonnets are abundant in Texas and especially right now.  The bluebonnet (a wildflower) is the state flower and they've started covering the fields and sides of the highways all over Texas.  It's so beautiful to be driving down the road and see millions of these gorgeous flowers everywhere.  It's like a sea of blue.  Of course we have barbed wire all the time here since so much of the land is still fenced off with that.

The sentiment is from Kitchen Sink Stamps and I added a little red and white gingham patterned paper and twine.

Thanks for stopping by.........
Lynn

  1. Truly a nice way to say thank you, A Big Texas Howdy. I would love to see those gorgeous flowers along the sides of the roads. The gingham just seems to fit this card perfectly and your touch of twine is the perfect final touch. Hope you are drying out down there and stay safe. Have a good one today.

They just go together so well and you have finished it off perfectly with the sentiment Lynn. That little bit of twine take the card over the top! Yep, I am loving this one for sure! A sweet gift and a sweet card, doesn't get any better than this. Hugs, Brenda

  12. Howdy indeed! This sure is purty!! Oh Lynn, what a gorgeous burst of color with the pops of red and blue - your cards are always so striking that way. I'm smiling at your post, as I actually stumbled upon stamping by way of scrapbooking - seeing someone stamp on the pages and went to ebay to find out what a stampin up was - LOL! The rest was history ..... this one is a beauty, and VERY Texas :)

  13. oh that really is PERFECTION in card form. totally screams TEXAS as well... but in such a subtle, cool way! (ok, so "screams" was probably the wrong word, lauren... how would one scream, subtly??!?!?) :) :) :) and i've only been to texas once (for a wedding) but the most enduring memory i have is of the amazingly lovely oceans of bluebonnets surrounding every highway... & a plush armadillo i bought at the airport! :)

  23. Hi Lynn
Finally got some time (and motivation!) to sit down to visit. Thoroughly enjoying this crisp wreath with the lovely bluebonnies (as I've heard them called). I've never been lucky enough to see them in bloom, but pictures are gorgeous, so bet your highways are wonderful to drive just now. This sweet image certainly made a pretty card, trimmed with the gingham borders, and that bold sentiment. Your enabling friend is sure to love this as much as I do! TFS & Have a wonderful week.

  24. I follow the blog of a TX photographer and stamp designer, and she has photographed her animals if fields of solid Blue Bonnets. It is enough to take your breath away. I love how you country-fied this card with the bit of gingham and twine! Nice work, Lynn.

  25. This is so fun, Lynn! Love the image but you so brought it to life with your twine and colors and layout. You know this gives me an idea to make a wreath - wouldn't that be a fun one to do? I am going to see if we have any barbed wire laying around outside or see if hubby can get me some. Many hugz!
