I was playing around with a star die I recently purchased and completed a card for graduation. I used a stripe stencil and some embossing paste and then sprinkled it with embossing powder and heat set. Even though it doesn't say anything about graduation, it should work just fine for that occasion.
Since I was in the mood, I also created a card using a jar stamp from SU and another new die. I really like this die and in my mind this was going to be one spectacular card! I used vellum for the jar and think I should have used acetate instead (but of course don't have any) so as an end result the jar looks rather dirty! LOL! So, nothing spectacular I'm afraid but still a little spring-y.
I'll enter both cards in the challenge at Pixie's Crafty Workshop (snippets).
Thanks for stopping by............

Both cards are lovely! I really like how you used the stencil in the first one. I have stencils and have never used them - I have to figure out what to do! I really like the stars too and all the different patterns!
Your jar looks fine in vellum, and I love how your flowers pop - beautiful pearl centers!
I like both of these cards Lynn. The first more than fits the bill as a graduation card. The second is a jar with flowers and water with plant food in it. No problem. Nice job on both.
Blessings

Two beautiful cards Lynn, I love the jam jar with flowers.

Lynn, that is a perfect graduation card. I love stars and stencils. They're some of my favorite things.
Your vellum jar looks great and the flowers are so pretty and spring like.
Two super duper cards.
I LOVE all those red stars, Lynn! What a wonderful die and selection of papers! And the jar doesn't look dirty, the water just gets cloudy from the flowers! Such pretty flowers! Who cares if the water is cloudy!
I think this is a grad card for graduation and seeing as how it doesn't actually say graduation, it will stand out above all the others. I love it. I also really like your spring like flowers. You jar does not look dirty, it looks like it has water in it. We are having a very dreary day here so this card is making me feel better about the day. Thank you for that.
What fabulous cards! Love the jar of flowers but wowsa, those red stars knocked my socks off! When I first looked at this, the stars looked like you had satin stitched all around them but I see it's not, it's the colours you used... gorgeous!
Lynn, A really perfect grad card!! Wait until he/she sees that raised part and those awesome stars too! Loved your jar and flowers. I honestly think I like the vellum better! The sentiment is wonderful!
Boy, have I been missing some good cards while Life got in the way of my blog visitin'. Love the star card, and great embossing, BTW. I think the sentiment is wonderful for a graduation card. Now I don't think your jar looks dirty at all. Older jars look a bit cloudy - that just makes 'em more 'spensive if you are buying them in an antique shop. Your jar is great, and the vellum allowed the stems to show through. I think your vellum was a good choice with your die..but just my opinion. Loved both these cards. TFS & Hugs. Happy Sunday too.
Wrong, wrong, your jar card is wonderful, I love it and your star card is spectacular!
Super cards both of them. I really like the jam jar of flowers. Water needs to be changed every day for flowers anyway so this is the before picture.Lol. Hugs Mrs A.
I think your two snippets cards are dynamite, Lynn! I actually like the "dirty" jar and the opaque result, which you wouldn't have gotten with a piece of acetate! Hugs, Darnell
I'm LOVING that first card with that great star die! I have the hearts all lined up - we should do a swap :) The stenciled embossing paste/glitter looks so fabulous and I need to try that!! Love your jarred flowers too - and the vellum doesn't look dirty to me at all! Great cards today!
These are both fabulous Lynn, I love those stars.

Lovely cards Lynn - and you used a frosted jar rather than a clear one! Love the stripes on the top card.
Blessings

Hi Lynn, the first card is speaking and shining graduation. Sometimes a subtle hint works better than a direct sentiment. I love the shininess of the card and the sentiment says it all.
When I looked at the second card, it made my heart sing. The flowers speak and the vellum makes it look far more real that acetate as the cloudy look gives it that very shabby chic look. It looks like a transluscent jar and trust me it looks FAB.
Much love,
Monica
Two beautiful cards Lynn! The flowers in the jar - I was going to say exactly the same as Mrs A but she beat me to it! I think it looks great as it is.
Hugs, Di xx
Both of these are adorable. I love your design on the first one and think it's perfect for a graduation card (and you know I love the reds).
Two fabulous cards. The starts look fabulous. Love the zingy red against the white.
I don't think the water looks dirty...just a jar full of water! It looks great!
I love them both, Lynn! I think the jar done in vellum looks more like it has water in it. I love the effect and I think the vellum makes it stand out from the white background instead of just blending in. Love those flowers and the pearl centers! What die is it?
It's frosted glass ;) I still love it! The dimension on the blooms & the bit of twine are awesome. And the stars - that's a fabulous idea for grad cards! I'm busy trying to come up with ideas for that too, so will file this somewhere in my brain :)
Fabulous cards Lynn!! I love the stars and sparkly embossing on your first card, perfect for a Graduation! AND I love the the gorgeous design on your second card, beautiful flowers!

I like the "dirty jar" I think it makes the card look vintage and sweet! The first card is perfect for graduation!
Love your cards Lynn. The jar with the flowers is a great idea. Maybe there was cloudy water in the jar hee hee
These are both perfect!
Both are great cards! Your star card is perfect for a graduation!
I sent you an email.
I really like the bright reds and all the textures on the first card! It's a great card.
The jar of flowers is cute and fun. You're too critical of your jar, I think it's realistic looking! Love those flowers too!
You are so funny Lynn, your jar doesn't look dirty at all, and even if it would that's ok because it has flowers in it! lol I love your jar of flowers-I actually love anything to do with jars! If you have any packaging acetate you can use that too. I do all the time. Now that grad card, wow!! I am so loving that one! Love that star die too! This is a marvelous grad card!! Hugs
I love these cards, the star card is a star in my eyes :)
Goodness Lynn both of these are beautiful. I love the jar it looks great. don't be so hard on yourself they are wonderful.
The embossing paste plus embossing is such a cool textural element- and I LOVE the stars- cool grad card! The jar with the flowers- so pretty- love your jar just the way it is- and the flowers are great- cool dimension!
Both cards are marvelous, Lynn! Wow on your use of the stencil with the embossing glue and powder on the grad card -- it creates a stunning backdrop for your star border. I love the look of your vellum jar, too -- to me it looks more "vintage" than "dirty," and your flowers are super sweet. I think these are both pretty spectacular!
I love BOTH cards and they are a perfect use of snippets.
Hugs, Sarn xxx
Both fantastic snippets cards Lynn, the stars and stripes look great, love the sparkle on there too. The flowers in the jar look lovely too, Cathy x
Love both of these! I think the jar looks like that frosted glass.
I just love the look of the stenciled and embossed background, Lynn, and the stars are perfect for a graduation card!!! Love your pretty flowers and *dirty jar*, too!!! Super awesome designs!!!!
love both cards but the star card is my favourite such an innovative idea - best wishes Lesley x
That is one fantastic graduation card and the sentiment is perfect!! Love those glittery stripes!
The flower card is beautiful! As for the 'dirty' jar, let's just say it's frosted glass! :)
