A Couple of Flowers

I have a double-r here today using a stamp from Unity - just a vase with a flower in it but I thought it was a pretty stamp.   Adding cards to the stash.

Both are "git 'er done" cards.  On the first one I stamped the flower twice and popped up part of it to give it a little dimension.  Also used some patterned paper that was sitting on my desk from another recent card I made.  The second card - did a little stenciling behind the image, colored, stamped with a "thank you", and added some Nuvo drops.

Two simple cards but will be good for whenever I need them.

Thanks for stopping by ........and keep smiling!

Just a Note - PIP

It's time again for another wonderful challenge from Pammie's Inky Pinkies Challenges.  Our sponsor this time is Polkadoodles.  Be sure and enter your card in our Anything Goes challenge for a chance to win a prize package from Polkadoodles.

For my card today I used an image from Polkadoodles of the little girl posting a letter.  I added some trees with a Spellbinders stamp and some clouds.  For the "snow" I used Twinklets Diamond Dust which is a chunky type of glitter.

Be sure and stop by our challenge and enter for a chance to win!

Quick Post

And................She's back!  YAY!

Yes, I'm back now from all the travels.  My daughter and I took a mother/daughter trip at Christmas and went to the Grand Canyon.  We'd never seen it before other than flying over it so it was nice to see.  Everyone should probably see it at least once I guess.  I was so proud of her.......she didn't even act like she wanted to push me over the side of the canyon!  Amazing!

After leaving there the plan was to head to Vegas but due to the weather, we ended up in Phoenix.  They do have casinos there though too so............One pull on the slot machine there and she won $300.  Numerous pulls on the slot machine - and I basically donated money to the casino.   No trip would be complete without a little shopping so we also hit the outlet mall there.  She got to spend some of her winnings - and as usual, I just got to spend my hard earned money.

Got back home from that trip and did all the Christmas business with the grands - and then I took off to do the "I need to see my brother" trip down to south Texas.  All this was really nice but it's even nicer to be back home.

There's no way to catch up on all the commenting so I'm not even going to try.  I know I've missed so much though.  Slowly but surely I'll be back around.

I'll leave you with a super simple "git 'er done" card using a new image from Studio Katia and some tri-colored Spectrum Noir markers that were a very special gift from a sweet friend.  (I do like the markers too!  They seem to blend really easy).

Moving Slow........

Moving slow on a Monday morning.

The image and the sentiment are Gerda Steiner Designs.  I used a stencil and some distress inks behind the cute little guy (or gal), colored with Copics, and that was about it.

Just a fun card to take you into this week.

I'll enter this in the challenge at AAA Cards (friendship).

Got Mail?

The last couple of pictures I've posted on here have all looked crooked to me.  The only thing I can think of is that my head isn't screwed on right.  That's a very strong possibility too!!!  For some reason though, this one ALMOST looks straight.  Maybe the head is starting to cooperate a little more now - and then again, probably not.

Anyway............I used the Flowering Mailbox from Art Impressions on this card.  Did a little watercoloring with the Marvy markers and then framed it out using some Kraft, pink and purple type card stock.   Done deal.

Sunflower/Daisy Note

I just found a great challenge called AAA Cards and thought I'd play around this week with their sketch and see what I could come up with.

I used a die from Memory Box for the trellis and then cut some of that wonderful burlap with paper backing that Connie sent to me.  It's so nice because you can die cut it and don't have a bit of raveling.  If anyone knows where you can get that stuff, let me know because it's just great for adding to cards.  I cut the frame with a SB die and then used yet another die from SU for the daisy/sunflower.  The sentiment from Hero Arts was stamped in Versafine Brown and then heat embossed with clear embossing powder.

I only used the sketch and not the colors on this one.  I'm so bad at color challenges and it's like a have a mental block against them!  Next time I will try though........hopefully.

Just a Note

Just a note......to say I made another CAS card today.  (Um.....I really didn't mean for that to rhyme, but it did)!  I'm really not that clever!

This was one of those spur of the moment brain storms (or brain - somethings) using some scrap pieces of paper.  The yellow is from SU, red strip from Simple Stories, and the notebook looking paper from somewhere else - but can't tell you where because the cover came off the 6X6 pad and is now history!  I don't even think I've ever used the notebook paper before mainly because it always appeared to be a little dirty looking or smudged.  Maybe that's the "distress" look of it.  Anyway!  The sentiment is from Paper Smooches.  This was stamped in Momento Luxe and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.  The sequins in yellow, red, and blue were added and then the tiny clothes pin clipped on.

I'd like to enter this in the Paper Smooches Sparks Anything Goes challenge this week and also Fusion.  See the sketch and photo for the Fusion challenge below.  I'm pretty sure I even "fused" them together!

Stitches

If you're looking for some kind of fantastic straight stitching - you're NOT going to find it here!  After attempting to stitch on that curved line about 3 times, I finally just gave up and decided what you see if what you get!  What else can I say!

I used markers to color the stamp and then huffed and puffed and all that kind of good stuff.  I also punched out a couple of flowers and popped those on top of several and added some pearls.  Just a quick way to send a note to someone.

I'll enter this in the challenge at Pixie's Snippets Playground (little flower snippets) and also CAS-ual Fridays (stitching).

Photos and Fire Ants

A couple of weeks back, Lesley, over at Always Playing with Paper, had the prettiest card using some of the the Papillon Potpourri images from SU.  I really liked it and decided to CASE it today.  I used some Real Red, Black, and White for my card.  I didn't emboss on this like she did but thought it would make a good note card just the same.

Of course nothing is EVER easy for me!  I got the entire card completed and then decided to go ahead and add the little feelers to these guys.  Not a problem at all - got them all lined up - stamped away - and WOW!  I did it without messing up the card!  Then looked down and had a couple of smudges of black ink on one side!  SO, I ended up adding a little more polka dot DP to cover them up!  Whew!

SOMETHING TO SMILE ABOUT TODAY.......When I take a picture of my cards I usually like to do it outside.  Depending on the time of day and where the sun in coming from, I have to sit on the concrete patio and place the card on an old barn wood bench to take the shot.  We've been having a run on Fire Ants lately and if you don't know what they are, just feature an ant that's bigger than a sugar ant and yet smaller than a red ant and can sting like no body's business!  Ouch!  They hurt so bad......As I was sitting on the concrete yesterday taking this picture I didn't notice it, but actually sat in a few of these little boogers and they got in my pants - just stinging away!  I came flying in the house, pulling my pants down in the process...I won't even go into the comment that Jim made!  LOL!

Hope everyone is having a good day.

A Krafty Note

I'm still not real sure where I thought I was going with this card.  I probably had something very creative in mind, but....well, you know!  LOL!  Anyway, after it was all said and done, I actually kind of like it.  At least I like the ribbon and believe that's the first thing I grabbed when I started this.

Just a note - and a little different.

The last couple of days have just been crazy around here.  On Sunday, all the company left (YES!) and then that night we had either a twister or tornado hit - blew a lot of shingles off the house and scattered limbs, lawn furniture, and anything else that wasn't nailed down, all over the country!  Yesterday was spent cleaning up around here and my husband and a roofer got up on the roof and patched it since we were suppose to have more bad weather last night!  And bad it was.....but thankfully, the brunt of it missed us.  Several towns in the area had tornadoes and there was so much damage. My heart goes out to those that lost so much.

Smile

Hope this cute little Basset hound puts a smile on your face for the weekend!  I think most Bassets are usually more of a white color with brown or dark colored splotches on them.   But, this one is all brown - mainly because I just wanted it to be!  That cute little face kind of contradicts the sentiment that says "You Make Me Smile/Have A Great Day", but just looking at him makes me smile.  I colored the image with Prisma pencils and added a couple of tiny little pearls to the flowers on the hat.  The Night of Navy panel was embossed with the Square Lattice from SU.

This is for several challenges today.  Rubber Redneck has a color challenge to use Old Olive, Night of Navy, and Daffodil Delight.  At Karen's Doodles the challenge is to "Frame It" (and by the way, this is one of those cute, cute images from Karen's Doodles).  And last by not least, the challenge at Scrapalicious is "Smile"!

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.  We're just going to have a HOT one!  Yesterday it got up to 105 degrees and today it's suppose to be up to 106.  Now come on, that is just WAY TOO HOT!

Mojo Coffee Break

How about a little Mojo Coffee Break!! If you don't know what I'm talking about, well.......this card is for two challenges......Mojo Monday and Diva Coffee Break Designs. The sketch is from Mojo Monday and those colors.......WHEW......are from Diva Coffee Break Designs. I really, really, worried about putting these colors (Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, Tangerine Tango, and Rich Razzleberry) together, but somehow they actually looked good! Now, the problem was I didn't have any Rich Razzleberry - or anything that I thought was pretty close! The best I could come up with was Purely Pomegranate. If you look at it from a distance it sorta looks like the Rich Razzleberry. I guess you just have to use your imagination!!!!

The images are from Great Friend and the sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes (SU). I added two little pearls at the end of the sentiment and really liked that look. I embossed the white background with the Birds and Swirls embossing folder.

The Pecking Order

After so many wonderful comments on my posts from all of you ladies, I just have to say.......

In the pecking order yall are number ONE! Thanks so much for all the sweet comments. They are appreciated so very much!

Just a very plain Real Red and Kraft card I made last week. I keep thinking I've made one just like it at some point and time...maybe it's just because I've looked at it all week and hadn't posted it! Anyway, these darling little chicken images (Rubber Stampede) were sent to me "just because" from Susan over at Susan's Day Off Creations. Check out her blog - wonderful creations. She had commented on one of previous posts that had a chicken on it and I had mentioned that the card was going to my sister-in-law since she LOVED chickens (figurines, etc). As a result of that card, she sent me these precious little images. Aren't they just the cutest! AND my sister-in-law will be receiving another card!!! The ribbon was in my stash and I believe the button is from SU.

Summer Flower

This is just a summer card to say "hello"! I hope everyone is enjoying their summer. It's a hot one for sure, isn't it! Whew! But winter will be here soon enough I guess.

This image is from Designed2Delight.......isn't it just the cutest! This is for their progressive challenge. I'm posting it today (a few days before the deadline) because I want to make sure and get the next free image for playing - and - I have a big order of baby/children's cards to complete so may get too busy later in the week to complete it. I'm also going to post it for the CAS-tastic Wednesday Challenge. The object of this weeks challenge was to create a summer themed card. This really is not anywhere close to my version of clean and simple but I think to alot of ladies, it probably would qualify.

I used Summer Sun, Wild Wasabi, White, and some patterned paper I had in my stash. I stamped the image twice and cut the flower out and popped it up. You can barely see the little mouse poking his head out of the grass! The bee (CTMH) was stamped, then cut out, and added to the flower.

Cherries for You

I'm not real crazy (at all) about this card, but here it is anyway! I just felt like it needed something else but for the life of me, could not figure out what. Everytime I look at it, I keep thinking "VEGAS" (you know, slot machines and all that)!!! Maybe I should have changed the sentiment to "good luck". It will still make a cute note card for someone and maybe brighten their day.

This is for Clean and Simple stamping FTL98 and for CAS-tastic Wednesday Challenge (to use Kraft). The cherries are from the Tart and Tangy set and the sentiment from Tiny Tags (SU). I "glazed" the cherries in Liquid Glass (CTMH). The paper I used is Kraft, Real Red, White, and a DP from SU that is now retired.

Favorite Color

We all have a favorite color, I'm sure - and mine just happens to be blue! So when I saw this challenge at Always Playing With Paper, I knew I HAD to play along. This is only their 2nd challenge - but it's a fantastic one with the challenge being to use the colors Brilliant Blue, Bashful Blue, Old Olive, and white (or similar colors).

As instructed I used the colors listed for the challenge. I embossed the Bashful Blue with my Swiss Dots Embossing folder. The image is stamped with my markers using the Watercolor Trio set (2 different images). The sentiment is from Lots of Thoughts (also SU). The small butterfly was cut with the Beautiful Wings die. I attempted to somewhat pleat the Old Olive ribbon and thought it came out ok. The image is framed using a rectangle Nestabilities, sponged around the white with the Brilliant Blue, and then popped up on dimensionals.

Hello Daisy

I had some scrap pieces of paper sitting on my desk and this is what became of them! It's a very simple card, but I like the clean lines of it.

I used the Daisies 2 die from SU. The paper is Cameo Coral, Baja Breeze, Very Vanilla, and a SU patterned paper. The sentiment is from the Gracious Greetings set from CTMH. I used the Leafy Branch embossing folder on the vanilla piece but it's rather had to see it in the photo. The "ribbon" that runs through the button is actually a very thin strip of the patterned paper.

Late Again!

I see so many wonderful "challenges" on different sites - however, by the time I get around to using the layout, inspiration, colors, or whatever they are about, the day to post them is long gone!!

As usual, I'm late again - but not TOO late. I believe this challenge was posted on Monday. Hey, today is only Friday, so I figure I'm good to go! I do like looking at the challenges for ideas, etc. This is for the Sketch and Stash Challenge blog.

I haven't used the Eastern Blooms set from SU in a while so thought I'd go with that one. The paper I used was Chocolate Chip, Baja Breeze, Pretty in Pink, white, and Parisian Breeze patterned paper. The butterflies were cut using the Beautiful Wings die. I think maybe I should have cut the flower out in a darker pink as it's kind of "washed out" in the photo. (I'm still working on the light box - haven't found the right size box yet.)

A Little Hello

There's just something about a red and white card that makes me happy. Now I know everyone is tired of red and pink cards from Valentine's but......here it is anyway-another one with red!

This image is a free digital from the Stamping Boutique. After coloring her with Bic markers, I put Liquid Glass (from CTMH) on her "slicker'. The frame around her was cut with my Nestabilities. The patterned paper I used is some unknown brand that I had in my stash. I also used Real Red card stock. The sentiment is from Hero Arts Everyday Sayings. I used the Scallop Punch and then tied the white ribbon over the red strip. Last, but not least, I added the bow and button.

The Nesting Bird

I was NOT going to post this card but just couldn't resist. I'm STILL laughing.............

I decided that I could make one of those little flowers that everyone is doing right now. So I got all my gear out and decided to make it out of newspaper (mainly to see if I could actually make one). Anyway, I got it made and tacked on the card, showed it to my husband, and asked him what he thought (sometimes it's best NOT to do that)! Here's the conversation.....

"Hey, I really like the little bird nest." So, I'm looking around and say "What bird nest?" He points to the card and says "THAT bird nest - but you really need a bird in it!" He was looking at my flower!!!!! I felt like I was six years old again showing a picture I had drawn to my mother and she didn't know what it was! Anyway, I punched out the little bird and put him in his "nest"!! I'm still laughing.........

By the way, I used Old Olive cardstock and Good Morning Sunshine patterned paper. The branches were done with the Little Leaves die and the bird punched with the Bird Punch. The sentiment is from Hero Arts Everyday Sayings. I added the rhinestones under the sentiment. And yes, the bird is "nesting" on my newspaper flower!
