Baja Bird

I saw this layout (or at least something similar to it) on ICSketches and decided to try it. I got this entire card completed and decided I DID NOT like it.........but then, after looking at it for awhile I decided I really did LIKE IT! Go figure............Anyway, here's the card.

The reason I titled it "Baja Bird" is because the blue cardstock I used was Baja Breeze. I also used white, Kraft, Chocolate Chip and Parisian Breeze DP. The bird was punched out (and then popped up) with that bird punch from SU. The "branch and leaves" are from the SU die, Little Leaves. I also used my Swiss Dots embossing folder and the Labels 3 Nestabilities. The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes from SU.

A Birthday Spin

This is for one of the grandchildren that will be turning 12 this coming month. Now, being a girl, you know she's going to like "bling" so I added the rhinestones and glitter - wanted to add maybe a larger rhinestone in the center of the flower but decided that was just a little "too much".

This will be for Tuesday Morning Sketches (39). It was a cute sketch and I thought the little bike from Our Craft Lounge was a perfect fit. This stamp set has so many cute things that can be added - like the streamers that I used the glitter on, etc. The presents on the back are from the Loads of Love accessories from SU. I stamped these (using the StampAMaJig) and then stamped them again on the DP, cut them out, and then paper pieced them on the original image. The paper I used was Pixie Pink, White, Black, and Paper Studio DP.

A Whole Lot of Hearts

Well, first of all, I think I may live through all this allergy stuff (although I AM still looking for a chain saw big enough to take care of this huge oak tree that has caused all this mess)! Finally broke down and went to the doctor yesterday and, of course, it had all turned into bronchitis, asthma, walking pneumonia, whatever..........But I'm actually feeling better after all the meds he gave me and even felt like doing a little creating today! Yea!

This is for the Clean and Simple FTL84. I NEVER make a square card (and to be honest, may never make one again) but that is want the sketch was kinda calling for. Anyway, I AM getting a jump on Valentines cards for next year. LOL!

The image is from Soul Mates by CTMH. I stamped it in Real Red, then in VersaMark, then heat embossed it with clear embossing power. The sentiment is from SU Teeny Tiny Wishes. I added some rhinestones and then punched out the hearts for a "border".

Hoppy Birthday

This is for the Clean and Simple Sketch 82. It was a very quick card to do - and I was so impressed with myself - I didn't mess up on it a single time!!! YES!

Cardstock I used was Wild Wasabi, Tangerine Tango, and White. I used Momento Tuxedo Black ink. The image is from Penny Black, Toadily and the sentiment from SU, Unfrogetable. I colored the little frog and flower with Prismacolor Pencils and topped it off with a MS punch and CTMH orange gingham ribbon.

How About Some MoJo (129)

I don't think I've ever done more than maybe one of the MoJo Monday Challenges - but today decided to play along. I just received my new Vintage Vogue set yesterday!! When I first saw this set I really didn't think I'd be purchasing it......it just did not scream "Lynn"! However, after seeing so many pretty cards with it, decided to go ahead and get it. I'm SO glad I did....it's just gorgeous and I've already made three cards using it! Other than to seldom do the MoJo Monday, I also never make a green card or do "masking". But, today, we have green and "masking"!

As I said, the stamp set used is Vintage Vogue - and I also used the Vintage Vogue wheel. Cardstock used was Handsome Hunter, Certainly Celery, White, So Saffron, and Basic Gray DP Porcelain collection. I used ink from CTMH-Ponderoso Pine and Sunflower. I clear embossed the flowers and then added the pearls. The "masking" was done with SU markers for the "greenery" around the F. The bow was done using my trusty Bow Easy.

Clean and Simple Challenge #81

This card is for the Clean and Simple Challenge #81. You know, sometimes the simplest things can really turn into a chore! This sketch looked so simple!! I worked on this card ALL DAY LONG. I finally got everything like I wanted it and looked down and had smeared blue ink all across the bottom! So, back to the drawing board....Anyway, here's the end result.

I used two SU sets - Just Beachy (for the fish) and Pony Party (for the little birthday hat). The sentiment is computer generated, cut out, and then a little sponging around the edges. The "waves" were done using the scallop edge punch.

YEEHAW!!!!!

I am NOT a distressing type card maker at all! But, for the StampsRUs Challenge blog the instructions were to distress! So, here's my attempt at this. Usually when I try to distress something it either looks like I needed a new blade in my paper cutter or a mouse has been chewing away at my paper....I may try to post another one (distressed) before the end of the month. At the StampsRUs challenge blog you have a whole month (YES!) to post your entry.

The image I used is a digital freebie that you can find HERE. A cute little cowgirl....and yes, like the sentiment says, there's a little cowboy in all of us! The paper I used was all from CTMH-Dutch Blue, Sunflower, White, and DP. I also used (from CTMH) the Chocolate Distressing ink and some Dutch Blue ink. The sentiment is from CTMH Yehaw. I used various markers and Prismacolor pencils to color the image, jute twine, and a little glitter on the fringe on her blouse.
Note: You may have to "click" on this to see the distressing better - however, BEWARE, if you do. This little babe's lips are just wild. They remind me on my great aunt....as she got older she always wanted to wear lipstick but just never really hit her lips and it was usually all over her face. Now this isn't that bad, but the lips did get an extra dose of red it seems!!!

Late Again!

I see so many wonderful "challenges" on different sites - however, by the time I get around to using the layout, inspiration, colors, or whatever they are about, the day to post them is long gone!!

As usual, I'm late again - but not TOO late. I believe this challenge was posted on Monday. Hey, today is only Friday, so I figure I'm good to go! I do like looking at the challenges for ideas, etc. This is for the Sketch and Stash Challenge blog.

I haven't used the Eastern Blooms set from SU in a while so thought I'd go with that one. The paper I used was Chocolate Chip, Baja Breeze, Pretty in Pink, white, and Parisian Breeze patterned paper. The butterflies were cut using the Beautiful Wings die. I think maybe I should have cut the flower out in a darker pink as it's kind of "washed out" in the photo. (I'm still working on the light box - haven't found the right size box yet.)

Mercy's Sketch Challenge 58

I really enjoy using the Upsy Daisy set from SU and it makes anything from birthday to get well cards. Just so many uses for it. This is a get well card to add to my stash as I'm always needing one and never have one when I need it! The layout I used is from Mercy's Sketch Challenge this week.

As I said, I used the Upsy Daisy set and also Teeny Tiny Wishes. The paper is Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip, and White. The patterened paper is Parisian Breeze. What am I going to do when I run out of Baja Breeze paper! I love that color.....Anyway, I also used some oval punches and the Scallop Trim Border punch. The ribbon matches the Baja Breeze paper perfect - and I don't have any idea where I got it!

Paper Craft Planet Sketch Challenge

"...the stockings were hung by the chimney with care, in hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there....." Now I don't know about yall, but I think St. Nicholas needs to hurry up and get here so we can finally get through all the Christmas rush!

This card is for a Paper Craft Planet sketch challenge - go check it out and just leave the tag sk121909 on your photo. The image is from a Close to My Heart set called Sweet Sixteen. She was stamped, colored, paper pieced with some of the background paper, and then popped up on dimensionals on an oval nestabilities. I added a little glitter to the cuffs and star. In the photo, the cuffs and star appear to be blue, but they are actually purple. The purple piece on the bottom was embossed using a SU texturz plate. I added flowers with the brads and the sentiment (also CTMH).

Anyway....back to Christmas......I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas with their family and friends. All of my company will start arriving tomorrow and the last group will be leaving on January 2nd. So, I probably will not be posting again until after that date.

i {heart} papers Sketch Challenge

If you pop over to the i {heart} paper web site, you will find a DT sketch challenge on their blog. I thought I'd try this sketch as it looked simple enough. Oh my goodness, was I ever wrong! This was very tough for me. I think I created three cards before I ever got one I liked. Now I know mine cannot compare to the DT members but thought I'd post it anyway.

Every time I looked at this sketch and saw the triangles, all I saw were Christmas trees (maybe it's because I know I'm going to have to drag out all the Christmas decorations pretty soon - sometimes that turns into a chore and yet I dearly love that time of the year)!! Anyway, my first card had cupcakes on it. I thought it was just "ok" and I may post that one at a later date. My second was Christmas-sy, but was just blah! This is my third attempt.

The sentiment is from a Martha Stewart stamp set I got at the after Christmas sales last year at Wal-Mart. I think I paid all of $2.00 for the whole set. The paper I used was SU Real Red, white and Real Red DP. The "star" on the top of the "trees" are rhinestones from CTMH. I punched out a snowflake with a very small punch I had and added a red rhinestone. The white background was embossed with the Snowflake folder and my Cuddlebug.
