I love to see what other people do with watercolors and they're always so pretty! I didn't have any watercolors and finally decided to bite the bullet the other day and buy just a very inexpensive set at Michael's. Um.........I'll just say this......I'm glad I didn't invest a lot of money in them! Maybe with practice I'll get the hang a little better.
I kept this as easy and simple as could be by just smearing some of the colors for the sky and stamping this image from Crackerbox Palace. I love the image for guy cards and since I have a few guy birthdays coming up soon I thought I'd give it a try with watercoloring. If they like the color purple I have scored a hit!
Thanks for stopping by.........

I certainly think you scored a hit. I love that beautiful skyline with the awesome colors. Keep up the good work, Lynn!
Have a super weekend, too.
Hi, Lynn! Actually, your sunrise is gorgeous - and the silhouette looks amazing. If this is your first time, you've done a great job! I, too, tried inexpensive WCs at first, and the intensity just was not there. I also did not have very good WC paper. Since then, I've purchased better supplies (yes, from Michaels), and the color intensity is much better. Here is a good tutorial. It shows to lay water down before applying color, to control where the flow of color goes. Of course, you can always add water all over to achieve your type of background. And you can even use your water-dye-base reinkers for color, too! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=STsvQNE7wfw I love your card! hugs, de
It looks lovely to me, Lynn! Great colour choices! And this is fabulous for a guy card! I would say - don't give up on watercolour - you've done great! I have done the odd watercolour background (not lately though) and it's not really my thing either, although now seeing yours I would like to try it again! You always inspire me! I used to watercolour my stamped images using Tombow markers but that went out the window when I started with digis - the printer ink would run! But I do love the look of watercolour - very nice!
For not "doing watercoloring" this is awesome! It makes me think of those old country western movies I watched with my Grandma. Great card!
I think it looks fabulous and I love that stamp silhouette.
WOW Lynn, the background looks fabulous hun, don't be so hard on yourself this is fabulous and I so love the stamped image.

OOH Lynn, I think this is absolutely gorgeous!! I love the water-colored sky here!! The silhouette looks perfect against it! You know, you can always pull out those SU! ink pads to do some water-coloring as well! No need to buy lots of things you don't need! :)
Hope you have a great weekend my friend! HUGS
WOW! Lynn this is amazing - what's not to like! It's a stunning scene you've created, paired with the serene hues from the sunset - you did just fine! Watercoloring is sooo relaxing and gives the cards such a soft look ♥ Be proud of this!
You are too, too hard on yourself, Lynn! Honestly, if you hadn't said, any of us would have thought you spent a lot of time watercoloring / sponging to make this glorious sunset sky to silhouette the cowboy and his horse! It looks just like nature does it! And the twine bow is the perfect finish!! Hugs, Darnell
This is gorgeous, love the fab silhouette and colours.xxx
Lynn you have done a lovely job on this, maybe your new found talent for using watercolours will be a wonderful new hobby for you, this is lovely, I think you've done really well

I think you did a great job with your watercolor. I love that image also but the sky is perfect. I also like the embossing in the background, just adds that certain something. Enjoy the weekend.
Wow Lynn, I think its fabulous, well done you!!

What do you mean you can't water color? I LOVE the sky! Actually, I find this type of water coloring quite appealing, and it's easy!
You've done well! Don't quit!
Lynn i think this looks brilliant, a lot better than my first go lol Stick with them, they are great once you get the hang of them xxx
Such a charming card, Lynn and what an amazing background.
Hope all is well with both of you. Somehow I am unable to comment on more than one post on your blog.
The doggie card below is just sooooo cute. I tried commenting but the comment box would not open. And the story is the same for the other posts.
Lots of love,
Monica
This is gorgeous Lynn! I LOVE that stamped image and your beautiful watercolored background!

Indeed you have score a hit Lynn! This masculine card is fabulous!! I love your water colored sunset!!! It looks really real so not sure why you think you aren't good with watercolors. And from what I've been learning, not all water color paints are created equal. So I guess I am saying, you get what you pay for. I've been the really good ones blend almost seamlessly on their own without much effort on your part. So don't give up yet, practice with your "cheap" ones and then get a good set and see if it doesn't make a difference. But to me, this card is perfectly water colored! Hugs, Brenda
For someone who has never tried the watercolors I think this is fantastic. I love the silhouette and that sky is beautiful. I applaud you for trying something different. Hugs, joann
Well, not sure why you don't like your efforts, but I think you did great. That is a marvelous background for this image and your blended sunset looks pretty good to me! (You say you just 'smeared'? Well, I need to learn that technique, kiddo!) The background was great with this image, and it's a really nice masculine card...liked the texture of the twine bow with this one. TFS & Hugs
Obviously you DO watercolor, Lynn. :-D This is magnificent! You nailed the sunset on your first try. Water coloring is all about suggesting images to the mind, not about painting photographic duplicates, my friend. I'm bowled over by this card.
Well I beg to differ with you! You can do watercoloring and you do it quite well in fact! This card is just amazing!! I love the purple fade to pale yellow and finishing twine! Awesome card!
Lovely card, looks fabulous in that design....the colours sure look good together...

The Journey is the Start
You've done a beautiful job here - the colors are rich and vibrant Perfect for the silhouette image. Don't give up on watercolors - they are the most forgiving art medium!
It looks like you do watercolor sunsets very well, Lynn! Love the image!
Oh wow Lynn this is absolutely stunning!!!! huggles Sue xxx
For not doing watercolors Lynn you did one fantastic job on that background!! Looks just like our evening sky here in the southwest!! I love the rider and horse image, really a beautiful card!!
Well, I think it looks great. The colours are beautifuland love the image!
Horse cards are the second fave in my family (after fishing)!!!
You need to do more!!!! I love this!!! Such a great sky - really! Fab card. Hugz

lovies, =o) kel
Oh dear me- this is just gorgeous! The watercolored BG is gorgeous!
Lynn--I agree with everyone else. This card is stunning and no one--NO ONE--would ever think this is your first try at watercolors!
Why are you being so hard on yourself. This is amazing! Just remember lots of water on the paper then add the color. It will make it's own places all by itself!
hmmmm... looks to me like Lynn has found a new medium and for a first-timer, you knocked it outta the park! Great job on this Lynn and I love the silhouette... perfect guy card.
I think you did great!!!!!! I IS a learning process. I'm getting just a 'bit' more comfy with it but still have a lot of learning to go!
Keep trying!!!!!!!!!
I think you do watercolouring now! This is stunning! From what I've gathered, it really does matter what kind of supplies you buy. I'm sticking with my mists since I already have them ;) The colours you chose are seriously perfect - what a beautiful sunrise!
Such a peaceful and GORGEOUS card!
Whoa...you did a fabulous job with the sky, Lynn....it looks gorgeous!!!!! Love the awesome image, too....this is such a perfect guy card!!!!!
