From The Gang - Seize the Birthday

First of all, I'm sorry I've been missing in action and haven't been by to visit anyone's blog the last few days.  We had a horrible wind storm on Monday with so much damage.  Other than losing half the roof, tree limbs everywhere, and a broken windshield on the car, we also lost the internet!  EEK!  I'll probably be a little bit "hit and miss" for several days but I haven't forgotten about anyone and will be by as soon as I can!

Now on to our Seize the Birthday challenge this week!!  We're using the same sketch as last week but need to see your masculine cards now.  Again, we're sponsored by The Alley Way Stamps...so many great stamp sets to choose from there.  Be sure and join in on our challenge this week for a chance to win a cute stamp set from The Alley Way Stamps!

I used the three little pups and a sentiment from "The Gang" (The Alley Way Stamps) set.  I guess this will have to be a birthday card from Jim (the BIG dog), Rambo (the furry one - even though it doesn't look like him) and from me - the chihuahua (the CUTE one with so much stinking personality)! LOL!

Be sure and come on over to Seize the Birthday and join in on our challenge with your masculine birthday card.

Thanks for stopping by........

Wanna Make Some Whoopie?

Jim's sister and brother in law recently got a little puppy named Sassie.  I don't think they've ever had a puppy before and about four days after getting it, his sister called saying they couldn't get Sassie potty trained!!!  Well, hello!  LOL!  It's going to be very interesting to see how this develops!  Anyway, our little doxie, Rambo, decided to send Sassie a "welcome" card.

I couldn't get a good pic of the inside due to being small printing, but here's what Rambo had to say to Sassie:

Hi, Sassie:
I understand you have a new home now and just wanted to say "welcome".  My name is Rambo and I'm the smartest and most handsome dog you'll ever see.

When you come to visit I'll show you where all the squirrels come into my yard and maybe you can chase one with me.....even though you're probably too slow - and I run VERY fast.  I won't show you where all my bones are hidden though because I don't plan on sharing any with you.

If you're as cute as everyone says, we may get along VERY well and could make a little whoopie (wink, wink)!  Come see me soon.

Love, Rambo (paw print)

Thanks for stopping by.............(and Rambo says hi to everyone)

Dreaming of What!

Spring hasn't sprung around here yet, but hopefully I can egg it on a bit with my card!

Jim saw this as I was taking a picture and asked "Dream, what?"  Lynn - What do you mean, dream, what?  Jim - Well, where's the rest of the sentiment - you know, like dream a little dream, dreaming of football, dreaming of swim suit models, etc.....(Eye Rolls!!!)  .Finally, I just told him you had to be a female to understand!  (That's ALWAYS a good response to a male!!!!)  So, in case you don't know what I'm talking about by just putting "dream" on my card, it means I'm dreaming of spring!!  I need green leaves, grass, warm temps, birds, butterflies, flowers, etc.....But, until then - here's my card!

All the images I used on this card are from stamps at The Alley Way Stamps.  The two sets I used for this were Crazy Critters and Tweet Spots. Cute stamps and a fun card to do.

I'll enter this in the inspiration challenge at The Alley Way Stamps.

Thanks for stopping by.............and have a great weekend!

I used the Jibber Jabber sentiment set from The Alley Way Stamps on this card!  There are some really cute sentiments in this set.  I also punched a tiny flower and added a pearl to it.  The die I used is from Memory Box.

Here's a shot of our new sketch for the week!

Riding a Bicycle

I got this new Memory Box die the other day and just couldn't wait to make a card with it.  I decided NOT to stress myself over trying to do all the distressing, and just made more of a classic type card.  I love the black, white, and red combo so went with those colors.

I really would love to try and ride one of these but figure I'd need the hospital alerted and also have an ambulance on stand-by!  Think it'd still be fun though.  I embossed the white panel behind the bicycle with the CB Distressing embossing folder (hey, I really DID distress on it! LOL) and the sentiment is from CTMH Memories.

The sketch I used (very literally) is from Sketch Saturday and I'll enter this in their challenge.

Spring Butterfly

We don't have spring just yet, and very few butterflies......but these colors just remind me of spring and I know it's going to be here soon.  Then it's going to be summer, and HOT, HOT, HOT!  Oh well......

I used some DP from the Basic Grey Porcelain paper pack and Pretty in Pink card stock from SU.  The butterfly and background for it were done with Flores Suaves, also from SU.

I'll enter this in the challenges at All Sorts (Things with wings) and Basic Grey (Favorite things - I love butterflies and this stamp set.  Even though I'm not much of a frilly type person, I love this DP!  The colors in it are just beautiful.)  I'll also enter this in the challenge at Shopping Our Stash (birthday - The DP I used is a couple of years old and the butterfly is from a SU set).

Springy Thingies - Seize The Birthday

It's Thursday and that means it's time for another challenge over at Seize the Birthday!  We want to see your birthday cards for the boys/men this week - using the same sketch as we did last week.  We're again sponsored by The Alley Way Stamps - and they will be providing a wonderful prize for the winner!!!  Be sure and check out our blog for all the details

This cute little monster and sentiment are from The Alley Way Stamps set called Monster Mash!  Isn't he a little doll!  Those springy thingies came out of a couple of ball point pens we had here.  I really had to search high and lo to find two pens in this house that used those springs.  It was probably time to clean out all the pencil/pen holders around here anyway!

Thanks for stopping by ............ and be sure and check out the Seize the Birthday Challenge and enter for your chance to win!

Full of Hot Air

Since Jim is always accusing me of being "full of hot air", I thought this would make the perfect Valentine's Day card for him!  Um.....he also accuses me of being "full of" several other things too, but won't get into that one!  LOL!

I just discovered a new digi store (to me) and love all of their images!!  After seeing so many cute cards on Connie and Linda's blog, I finally went over and checked out the store.  Adorable images and some of which will just be wonderful for these granddaughters I have that are starting to outgrow the "kiddie" type cards.   Check out Lacy Sunshine's store and you'll fall in love as I did!!!

Anyway, I checked out their challenge blog too and saw that they were having their very first challenge.....e-mailed Heather and she sent me a free image to use for it.  So here goes.............

We haven't seen the sun down this way in about a week, so the picture was taken in the best lightening I could come up (not great).  I was going to mask in some clouds behind this little guy but I got through coloring it and was so proud that it looked half way decent, I decided not to mess around with it any more.  I even colored within all the lines!!!!  YEAH!!!  Isn't that little frog about the cutest ever!!!

I'll enter this in the challenge at Lacy Sunshine (anything goes).

Off To Boot Camp

No, I haven't joined up - um.... don't think they'd take me at this age (THANK GOODNESS!!!).  I wouldn't last five minutes there!!!   This is going to a very sweet young man that IS in Army boot camp right now and thought he would probably like getting a little mail and a "cheer me up" card.

I used the sketch from CAS(e) this Sketch, added some stars, twine, and did the whole card up on Kraft card stock.  I didn't add many extras to it at all since I don't think guys really like all that "stuff" on cards.

Three of a Kind

It looks like my blog has gone to the dogs!!  Dog card yesterday and another one today!

This is a very special Valentine's Day card for a friend of mine (the same one that got me interested in stamping).  She has three of these little precious pups - two red doxies and one black one!!!

Marilyn (One Stamping Fool) e-mailed me a couple of weeks ago and pointed me in the direction of where I could get this set of stamps (There She Goes).  No way could I resist that!  Since we have our own little red doxie, Rambo, I knew I'd be using this set so much.    This is a CASE of a card I saw here - but I did change a couple of things about it.  The stitching was going to be some straight stitching - HA!  No way can I sew in a straight line good - so added some of my "crazy stitching" instead!

Thanks for stopping by.............and have a great weekend

You Just Gotta Love 'Em!

We're having another Seize the Birthday challenge starting today with a brand new sketch and sponsor!!
Our wonderful sponsor this month is The Alley Way Stamps!  I don't know if you've seen these before, but if not, you must go take a look at her store.  Such fabulous stamps!  And if you're the winner of our challenge you'll receive a fabulous set of stamps - see Seize the Birthday blog for all the details!!!

We need to see your feminine or girly cards this go round so come on over and play along.

I used two different The Alley Way Stamp sets on this card - The Gang for the chihuahua, bowl, and dog house and Monster Mash for the sentiment that I stamped on the dog house.  This is going to be a very special birthday card for my oldest granddaughter.  She's always wanted a chihuahua but has never gotten one.  Since I think her mom would just faint if I bought her one, I think the next best thing would be a card with this cute little pup on it.  You just gotta love those precious chihuahuas.  Too cute!!  Even though you can't tell in the photo here, I even fluffed out this little guys ears - kinda like the real thing!

Now, on to what our sketch looks like...............Another great one to be sure!

Thanks for stopping by............... come on over and play along.

Sailing Away

With so many folks being right in the middle of winter and snow everywhere wouldn't it be wonderful to just be sailing away to some tropical island, sipping Margaritas, and chilling out!!!  We haven't even had much of a winter down this far in Texas, but I'm still more than ready for spring and summer - green grass, leaves on the tress, warmer temps....well, you get the message.

A quick birthday card for one of the guys!  Even if they don't like sailing/boating or whatever, think they'll like the card.  I used some unknown DP for this - the red panel actually has darker red squares in it but you can barely see that in the photo.  The image is from SU The Open Seas.  My twine looks a little saggy so think I may have to straighten that out a bit before mailing.

Thanks for stopping by..............

It's All About the Hair

Happy Fun Friday to everyone!

How many of you ladies look like this in the morning - well, minus the gray hair anyway?  (Smile)  I used to use these same kind of rollers in my hair - many moons ago.  They were pink and oh so cute!  Actually, when I was younger my hair was not only curly - it was down right kinky!!  My mom tried to use rollers like this to straighten it out a little (this was before hair straighteners) but it just never seemed to work well. She tried to iron it (on an ironing board) and then tried something called Spoolies!  I'm REALLY telling my age with that one!!  (If you don't know what a Spoolie is - "google" it and you'll see pics - you can actually still buy the things!!!  Yikes!!!)  The Spoolies just made it kinkier than what it ever was!  Ugh!    When I got into college I started rolling it in orange juice cans (metal) and that helped somewhat - even though I did look a little strange!  Thank goodness, it's short now so don't have to deal with any of that mess any more.

I love the sentiment with this - both the image and sentiment are from Crackerbox Palace who carries some wonderful stamps!  I kept the outside and inside very simple and this will go to a good (old) friend of mine who doesn't want to admit it, but she's OLD!  LOL!  I followed some sketch for this but am sure the challenge is long past and don't remember where I saw the sketch.  It makes for a fun Birthday card anyway.

Ok, I think I've posted a card almost every day this week - gotta be some type of record for me!  So, I'll see everyone next week and won't bore you anymore over the weekend!!!  LOL!

Thanks for stopping by..........and have a great weekend.
