Pierced and Pieced

FINALLY, I'm through with the order for children's and babies cards! I didn't even take any pictures - was just so tired of making and looking at them! Whew!
This is for Always Playing With Paper challenge. It's an inspiration challenge (see the picture here). The photo is just beautiful!!! Made me think of food. So what better image to use than a chef and birthday cake! Plus some of the colors in the bowls are blue and orange so those are the main colors I used for this. Everything on this little guy has been paper pieced. I used Ballet Blue and Pawistively DP. I love plaid so I'm really liking his little jacket! The image is Voila from SU. On the birthday cake and tray I used some Creative Inspiration Paints - they REALLY make it shine. I used Fairy Dust on the cake and Silver Frost on the tray. The orange background paper was paper pierced on the sides.

Hope everyone has a great weekend........

Hook, Line, and Sinker

Just a really quick post for today! I'm right in the middle of making a whole bunch of baby and children's cards and just HAD to get away from the pink and blue colors for a few minutes.

This is for CAS77 at SCS. I used a couple of images from the Hook, Line, and Sinker set from CTMH. The challenge was called One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish. Well, we have one fish here and if you look really close you'll notice that the little fish has a red heart on his tail. I also used Riding Hood Red and Kraft paper. VERY clean and simple for today!

Summer Flower

This is just a summer card to say "hello"! I hope everyone is enjoying their summer. It's a hot one for sure, isn't it! Whew! But winter will be here soon enough I guess.

This image is from Designed2Delight.......isn't it just the cutest! This is for their progressive challenge. I'm posting it today (a few days before the deadline) because I want to make sure and get the next free image for playing - and - I have a big order of baby/children's cards to complete so may get too busy later in the week to complete it. I'm also going to post it for the CAS-tastic Wednesday Challenge. The object of this weeks challenge was to create a summer themed card. This really is not anywhere close to my version of clean and simple but I think to alot of ladies, it probably would qualify.

I used Summer Sun, Wild Wasabi, White, and some patterned paper I had in my stash. I stamped the image twice and cut the flower out and popped it up. You can barely see the little mouse poking his head out of the grass! The bee (CTMH) was stamped, then cut out, and added to the flower.

The Christmas Cat

Well, it's a fabulous Friday around here and I thought I'd leave everyone a smile going into the weekend! Things have a tendency to get crazy around Christmas time so thought this little guy would remind everyone what they have to look forward to in a few months.....yes, Christmas will be here before you know it!

The image is from Stampendous (Fluffles the Cat). For the layout I used OWH Sketch 20. After I stamped this image, I stamped it again and cut out the ornaments and popped them up (although you probably can't really see that in the photograph). NEVER again will I do that. Those little babies are so tiny to have to cut out! WOW.

Anyway, hope everyone has a fantastic weekend.

Baja Bride

I needed a wedding card for a friend's son that is getting married next week and thought this would fit the bill as their colors are blue and white. There are so many different shades of blue but on this card I used Baja Breeze. Love that color and so glad to see it again in the new SU catalog. I used the Square Lattice embossing folder for the background. The image and sentiment are from Blissful Bride by SU. I used Iridescent Ice on the dress - although you can't really see it in the photograph. I think the organza ribbon and pearls give it the "bridal" touch.

This is for Always Playing With Paper challenge - the layout. Check out this site and see some awesome cards by the DT - and players.

Ah, The Beach

Now tell me.....wouldn't it be nice to be at the beach right now? Maybe, and then again, maybe not. I keep thinking maybe I've outgrown the beach! I mean, all that sand sticking to you, salty tasting lips, feeling like you need a shower every five minutes, sunburn, etc..... Anyway, this little lady looks like she's ready and is loving the beach - hence the sentiment Life's A Beach! I guess you can look at the sentiment another way, but I like to think of it as being happy. Anyway, I WILL tell you this - This is NOT a photograph of me!!!! At least not yet!!

The image is from Art Impression and everything about it screams "fun"! I had the entire card completed, photographed, and ready to post and just kept thinking it needed something. So I stamped it again, cut out the rubber ducky inner tube, colored it, and then popped it up on the image. Now it actually looks like she's in the inner tube! And what kind of little lady would be seen at the beach without her rhinestone earrings!! The layout is for a challenge from Alissa over at StarryNightsStudio. Check it out - it's a nice layout.

Hey There Chickie

Is this not just about the cutest little chicken you've ever seen!!!!! I LOVE the little polka dots on him. It's a free image that you could get by playing the progressive challenge over at Delightful Inspiration. If you didn't play last week in order to get the free image, you can still buy it in her store.
This will be going to my sister-in-law as a "just a note" card. She absolutely LOVES chickens. She has them in her kitchen, dining area, and all through the house. CLARIFICATION: Susan, over at Susan's Day Off Creations just left a comment on this post wanting to know if she had like LIVE chickens running around everywhere.......When I finally finished laughing I figured I'd better clarify my previous statement - She has chicken type ITEMS all over her house - like figurines, pictures, etc....(Thanks, Susan!)

This was fun to do and I got to use my chicken wire background stamp again. I used Real Red, So Saffron, and White card stock. The image is framed using the Nestabilities Label 1 die. The sentiment is computer generated.

Winter Welcome

Now that everyone (or at least almost everyone) is in the middle of summer with the temperatures hovering around 90 to 100 degrees, I thought a "cool" looking Christmas card was in order. Is that why they call it Christmas in July - everyone just hoping for some cooler weather!!!

This is somewhat a CASE from Karen over at Feline Creative. I used a bird on my card, as she did, but turned it horizontally instead of using it in the vertical position. She has a fabulous blue bird on hers and I decided to use the cardinal. The stamp I used is from Rubber Stampede and reminds me alot of the image that SU has. I added some glitter to the branches to give it the effect of ice/snow/cold weather. The white panels are embossed with the Snowflakes embossing folder.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.......stay inside and turn up the AC and it'll feel like winter!!

Thanks to everyone on my last post.....and no, I'm NOT going to tell the story of the wine. Let's just say it was not pretty by any means. I will tell you this though....Don't EVER dance on top of a table with a dress on!!! LOL!

A Sip of Wine

I'm not a wine drinker - at all - but thought this little image from Designed2Delight was just fabulous. The reason I'm not a wine drinker is that back in my young and crazy days I drank an entire bottle - all by myself. Now you don't even want to know the outcome of that episode!!!

Back to the image........if you go to Designed2Delight on the first of the month you get a free digi image. If you play in the challenge, the next week you get another image, and so forth. This is the second week/image and I really like it alot.

It is also for Always Playing with Paper challenge (Last week I was one of the "Cut Above" and SO very excited about that). For this week you have to create something using the colors Rose Red, Certainly Celery, Gray, and Vanilla (or similar colors). The "gray" part of this really threw me but I used a layer of it in the matting for the card - and then realized that Rose Red and Gray are just so pretty together.

I stamped the image and then colored it with SU markers. The flower was stamped and then stamped again, cut out, and popped up. The paper I used is, of course, Rose Red, Vanilla, Gray, and Certainly Celery.

Go check out both of these sites as they are just wonderful.

Cherries for You

I'm not real crazy (at all) about this card, but here it is anyway! I just felt like it needed something else but for the life of me, could not figure out what. Everytime I look at it, I keep thinking "VEGAS" (you know, slot machines and all that)!!! Maybe I should have changed the sentiment to "good luck". It will still make a cute note card for someone and maybe brighten their day.

This is for Clean and Simple stamping FTL98 and for CAS-tastic Wednesday Challenge (to use Kraft). The cherries are from the Tart and Tangy set and the sentiment from Tiny Tags (SU). I "glazed" the cherries in Liquid Glass (CTMH). The paper I used is Kraft, Real Red, White, and a DP from SU that is now retired.

Loving That Chocolate

This is a little gift that I put together for a friend that dearly loves chocolate. I'm actually not that crazy about chocolate - in fact, don't even eat alot of sweets at all, but I thought she'd enjoy this. Of course the little box is full of the chocolate. I'd seen several people make this little box around Christmas time and found the template for it then (I really don't remember where it was though). It makes a very nice size little box for different things. The image is from a free digi from Bugaboo and the sentiment and flower are from Life Is (CTMH). I used Tempting Turquoise, White and Chocolate Chip.

Thanks So Very Much

Just a very quick post here to say THANKS so very much for all your thoughts and prayers for Jim and I. He's doing just fine. Good news - he did not have to have by-pass surgery (at least for now). We're kind of in a "holding pattern" for now as far as what comes next. I really appreciate all your comments for us. It just means alot to both Jim and I.
I will be posting again either tomorrow or Monday. As some of you probably know, a stay in the hospital is just exhausting - for everyone. I actually slept until 9:00 this morning!!!! Haven't done that in a LONG time!
Thank you

Just Delightful

How about just a red and white birthday card for today! Is this just a cute, cute, image or what? It's a free digital from Designed 2 Delight. I'm thinking I probably should have made a tent card for the challenge but really didn't realize that until I'd already finished this one. So, what you see is what you get!

I colored the image with Copics and SU markers and then used one of the scalloped circle Nestabilites. This was "popped" up on dimensionals. I again used the Swiss Dots embossing folder on the white part. The layout is from some challenge last week - but I just do not remember which one at this time.

NOTE: I will probably be out of commission for the next couple of days. Jim, my husband, goes in tomorrow to have an angioplatsy (at least I think that is what it's called) - they run the dye up to the ole "ticker" to see what kind of corks he has plugging up everything! Hopefully all they will have to do is insert a couple of stents to un-cork this mess. If not, then I guess we look at something a little more serious than a stent. HOPEFULLY not though. I'm trying to "make light" of all this so he won't be any more nervous than what he already is - and I'm just literally a basket case!!! Anyway, keep me in your thoughts and prayers and I'll be back in a few days. I will attempt to comment on every one's blog as much as I can in the meantime.

Baby Blue

No, we're not talking about the George Strait song.......we're talking about a baby boy card!

The theme for the challenge at Always Playing With Paper is "O Baby" (to create a project for baby). I needed to replenish my stash on baby cards and this was the perfect opportunity. Stop by Always Playing With Paper and see what the wonderful DT has created! This is also another card for the CAS-Tastic challenge (the layout) - see the previous post of the Thanksgiving Day card. This time, I turned the sketch on its side. As I said yesterday, it's just a very nice layout.

The stamp set I used for the image and the sentiment is Teddy and Train from SU. I used my Swiss Dots Embossing folder on White and then some Brocade Blue CS. I colored the little bear with Prisma pencils. Of course (as always) the bow was made using the Bow-Easy. I then added the little pearls. I mean, hey, you can have pearls on a card for a little boy too, right!!

Time for Thanksgiving

I know it's not time for Thanksgiving just yet, but thought I'd at least start making a few cards for this - I'll also be posting some Halloween cards soon as I have so many of those to make (all the grandchildren - plus).

The layout for this is from Cas-Tastic Wednesday Challenge. It's a wonderful sketch that you can do so much with. Check out their site and see the super cards the DT created.

The pheasant is from Autumn Days and the sentiment from Tiny Tags (both SU). On my first attempt at this I had just sponged the background behind the pheasant. After looking at it for a day, it just seemed so BLAH! So I carefully removed it and stamped another pheasant, cut out, and then on the background used some chalk and then off-stamped the wheat. I liked it this way so much better and it gave it a little more OOMPH! The fantastic ribbon is from WalMart! I found this last year and went back to get some more and they don't have it now. Every time I go into a WalMart I look for it though since it's so pretty.

The Little Marine

This is for the inspiration challenge over at Pals Paper Arts.......what a beautiful fireworks display!!! Of course, it made me think of the 4th of July, and stars, stripes......and the good ole red, white, and blue. This image is from Stamping Boutique and was a free digi. I'm hoping I colored the little Marine correctly. My husband is a former Marine and he said it looked fine.

If you celebrate the 4th of July, please have a safe and fun day.

Weather Update: As I said we weren't in the path of hurricane Alex - and all we got was a little wind and of course, alot of rain. In fact, I think we're suppose to have rain all the way through the weekend. But everything is good around here. Thanks to everyone for your thoughts.
