It's All About the Hair

Happy Fun Friday to everyone!

How many of you ladies look like this in the morning - well, minus the gray hair anyway?  (Smile)  I used to use these same kind of rollers in my hair - many moons ago.  They were pink and oh so cute!  Actually, when I was younger my hair was not only curly - it was down right kinky!!  My mom tried to use rollers like this to straighten it out a little (this was before hair straighteners) but it just never seemed to work well. She tried to iron it (on an ironing board) and then tried something called Spoolies!  I'm REALLY telling my age with that one!!  (If you don't know what a Spoolie is - "google" it and you'll see pics - you can actually still buy the things!!!  Yikes!!!)  The Spoolies just made it kinkier than what it ever was!  Ugh!    When I got into college I started rolling it in orange juice cans (metal) and that helped somewhat - even though I did look a little strange!  Thank goodness, it's short now so don't have to deal with any of that mess any more.

I love the sentiment with this - both the image and sentiment are from Crackerbox Palace who carries some wonderful stamps!  I kept the outside and inside very simple and this will go to a good (old) friend of mine who doesn't want to admit it, but she's OLD!  LOL!  I followed some sketch for this but am sure the challenge is long past and don't remember where I saw the sketch.  It makes for a fun Birthday card anyway.

Ok, I think I've posted a card almost every day this week - gotta be some type of record for me!  So, I'll see everyone next week and won't bore you anymore over the weekend!!!  LOL!

Thanks for stopping by..........and have a great weekend.
Lynn

Perfect sentiment and I admit my age by confessing that I remember those pink rollers. Terrific card, Lynn, and I'm going to have to visit Cracker Box Palace and pick up those stamps. Love the story about orange juice cans! Too funny.

How fun is this one Lynn!! Love the sentiment. Yup I remember spoolies, I ironed my hair and used the juice cans trying to straighten it also! Where were the flat irons when we needed them :)

She looks pretty good compared to the way I look in the morning...LOL!!! Gotta love those curlers and I agree with the sentiment!!!! Oh, btw...I remember my mother pin curling my hair....that had to be at the turn of the century...LOL!!!

Lynn, This card and your story had me laughing my head off this morning. Wonderful job with this image and that sentiment is great. Got to get that one. I just pictured my best friend when I read your story. I used to iron her hair and set it in "Spoolies" and then cans also. God, we're old! I, on the other hand, had the straightest hair in the world with not an ounce of body to it. I even did pin curls in my hair, remember those? Have a delightful weekend, Lynn. Sorry I'm behind on commenting these past couple of weeks. With working and a bad cold, there is no energy left for crafting or typing.

Love your story Lynn. And I remember trying to sleep on those pink rollers, they were better than the black ones that had the pokey things in the center of the curler. The card is great!

How did I miss your funny post on Friday, Well I guess it was meant for today, (for me) because I had alot of trials last week. I need to get tthis image, ASP...

Oh, gosh, you've been at my house in the mornings to take this picture, haven't you???Yes I DO remember the orange juice cans, the teased hairdo (had it done once a week, left it 'up' for 4 days. UGH!)But that was the deal back then, plastered with hair spray. Certainly glad I don't do that now. Couldn't stand it. This is an adorable card, great coloring, marvelous sentiment. Gotta look for these images...too perfect & funny. TFS

HAHAHAHAHA!!! Love this Lynn!!!! Too funny. I may not have curly hair, but I do think I look like that in the mornings (although I've given up all types of rollers) Hooray for short hair! The inside is a blast too. Your friend will love this card, who could resist it?!!

I'm sure I'm old enoungh to remember spoolies but I really can't. That's a bad sign!

hahahaha... now I know there's a stamp modelled after me! I don't do the rollers in the hair thing but the rest of it is fairly accurate!
Fab card Lynn!

LOLOLOLOL!! Love this Lynn! Super image and LOVE the sentiment! Made me chuckle out loud! 8-) I don't do rollers either, but I do look a bit like this minus most of the grey before I've had my morning coffee! lol

Egads! I still use sponge rollers to give my long straight locks some curl on the ends. Cute, cute card!!!

Margaret said...

Oh, how fun is this one! Fantastic image and the sentiment is terrific!

I look quite a bit like that (minus the rollers)every morning! I still use foam rollers overnight in my girls' hair when they want curls. Much easier than using the curling iron! I googled spoolies and had to laugh at the pictures! They don't look very comfy at all!!
