That Time of Year

It's almost here........and I'm not talking about Christmas either (although that's going to be here before we know it)!  Actually, it's that time of year around these parts when all the males get a little wacky (wackier), haul out the guns, ammo, and camouflage ....and hit the brush!  Yep, it's getting close to deer season!  Poor little deer!!!

I bought this Stampabilities stamp with just a masculine card or two in mind.  After I started looking at it yesterday it reminded me of all the mounted deer heads in guys houses and at Christmas they hang ornaments and tinsel all over them!  Uck, right!!!!  No, we don't have one in our house.  Thankfully, Jim gave his to his son!  Can you just image looking a beautiful animal like this staring at you all day long!  Yikes!  I didn't add the ornaments and tinsel, but did add some holly sprigs (MS punch) under him and added a couple of tiny red circles for the berries. The DP behind the deer was from one of the SSS kits (speckles and all) and the strip of paper from Basic Grey.

A very quick card that will be sent to one of our deer hunting friends at Christmas.

I'll enter this in the challenge at Pixie's Crafty Workshop (snippets).

Two Colors

It's challenge time at Digi Haven and we really have an easy one for you this time.  Just use two colors!  That's it!  We're being sponsored by My Grafico who generously supplied all the images for the design team to use.  Be sure and check out Digi Haven for all the inspiration from the design team - and also hop over to My Grafico to see all the wonderful images.  There's a prize involved so be sure and enter the challenge for your chance to win.

Skull and crossbones - what's better than to have a little scare for Halloween!  I used the image from My Grafico and just printed it out and mounted it on a circle nestie.  The orange and green (my two colors) are washi tape.  The washi was just a little boring stuck on there so I added a couple strips of black card stock.

Thanks for stopping by..............and be sure and stop by Digi Haven!

An Eye Opener

If all these little tiny flowers aren't an eye opener to wake you up this morning, nothing is....and that ribbon!!!  Yikes!  I really don't remember that ribbon being quite so bright on the card but since I don't have the card anymore, it could be!  This was a birthday card for blogging buddy Carol and it's already miles away from here.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY CAROL! I also don't remember this card being so busy looking....but when I look at it now all I can see are flowers!  And y'all know how well I do flowers!  LOL!!!  Anyway, flowers for Carol on her birthday!

The DP is from SU and image from Art Impressions.  Did a little paper piecing and zig zag stitching and it was pretty well done.  On the inside I put something like - glad it's your birthday and not mine.  Just a fun card for a very sweet lady.

Hello Fall

It's a fact now.........There was no way I had this much Confetti White (with all the little specks in it) paper - yet it just keeps growing and growing and growing!  I really don't know where it's coming from but I swear it's breeding back there in the craft room.  That's the only thing I can think of.  I know at one time I thought I just HAD to have that stuff, but really don't think I bought a ream of it!  Anyway.........here it is once again on my card.......along with that wonderful tree die that a good friend gave me!

I used one of the SU Tiny Tags, some ribbon, and the tree die from Simon Says Stamp.  I used a whole slew of snippets in various colors for the leaves. You notice that there's a few green leaves on this fall tree.....that's because fall really hasn't hit this area of Texas yet - but we're hoping for the best!

I'll enter this in the challenges at Pixie's Crafty Workshop (snippets), Pinspirational Challenges (inspiration photo),  CAS-ual Fridays (Fall colors and a leaf), and the Simon Says Stamp Challenge blog (to use a product that's available at Simon Says Stamps - tree die).

Freckled Face

It's really been "one of those weeks" around here so thought I'd post this quick and easy card.  The stamp is from My Favorite Things (Freckles).  When I was younger (MUCH younger), I had flaming red hair (not sure where all that went!!!) and freckles all over my body.  I think every time I got out in the sun, about a million more of those little gems popped out.  By the end of each summer I was just a general mess of freckles!  I still have the freckles - but I think they're considered "age spots" now!  Pretty sad to say!  Anyway............back to the card......I paper pieced both her jeans and her shirt out of some scraps (snippets) and then just colored the rest and popped her on top of the oval.

So, no Funny Friday today but hope to get back to those soon.

I'll enter this in the challenge at Pixies Crafty Workshop (snippets) and Alphabet Challenge Blog (paper piecing).

Thanks for stopping by................and have a great weekend.

Out of the Rut

I was scrolling through my blog the other day for some reason and felt like all my cards were looking exactly the same!!  A rut!!!  So, even though this is a clean and simple card, I did try using some of my Distress Inks and sprinkling a little water on them, etc.  The blending isn't perfect at all, but I'm working on that.  The image is from Serene Silhouettes (SU) and was stamped with CTMH ink.  I used some of the Confetti White card stock (also from SU) and love the color of that stuff, but don't really care for all the "confetti" in it.  All of the specks were almost covered up by the main image panel.  Just something a little different for me.

Still Summer

Since we still appear to be smack dab in the middle of summer around here I thought it only appropriate to post a summery type card using my anchor die and set from Paper Smooches.  It's very similar to one I recently did, but hey.....sometimes the old brain just gets clogged up with too much stuff and you have to go with what you can.   That twine stuff is something I picked up at Walmart thinking it'd be just "the thing" to add to a nautical card.  Turns out though it's so stiff you can't really do much with it......will have to put on my thinking cap a bit more on that stuff I guess.

I may be (and then maybe not be) missing in action for a couple of days around here.  If you don't see me lurking around you'll know I haven't gone far though and will return.

I'll enter this in the challenge at Pixie's Crafty Workshop (snippets - silver anchor, twine, and tiny heart).

Thanks for stopping by.......

Super Excited!

Super excited around here right now!  I've had so much going on in my life the last couple of weeks and this is exactly what I think I needed to put a smile on my face and basically make my day!!!!  I was asked to be Featured over at Paperie Designs Studio and the post appeared yesterday morning!!!  Go over and check it out - but try not to look at that horrid mug shot of me!  LOL!  It's a wonderful blog and just oozes with inspiration, not only from the team there but also all the other featured bloggers.  Very special hugs to Deepti for inviting me to do this.  It was truly an honor!

Quick card here using a little wooden bike from the last Simon Says Stamp kit of the month.  The sentiment is from Our Craft Lounge and the embossing was done with the Woodgrain embossing folder from SU.

I'll enter this in the challenge at Simon Says Stamp Challenge (embossing) and Brown Sugar Challenge (transportation).

Be sure and take a peek at Paperie Designs Studio!!

Party Pig Squeals

Looks like we have another challenge at Digi Haven starting today and it's going to be a fun challenge.  Kevin, who is on the DT has provided the wonderful sketch for this week so all you have to do is create a project using his sketch and come on over to play for a chance to win a great prize from our sponsor Beccy's Place!  Be sure and check out the blog for all the wonderful inspiration from the DT using Beccy's Place images, which she so graciously provided for us.

I chose to use the image called Party Pig from Beccy's Place.  I colored her up with Copics and Prismacolor Pencils, cut out the image, and popped it up on some Kraft card stock.  The sentiment is from SU and the balloons were punched using the small oval and owl punch - also from SU.  I added some bits of bakers twine to attach the balloons to Miss Pig.

Here's Kevin's sketch.......isn't it a winner!!!

I'll enter this in the challenge at Pixie's Crafty Workshop (snippets).

Be sure and check out the Digi Haven challenge and play along with us.

Flowers and Sam

A quick way to say thanks........ I used some Frantage behind the flower but couldn't get it in the corners without burning the whammy out of my fingers, so it is what it is.  Also, that's not a black speck on there - it's just some of the gold Frantage..........

Now, on to Sam............ A month or so I showed you Bob the buzzard that had taken up residence at our house.  Bob has moved on to bluer skies thank goodness........but now we have Sam the snake!  We call them Blue Indigo snakes around here and they don't seem to be poisonous but scare the living day-lights out of me anyway.  He's been hanging around for several weeks now catching mice and whatever else he does AND giving Rambo fits!!!  The first time, Rambo cornered him in the back yard and grabbed his tail and was slinging him all over the yard.  I finally grabbed Rambo and Jim grabbed the snake and took him to the front yard.  Rambo has cornered him a couple of times since then, but Sam usually just slithers away.  Yesterday, he was outside the fence so I snapped a couple of pics of him.  I zoomed in without getting too close though since he just creeps me out totally............He's only about 4 foot long and is probably a juvenile as they get huge.  Just hope his mom or dad doesn't how up.

Halloween Orange

Put on your sun shades in a hurry..........If this doesn't just jump off to page at you, nothing will!!  I would also love to say it's not quite a bright in real life as it is in the photo - however, it really is, and maybe even brighter!

I was rummaging around in the dollar store the other day looking for candy corn.....yep, don't care for Halloween, but candy corn is a whole different ball game!!!  I go a little crazy at just the thought of that stuff - and I very seldom eat sweets at all.  However, give me some candy corn and I feel like I've died and gone to heaven!

ANYWAY..........I was rummaging around and found these Halloween reflective stickers. They really do reflect too!  I walked through the house the other night and the night light was near the card and it lit up......and scared the pee-waddly out of me!   They were four to a pack and for a dollar it was too good to pass up.  I made four of cards using the stickers but  really liked this one best with the spiders (click to enlarge) on that piece of paper behind the sticker.  The sentiment is from Impression Obsession.

Thanks for stopping by........and you can take your sun shades off now!

Losing your Balls

I don't know about y'all, but I could use a smile this weekend!  Bugaboo images always make me smile so thought I'd give you a little golfer that's lost his balls.  I see one peeking out from under the main image, but don't think "Gus" can find his - OR the one on the card!

What more can I say......................um......Without getting too down and dirty!  LOL!

Thanks for stopping by......and have a great weekend!

Scrappy

Halloween is right around the corner almost so figured I'd better get busy with some scary (not) cards.  I've said it all along and will say it again.......I don't like Halloween!  (I LOVE candy corn though!!!!!)   However, I always end up making cards for this since I know the grandkids love it with all the dressing up and candy, etc.  Guess I'm just being a plain old Scrooge type person.

Since I'm not a fan of Halloween....what did I do except go buy a stamp set from Paper Smooches with all Halloween images!   Makes sense, right!  I used a new embossing folder from SU and a couple of scraps of DP.  I didn't feel like attempting to color Mr. Dracula's cape, so just used another scrap and paper pieced that.  The little bat was stamped on yet another small scrap and then cut out.  I wrapped a piece of red twine (another scrap!) to match his fangs and eyes around the DP.   See, I told you this was "Scrappy"!    This will be for one of the young boys since it doesn't have any of the fun orange or bling on it!

I'll enter this in the challenge at Pixie's Crafty Snippets Playground.

Thanks for stopping by..........

Cocoa Pumpkin

We're not even anywhere close to the season of Fall around here - yesterday was 102 and no relief in site for the rest of the week!  If I can't have Fall though I can always make a card using a Fall type image.

I used a little Cocoa image with the sentiment being from Close to My Heart.  I framed this little guy in a Polaroid type frame, added the ribbon and those little amber colored whatever-they're- called, and it's a done deal!  That "stuff" behind the image is Frantage (once again).  This was one of those cards that really didn't come out looking like it was suppose to.  In my mind it was border line sensational though!  LOL!  After making it I thought maybe I'd add more of the Frantage to the rest of the frame - but it was already tacked down on the card and wouldn't come off.  You just gotta heat set that stuff from underneath or it blows all over creation.  Anyway..........

I'll enter this in the challenge at Marks Finest Papers (Frame It).
