Unhip Hippie

Now, talk about an OLD hippie - this is it!  The image, from Dr. Digis House of Stamps, is called Duncan Disorderly.  Isn't it a cutie!  He must think he hasn't aged in about 40 years or more - and looks like he's still wearing the same clothes!! He's way past his prime and just doesn't know it yet.

I grew up in the age of the hippies but being from a small town in Texas I was more concerned with looking perky for the next Pep Rally, cheering on the football team, and just generally being Miss Personality plus! About as close as I ever got to even considered being "hip" was when  I wore my hip-hugging bell bottoms.  That was a sight to behold too.......I was so short (still am) so when I'd put them on it looked like someone had stepped on top of my head and just squashed me down!  But, hey, I was COOL looking for sure!

This is a pre-colored image and I got it thinking that'd it be great on saving time and all that - plus their coloring is so much better than what I can do.  I have to tell you though - this is the third card I made!  I just couldn't get anything to look right no matter what I did.  The first one was way too busy for me so I ditched it.  The second one was just wrong!  So, this is number 3 (I'm sounding like Goldilocks again) - CAS and it's done - like it or not.

Update on Bob the Buzzard!!!   Bob has moved on to greener pastures.  I'm so thankful for that since his hanging around was really giving me a creepy feeling.  Not to worry though as things are always popping out here in the boonies!  Today we had a sheep come visit the bird bath!  By the time I could grab my camera though he was scooting his little hiney heading back home - about a half mile from here.  Country living at it's finest!!!

Thanks for stopping by.............and have a great weekend!
Lynn

Well, isn't Mr. Duncan looking rather hip at his age! Don't they say you're only as old as you feel?! He must be feeling rather groovy! :)
LOVE the black, white and red color combination you used for this...just perfect!!!
I'm so glad Bob the Buzzard moved on! That would make me feel a bit creepy too after a while! Your stories are so interesting!!!

I would not say their coloring is better than yours, your coloring is very well done all the time. You did an outstanding job with this image and the peaces sign is just ideal. I, like you, was never part of the "in" or "hip" crowd but I was a very happy camper just the same. Oh how I remember and loved my hip hugger bell bottoms. I don't think one leg could now get into the bell bottom part of those pants now. LOL. Enjoy your weekend.

I'd much prefer the sheep! lol
I love the peace symbol - talk about the perfect little embellishment. I hope I'm as hip as Duncan when I'm using a walker. Also, his name? lol!

I have to disagree with your coloring comment. I have seen NOTHING wrong with your coloring! This one is very nice, but so are all the ones you've done yourself!! Love the layout on this one...had to laugh about the bell bottoms. I remember those! Hip huggers too. Very uncomfortable things they were too...and I still have trouble when I mistakenly get a pair of lowcut jeans. But yes, we were COOL. And looking back, those fashions looked a lot better than some I see today! TFS & glad Bob left for greener pastures. Hugs

OMG, Lynn, this is hysterical!! Since our generation is going to be the largest senior set ever, I have a feeling we are going to see a lot of Duncan's wheeling their walkers through the senior housing hallways!! I can't stop giggling!!

So glad to hear B the B moved on!! It would have been cute if you'd gotten a picture of the sheep's tiny hiney as he waddled away! I love that you stop and LOOK ~ and enjoy ~ all the critter moments happening around you!!

What a fun card, Lynn! This guy is so hip! Love the peace charm and I think this layout is perfect. I thought I was hip in a granny dress. Didn't like the hip huggers as I always felt like I needed to hitch them up or lose them. Those were the days!

Oh, Lynn, I'm laughing so hard after reading your story! I remember all those things, including hip huggers. And I seriously believe that I must have dated Duncan Disorderly at some point. This card is just too funny. Love the red, black and white combo. I don't know how the other two cards looked but this one is fantastic!

I'm with you on the hippie thing, Lynn...I was too busy with the drill team to worry about peace and free love...LOL!!! The image is adorable and your third try is the charm, for sure!!!!

LOL! I LOVE this!! I'm not sure what try #1 or 2 looked like, but #3 is a winner!! Gotta love the Dr Digi guys!

I'm glad your 'pet' headed for a new hunting ground! We frequently have sheep visiting our yard from my parents' farm. Dad jokes that it's a free lawn service-trimming and fertilizing all in one!
