A Little Bit Country
Jim is always giving me some kind of song and dance about when he was younger and being so poor he had to walk to school five miles - barefoot, etc......One of his best ones though is having to get water for his younger sister so she could take a bath since they had no indoor plumbing. He started out telling me that he had to go to the creek and haul water back up to the house for her bath. I mentioned that I really could not see anyone getting water hauled from the creek - I mean, why not just go to the creek and take a bath there! Makes sense to me anyway......Well, as time has gone on he's changed it to how he used to draw water and heat it up, etc......I personally think he's full of it!
Next time he mentions all this though I plan on giving him this card!!! LOL! The is an image from SU and it's colored with Intense water color pencils. The sentiment is also SU and the squiggly thing under it is from CTMH. The panel is embossed with the Square Lattice Folder from SU.
Since the cue word is "Country" over at CAS-ology, I'll enter it in their challenge.
Thanks for stopping by...........
Lynn

Lynn, This is a stunning card. I love the image and you did such a fabulous coloring job with it. The twine really fits in well here and the brown matting is ideal. I think the square lattice is my all time favorite for a background. I don't know about Jim and his stories, but I would be with you, just go bathe in the creek. Tell him I said he needs to think things through more before he tells a story. LOL (hope he can take a joke)
Beautiful card Lynn! Love the gorgeous embossed background and your coloring and shading is perfect!
Beautiful card Lynn, I like the image and the embossing.

What a pretty card and for a good purpose. Sounds as if he may have heard that one from his great grandparents. Ha
That lattice folder is one I didn't get but love so much. It has such super texture.
What a perfect card to depict your hubby's memories :) I think the older we get the more we tend to dramatize those good old days! LOL Funny :)
Gorgeous CAS card! I love that image and it's colored beautifully!

LOL! Love the backstory to this classic country card! Thanks so much for joining us at CASology this week!
Gorgeous, I love the embossed background to show off the lovely pump image and the simplicity really makes it outstanding!! Lynn Sorry taken me so long to get around to see all your lovely creations been a crazy two weeks!!
Fabulous card and love that image. I love the embossed background.
Hugs

Oh Lynn what a beautiful tranquil card - love the image and the way you have left it to take centre stage with simple (but stunning) mount is fabulous.
Jim's story sounds like certain ones I hear....
Blessings
Maxine
Love the image.
Gorgeous card,lovely design and details.xxx
So very, very pretty. Looks peaceful and serene and reminds me of my great grandmother's old house. They still had a hand pump in the yard (that worked) even though they had indoor plumbing.
LOL! Bet he had to walk barefoot in the snow a mile to school too!!! :)
Your card is fabulous. Love the image and your coloring is so gorgeous. Simple layout but very elegant. Are you sure you want to waste this card on him??? ;)
This is a lovely country card, Lynn! Your coloring is perfect, the embossing folder is perfect, and you've topped it off with the perfect rustic knot!
I think you got him on taking the bath right there in the creek! Ya gotta love a story-teller!! Hugs, Darnell
WOW, incredible coloring, Lynn! Love what you can do with those pencils. Too funny about all the "hauling water" stories. Reminds me of my dad's stories about snowdrifts and walking to school for the first 6 years of his schooling. Then he had to drop out of school because the winters got worse every year and he wasn't tall enough to get through the snow any more. :-D
Husbands the world over love to milk those stories! lol
This is such a perfectly lovely country card - LOVE that pump!
What a splendid story! I have this stamp, it's just so rustic and lovely - absolutely stunning card creation!!
cute card Lynn-and I love the look from the inktense pencils-your hubby's stories are funny-my hubby has one about selling veggies on the corner that his dad grew in their gardens
Love this card! This stamp is on my SU wish list, and you've used my fav SU EF on it. Perfect for your white background against this wonderful stamp. Loved the story too. My folks had some like that. May be a little embellishment, true, but it was definitely a harder time than we have now. Glad I didn't live back then! TFS & Hugs - love this card.
I so enjoy your cards --- and this one is no exception! And the hauling water story is, well, I think you have it right. He's full of it. Next time tell him "you know what they say about people with brown eyes" (they are full of @%!$). If he doesn't have brown eyes and responds with "my eyes are -----), tell him he's a quart low!. All in good fun of course. Have a great day!!!
You are so funny Lynn- I love this card- so clean and crisp- and always love your humorous write ups!
Stunning card LYnn!! I Have this stamp set. And I have to case it. Perfect card for my mom too. She lived in a small town called Laton and she always talks about how she had to heat up the water and walk outside to use there 1 out house For ten girls and three boys in here family.Yikes!!

Hehehehehe...thanks for the early morning giggle. Love the story behind the card, Lynn.
The card itself is beautiful. The texture behind the image is so great & focuses the eye to the pump and bucket. I love the colors you have with those pencils too. "Gonna have to add some of those to my stash.
Lovely card!
Lovely colouring... and the embossing folder is something that looks refreshing every time.
Love the hubby story! Love the squiggly thing. Love the card.
Talk about lovely!! How simply elegant and so beautifully Fall!!!
I remember as a young bride visiting my husband's grandparents. The farm house had no running water. It was a real eye-opener for me.
Beautiful card of days gone by.
LOL! I was just thinking how elegantly wonderful your fall card was when I read your post! Nothing like a beautiful card with a little jab included!!
This really is such a pretty card, even if it does have that awful water pump on there... poor Jim...
This is stunning! Love how vibrant those colored pencils are and the embossed background looks like quilting. Love it.
Gorgeous coloring and a great layout! My kind of card!
