I love watching videos of gals making cards - and get through watching them and realize they never mess up! HA! Guess that's what editing is for. I don't know though, maybe they don't mess things up like me. But give me some paper, stamps, whatever.....and I guarantee I'm going to mess up and have to re-do things numerous times. Then comes the part of taking a picture.....I could have every kind of photo editing program available and it still never looks as good as the real thing. Ugh! In this one the stars and background came out looking pretty much ok - but that owl looks like he's had way too much chocolate to eat! LOL! He really is a nice little brown owl and not a chocolate covered owl.
Back to video watching......I recently saw a card over at Darlene Design and thought - hey, I can do that! Yep, I did it - but not in one try! Anyway.....this is similar to her card - just changed up the design a little, added a different owl and sentiment, and then added a stick (yep.....from a tree) since I don't have one of those cute little branch dies - but do have trees! I stamped and then embossed all the little stars (Hero Arts background stamp) and then sponged Night of Navy ink all over it. The moon was a circle punch covered in distress ink. I've got several Graduation cards I have to make this year and since the colors are blue and white and the mascot is an owl, think this will work.
Thanks for stopping by.............
Lynn

Cute owl! I like his color...doesn't look chocolate to me. The start background paper is ideal.
Lynn, this is waaaaay cute. I love that you went into nature for your little branch. Who needs a die when you can do that? HA
That star background is awesome and sounds like a good bit of work. Love the "brown" owl and I love this graduation card. Very cool, indeed!
Love the stars and color Lynn the adorable owl does indeed look very healthy.
Hugs Diane
Exemplary job.
I'm still chuckling about the trees vs a tree die! Love it. You card is gorgeous too. Love how you created the background too.
This is adorable! Love the starry sky - this is a perfect graduation card with that sweet owl.
A fabulous card Lynn, love the star paper and the owl is fabulous!
Hugs

We must be "photography" twins. We both have the same exact problems. and I feel like nothing is going to help me. Anyway I think you card came out darling. Have a chocolate kind of day. LOL
I think this owl is cute, even though he's making me think of chocolate! Love that background and wish I could get my sponging to look that smooth and even!
Silly! It isn't the photographer--it is the CAMERA! That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. I love this card and the fact that you added a little stick to it. I did that once but first I had to park in far parking lot so I could collect sticks along the way (the problem of living in an apartment complex with a landscaper).
You crack me up! I sure do not see chocolate at all. This card is adorable, and the sky looks so awesome.
Your owl looks orange to me, like he was drinking too much orange juice! I don't see chocolate anywhere, except for the branch :) Cute card, and I love that sharp angle down in the corner!
Absolutely love your card and gorgeous starry background! Great thinking out of the box to convert a tree into a branch! Fabulous card my friend!
Such a cute little image and fabulous color - not chocolate at all. I love the addition of the real piece of branch. So much more creative than something that you've punched out.
I case'd her card too! Lol
Just had to laugh at this post! Did you plagiarize me? Sounds exactly like what I do. Now your cards always look wonderful, and your photo seems ok to me (but then we know I'm no expert at either!)I do the same with the videos, have great plans, but ....
This is so cute, love your owl, I saw Darlene's. Yours is just fine! He didn't look too chocolate-y to me,& he's a cutie. Bet he's hanging up in one of your country trees too! TFS a pretty card & giving me a chuckle too! Hugs
What - you didn't dip your owl in chocolate - poor owl ;-)!! Love the card Lynn - and well done on learning new stuff.
Blessings
Maxine
Girl I always mess up something :). Putting things on backwards, stamping upside down :)
But your card is fabulous. I love the stars and that owl and the branch is priceless.
super cute!!! i think (hope!) they mess up and just edit it out!! lol
I think this card is incredible, Lynn! Love how you did the background (what a lot of work that was) and the real stick beats a die cut any day. I like your "chocolate" owl and I think he's just perfect.
I'm sorry, Lynn. I don't know what else to say. I was mesmerized by the fact that you are a genius and you used a piece of stick on your card rather than being bummed out that you didn't own a fancy-smancy branch die and you ended up making a BETTER card BECAUSE you used a real stick on it and then the next thing I knew I had taken a bite out of your chocolate owl. I'm sorry. I don't know what else to say. Please forgive me, your friend, Darnell. PS. He's delicious in case you want to go ahead and eat the rest.
Maybe we should make videos anyway - at least get the accident & mistake-prone crafters point of view out there ;) I'm definitely with you!
(Wonder if I have to edit out the cursing that usually comes with the mistakes?)
I love the starry background - adn that adorable owl!
He sure is a cute little guy...even if he has been stuffing his face with chocolates!

Fabulous starry sky paper for this sweet owl on his twig branch! Super cute layout, Lynn!
I second that about taking photo's! I think a Choc covered Owl sounds yummy.....I love this card- esp for a grad card- and you embossed all of those little stars- WOw! Bet it is brilliant IRL. Loving the way you added the sentiment too!
Awwwww,,, what an adorable owl in the tree and CUTE Card!!!
I love this card Lynn! Darlene makes everything look so easy, doesn't she?! lol I loved her card, but I love yours too. Your owl looks great I think and I'm sure in person it looks even more fabulous. It's hard to get good pictures of projects. I love that you used a real little branch for your owl to sit on, that is very cool and clever. I think this will make the perfect grad card! Hugs!
Fabulous card. Chocolate owl! heheheh. I love watching videos too...then promptly forget what I learned! I have to watch a video every time I want to use my "Bow-Easy"!
love the twig - so creative!!! watch for that on a card in Iowa...as soon as I can trudge through the snow to find one! Love the card love your story!
Oh Lynn, whats not to love! You had me at chocolate :) I do know what you mean about photography being photography, but don't sell yourself short - this is a vision!
Hi Lynn, however much you don't like your chocolatey owl, I love it and think he is highly edible. So cute and eye catching.
Love,
M
Fab card Lynn!! I love the starry dp with that cutie owl. It is a great card for graduation! I know what you mean about photos, but your look great :)
Lynn, that starry background is gorgeous!! I love making my own DP, and this one is fabulous. Your owl is too cute! I've had problems photographing my cards more often than not, so my sympathies on that issue. Adding a real twig is super fun, I think these cards will be a hit!
Fabulous card Lynn, I love the background and that cute owl!!
