White Shoes and Easter

When I was young (many moons ago) my mom would never ever allow us to wear white shoes until Easter Sunday.  That was the day we'd break out the white patent leathers and get all dolled up for Easter.  We also couldn't wear white shoes after Labor Day in September either.  It didn't matter the weather and if it was 108 degrees outside, after Labor Day you did NOT wear white shoes.....or white pants either.  You just had to wait it out until Easter Sunday.

So............that's why this little chick from Jan's Digi Shop is all decked out in white shoes (and besides that, they're easier to color too)!  I saw this image the other day and thought it was just the cutest and knew I had to have it.  There's a couple of images of the chick and it also comes in black and white or colored - plus several sentiments.  I decided to do it in black and white and then colored her in Copics.

I'll enter this in Jan's Digi Shop Challenge - Anything Goes

It's not too early for Easter cards is it?  I guess that's kinda skipping over Valentine's Day right now but I just imagine by next month all the store will start selling decorations for Halloween or Christmas!

Thanks for stopping by.......and keep smiling!

Lynn

This is one adorable image and you've made it into a perfect Easter card with all those great colors.I too am from that generation who had to wait to wear white shoes until Easter and then after Labor day it was taboo! Where does that stuff come from I wonder? LOL Oddly enough, we wear white sneakers all year long now so I guess we just like to break all the rules :)

Such sweetness, Lynn, and a darling set to play with. I especially like your soft pink and aqua color choices, and your Easter Chickie's white patent shoes (I actually had a pair!)
So happy I got to see your creation at Jan’s Digi Stamp Challenges . Thanks for the inspiration, and I hope to see more of your designs soon.

I'm all over this! Same rules about white shoes and pants in my house too but this chick looks adorable in her Easter finery. Also, the expression "all dolled up" was a favorite of my mom's too.

Great card Lynn, I love the cute image. Thanks for sharing the story of the white shoes. I was confused about the white pants as in the UK pants are underwear (knickers). I wondered who knew what colour underwear you were wearing. 🤣 I guess it was white trousers you were not allowed to wear after September. xx

Same here with the Shoes! No white after Labor Day and not until Easter Sunday...I really miss the good ole days. Your card is so sweet, thanks for the support of Jan's Digi Stamps and playing along in our challenge.

Adorable chick. Yes, I remember the rules with the white shoes...I'm glad some those rules don't apply anymore.

What a fabulous image, I love how you have made her the central image and the limited background colour. So beautiful Lynn. I don't remember getting dressed up for Easter, Whitsun Sunday was our best and new shoes, all dressed up in new clothes, as we had to march through the village with the Vicar, Laymen, and Church choir in front. I even had to wear a hat. AH! Those were the days. hahaha.

I remember the rules about wearing white only between Easter and Labor Day and to this day, I change out my purses to white for summer and darker colors for the rest of the year. lol Love the little chick with her white shoes and Easter best! Great coloring. :-D

Delightful fun happy card and image. Not too early for Easter cards, seeing as our local store had Easter eggs for sale on Boxing day! x

Oh boy, I remember well not being allowed to wear white shoes or pants after Labor Day and until Easter! I guess we are dating ourselves on this one, huh Lynn?!! LOL I love this sweet card! That image is just too darling and I can see why you "needed" her. Love the colorful strip of pattern paper you used and of course the pastels too. But that image has stolen my heart as well. Too cute! I'm glad you colored it yourself because I love your coloring. And no, it is not to early for Easter as like you said, the stores will be selling Halloween and Christmas stuff by next month! LOL Hugs, Brenda

Around here they say not to wear white before Memorial Day. Easter makes a lot more sense and sometimes I do anyway just for fun. Your Easter chick is all decked out and it's not too early to start on Easter cards or wearing white shoes. There's Global warming after all!
