Redbird Christmas

With each day that passes it's getting a little closer to Christmas.  I'm trying to kick it up a notch on making cards for the holidays and thought I'd use one of my favorite stamps from Rubber Stampede.

I mounted the image, after coloring with Copics, on burlap paper and then sponged Antique Linen not only around the image but all around the edges of the Vanilla paper.  The patterned paper is from Basic Grey and seam binding ribbon and sentiment from SU.  I also added a snip of twine to the ribbon and went over the pine needles with a clear glitter pen.

The sketch I used for this card is for the challenge at Tuesday Morning Sketches and so I'll enter it in their challenge.

We're heading to the weekend and I hope everyone has a good one.  I'm going to be busy making FIFTY bridal invitations for my sister in law so may not be around much for the next few days. This is NOT my favorite thing to do!!!  I may be a nut case when all is said and done.  Um.....more so than I probably already am!  LOL!  I'll be checking back in as soon as possible.

Thanks for stopping by........

Missing the Mark

I don't know about y'all, but when I sit down to make a card I get all these brilliant ideas in my mind.  They seldom look like those bright ideas I had and then Murphy's Law kicks into gear!  If one thing is going to go wrong, all of it will!  This is one of those cards.

I started off with the Stampendous monkeys and vine.  Got the vine stamped in the circle thingy and then stamped the monkeys.  Cut those out and then tried to place them "on the vine".  Oops!  Missed the mark there a little bit but it's got some of the dimensionals on the back and those things will not come loose for any reason.  That one monkey on the right looks more like he's just making a fist and holding onto thin air!  LOL!  Keep going Lynn.....it will get better!  Added the clouds and sentiment.  Oops once again.  Smudges!  I never know where those things come from and really think they appear just to aggravate me.  Anyway, added the enamel dots to cover those.  There's a little tiny bit of blue in that patterned paper that I was matching with the blue circle........snapped the photo and that blue in the paper has turned purple!  Where was my mind (or light) when I glued that stuff down because it really IS purple!!  Oh well.....it is what it is!

Putt-Putt

Still puttering along here - and with another card for today.  It's a little early for Valentine's Day but always a good day to tell someone you love them.

For the Be Inspired Challenge at the Alley Way Stamps I used the inspiration picture to make my card.  The blue/aqua paper is an old scrap that I had from CTMH.  It's got a little rust looking brown in it - or maybe that's just rust looking from age!   All the stamping on here was done with stamp sets from The Alley Way Stamps.  The little car is from the wonderful Mrs. Rogers Neighbor stamp set - and is just chock full of cute images!  The smoke coming out of the back of the car is from the Ka-Pow set, and the sentiment from the Speak Easy set.  The sentiment and smoke were stamped in Versamark Sepia and then clear embossed.  The scallop edging was completed with a SU punch on Kraft card stock and then the twine added.

Jim would probably tell 'ya this looked exactly like me driving - but instead of smoke coming out the back end, it'd be rubber flying everywhere!

Everyday Happiness

I've been so bad lately and really haven't created anything new.  I need to remedy that pretty quick - if I can even remember how to do it!  Sometimes life just gets in the way of things we love to do.

I created this a couple of weeks ago and since I don't have anything else to put up for "show and tell", I'll thrown this one in.  I used the Summer Afternoon set from SU and colored it in Copics.  The patterned paper is from Doodle Bug.  The ribbon - I have no earthly idea why I added a piece of GREEN ribbon to this!  YIKES!  It's a pretty nice looking green color but doesn't really go with anything else on the card except maybe the grass (what little there is)!  A button, twine, and a little doodling around the tag finished out the card.  The colors on this really do make me happy though.

Thanks for stopping by........and back to the drawing board now!

Get Well Flower

The challenge over at Tuesday Throwdown this week is all about flowers - Handmade Flowers, that is.  We're being sponsored by Flourish with a Bling.  Come on over and enter for your chance to win a wonderful prize package from our sponsor.

I've used a die from MFT to make this flower for my card.  The center was done with an enamel dot and the twine looped behind the flower.  The patterned paper is a scrap that was on my desk and the sentiment from SU.  I did a little splattering with various inks.  Sorry for the poor quality of this photo but for whatever reason it just wasn't coming out the bright white that it is.  The flower did but the rest of the card just refused to cooperate!

Thanks for stopping by..........and be sure and check out the Tuesday Throwdown challenge this week.

Birthdays and Plants

My daughter has a birthday next month and thought this would be a cute card to send her.  She's always saying I spend too much time in the garden!  Little does she know I probably spend more time in the craft room though.  Our gardening season is all over now....all has been canned and put away for the winter.  Can't wait to taste some of those "fresh" veggies in a couple of months.

This is one of the Art Impression stamps from Michael's.  It was just too fun to pass up - and I'm glad I didn't.  I did a little paper piecing and coloring - and fussy cutting.  That's about it but think she'll like the card.

I'll enter this in the challenge at Art Impressions (Birthday).

I'm going to be missing in action for a few days - but will be back Tuesday.  Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Summer Loving

I've been so bad lately and haven't been creating much.  Where ever the mojo went I sure wish it'd get off vacation and come home!  It's pathetic when I go back to the cave and sit there just staring at everything and nothing clicks what-so-ever.  I would say that maybe I just have too much stuff to stare at but surely that couldn't be the case at all.

This is a  little different but thought it came out ok. The stamps are from Paper Smooches.  I added a gold enamel dot, embossed the heart, and added some little die cut hearts.  Very clean and simple.  Anyway, there you have it.

I'll enter this in the challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More (Clean and Simple) and the Spots and Dots challenge at Simon Says Stamp.

Hot Diggety Dog

Well, since we bounced up to 103 degrees yesterday I thought maybe I'd show you a couple of cute little hot dogs!  Right now I can't think of a better way to cool off than to have a water hose squirting me.  Looks like fun.  I guess this means that summer is finally in full swing around here.

This is Dog Days of Summer from Deedee's Digis.  This set comes with several different images either pre-colored or not, sentiments, and digi papers!  Can't beat a deal like that!  Instead of using the pre-colored image I just colored these little pups myself.  Did some embossing, layering of papers, and then added the sun and twine.

Check out Deedee's Digis as we have a progressive challenge going on and you'll really want to play along with the one this month.  If you played last month you've already received your free image this month (and it's a cutie for sure).  If not, you can get the digi of the month right now at a reduced price.  Check it out!

One BIG Fat Cat

Happy Ho, Ho, Ho to everyone this morning!  We had company all weekend and I really don't think I'll ever catch up on everyone's blogs but I'll do my best.  It was a good weekend - but you know how it is when company comes........you're glad to see them get here and glad to see them leave!  LOL!

The other day I placed an order with  Joann's on line and this stamp - that I'd been wanting FOREVER - was on sale!!!!!  Yipee!!!  Make me a happy camper for sure.  So, I ordered it along with a couple of other things and just couldn't wait to get my hands on it.  I'd already planned out the perfect design, sentiment, the works.  The package came in the mail and I ripped it open.....started searching for that cute little 2X2 (approximate) Penny Black stamp!  Nope, not in there.......kept digging and this big mama came out!  WHOA!  That is one BIG stamp!!!  I never even checked the size of the stamp when I ordered, just assumed it was what I wanted.  (Never assume anything Lynn!)  Anyway.......it's big but it's still a cutie!  I didn't add much color except to the hat of course, a little to the holly, and a smidgen of gray to the cat.  Added some Wink of Stella to the hat and that was about it.  Done deal!

Another Christmas card completed!

Life is Good

Beaches, sand, sun, and crabs........life is good!  I'd love to be sitting on a nice sunny beach somewhere watching the crabs and getting sand between my toes. What a nice vacation that would make!   However, it's not going to happen today so I thought I'd just make a card instead.

The images in this set (Life is Good) are from Lawn Fawn.  I colored them with Copics and then sponged in the sky and added a sun die.  Very clean and simple.  Being inspired by the color challenge I have blue/aqua skies, yellow sun and sand, and an orange crab.  Ok, so I've never really seen a totally orange crab before but it is kinda cute in that color.  I think if you can have a blue crab, surely you can have an orange one too!

I'll enter this is the Lawnscaping Challenge (Color Inspiration) and Addicted to Clean and Simple (code word is Sky).

Yummy!

It was my intention to make this little tag and then bake an apple pie to go along with it in the photo!  Humpppph!  I didn't even come close to that!  If I made one, I'd eat it!  Next option was to go get one of those MacDonald fried pies to go with it.  Nope, I'd eat that too.........so.........here's the tag!

Let's Have a Picnic!  That's the theme for our challenge at Tuesday Throwdown this week and we're being sponsored by Meljen's who also provided the images to the Design Team.  Be sure and check out our challenge blog and enter for your chance to win a wonderful prize from Meljen's.

When I saw the image it just looked like it needed to be made into a tag and then placed with a yummy apple pie.  I got the tag made anyway!  The sentiment is an old one from SU and I used some scraps of gingham looking paper.  The sequins....I seem to be overloading you with sequins on my projects lately, but they're breeding in my craft room and I just have too many!  The stitched scallop piece at the top was done with a die from Pretty Pink Posh.

Thanks for stopping by.........and be sure and head over to Tuesday Throwdown and enter our challenge.

Be Yourself

Being a little different - and yes, unique here today!  This is probably how my hair looks every morning when I wake up.......or maybe it's Jim after SEEING my hair in the morning when I wake up!!

Either way, this is a cute little gal with that top knot of yellow feathers.  It's from the Birds of a Feather set by The Alley Way Stamps.  I colored her with Copics and then paper pieced the polka dot strip across her belly to match the sides.  Added the die cut heart and tiny sequin.  Her eyes were covered with Glossy Accents and the rest of the sequins added.  The sentiment, Jibber Jabber, is also from The Alley Way Stamps.

I'll enter in the Be Inspired challenge from TAWS.

Happy 4th

If you're celebrating the 4th of July today, hope you have a great one and a fun weekend to follow!

The image I used is from Deedee's Digi's who just so happens to have a progressive challenge going on right now.  Be sure and check out the cute digi for this month and enter.  Then next month you'll receive a free digi!  Deedee has so many cute images in her shop and you'll love each and every one of them and just keep wanting more.

For a happy note today ....... From now until Sunday July 6th you can get a 25% discount on your order at Deedee's Digi's using the coupon code INDEPENDENCE.

I used a pre-colored image for my card today but the set also comes with the line version so you have a choice of coloring it yourself or not.  It also has some wonderful sentiments too!   I added some digital paper, twine, and some red, white, and blue star brads.  Very CAS but think it gets the message across just fine!

On a VERY sad note now:  Last year I was asked to be on the design team for Digi Haven (which closed a couple of days ago).  We need your help!   Denise, the owner/coordinator of this challenge blog who is such a sweet and wonderful lady has had an extremely serious medical diagnosis with an unfavorable outcome.  If you believe in the power of prayer, Denise and her family need ALL the prayers you can give her right now.  Please pray for this very special lady.

Thanks for stopping by......and head on over to Deedee's Digis to see all the rules of the progressive challenge.

I Colored!

I know this isn't my normal type card  - but I had this image and was determined to color the dang thing!  Got it all colored and thought it looked ok and then had no earthly idea what to do with it!!  It literally sat on my desk for about three days with just me staring at it.  Ok, everyone else just about can do all those cards with the flowers, flourishes, etc. on it - so I can too!  Got busy and had all kinds of stuff on it........UCK!!  Just looked tacky!  So, I started taking off some of the flowers and flourishes and couldn't get it to look any better.  Stared at it for another day and finally decided just to slap it on a piece of patterned paper, add the sentiment and pearls and be done with it.  LOL!  So, there you have it!

I colored the image (from Delicious Doodles) with Copics and then added shine to the butterflies and flowers with the clear Wink of Stella pen.  I even colored in some eye shadow on this gal!  It's not like the "big boys" do at all and I won't be holding any coloring classes for sure - but I'm satisfied with it anyway!   The sentiment is from SU.
