Blue Flowers

Now I realize this may not look like much, but you need to keep in mind that I DO NOT do watercoloring! But then again......I guess I did!  There's also a lot of white space on here - which I do like but it doesn't always like me.   Working with white is like wearing a pair of white pants!  I mean, come on.....you put on a pair of white pants and within 30 minutes they're smudged somewhere.  I usually just hope it's where I can see it and not in the rear end after sitting down in something I shouldn't have!

Anyway......I was scooting through Wally World the other day and found some Canson watercolor paper!  Grabbed the paper and got so excited since they actually had something like that, I paid for it and then high tailed it out of the store - without getting what I originally went in there for.   I sat down to do my thing with the card and of course immediately got a smudge on it.  Uck!  Started over......I used a stamp from Mark's Finest Papers and then colored it using some new Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers.  I'm not real good controlling how much water to use but think this one turned out pretty good with the shading.  I really like the bright colors with those markers.  Finishing it up, I stamped a simple 'thank you' sentiment and added the pearls.

I'll enter this in the Watercolor Blog Hop hosted by Pretty Pink Posh.

Thanks for stopping by.........
Lynn

This is gorgeous Lynn! I agree with you about the white pants and white cards, but I think you're the Queen of white space. You always do it so well. Don't you love those new watercolor markers?

OK, my friend, having had this marvelous coloring success, you're now hooked! :-D I love the blue you chose for the flowers. If I could find some real ones in that color, I'd plant them in my flower garden. Exquisite CAS, Lynn.

You say it may not look like much but your are right that leaving lots of white space is actually really tough, partly from the smudge risk and partly in achieving the right balance of elements...and guess what? You nailed it! I love the pretty shading too :-)

Big hugs, Kat xx

I love your card and your super attitude, girl. I struggle with clean and simple design too. It scares me -- all that white space!!! You did a great job. I can't wait to get my Zig markers. Thanks

that's my problem with white space too...so when it works it's quite the happy dance! Love how this turned out - and I found out recently? There isn't a scrap of wc paper to be had in my town. Or the next town. Gotta drive to the Big City to find some!

Awesome! I had a laugh at your white (ain't it the truth!) and the bit about Wallyworld, and forgetting what you really went in for. Was just browsing the cards I missed, and headed for the most recent, when I read that you had the new Clean Color Real Brush markers. I've been eyeing those, so I'll be interested in a critique. You did a fine job with the w/coloring too, BTW. This is not my strong suit either, but looks like you did just swell. Love the pretty image, and the brilliant wash of color you achieved. I used the Canson for a lot of the mixed media, as it's not so heavy on cards, as is the 140# papers. Good job, Miss L. TFS & Hugs.

This is stunning!
I agree with you - white pants and white cardstock! The white pant debacle is usually my own fault. Why do I think I need a brownie, Frappuccino, or chocolate ice cream while wearing white pants!? And I can NOT - NOT smudge when working on white backgrounds....
Back to the card - it is truly stunning and lovely. Those colors just POP! Love the classic look and simplicity!
Distracted by a "must have" while at WallyWorld - been there done that...
