Saving The Best for Last

I've had these sitting on my computer table for a while and thought I'd go ahead and post all of them at once.  Pretty picture heavy but at least they'll be out of the way now.  Be SURE and scroll down to that last photo - as I saved the best for last!

I was playing with stencils on these first couple of cards.  I used vellum and very seldom do that.  I will say these are much prettier in real life.  Nothing spectacular to say the least though!  The third card is nothing more than paper with the sentiment added and a couple of tiny butterflies.  I had actually started making another card and then ran into this paper so had to stop what I was doing and throw together a very quick birthday card.  Gotta love that paper business!

AND THEN......comes the last one!  The BEST!  Oh what FUN!  They don't get into the yard very often but when they do, Rambo is Johnny on the Spot!  They're very strong so Jim picks them up by their tail (hanging on for dear life) and puts them on the other side of the fence.  Rambo lets us know in a hurry that we need to get these things out of his yard immediately!!

Yep, a true Texas 9-banded armadillo!!!!!  Looks a little like some type of prehistoric animal for sure.  They generally move very slow - but can run fast when needed.  Their shell is leathery like armor - hence their name and some people actually have eaten these things.  NO, not me for SURE!  I'll usually try anything once.....but not that!

Thanks for stopping by..........
Lynn

I rarely use vellum, either, but you created some pretty cards here with yours. And, the birthday card turned out to be gorgeous. Makes one want to quit stamping and just use paper. :-)

Poor Rambo....bet he hates these things being on his territory. Guess where I see these....yep, always run over on the highways.

Armadillo.... Seriously!! I see that on National Geographic :D, you are living right into the close proximity of nature :) I love ur cards, the third one seems to be my favorite

Your cards are wonderful. Really like the stitching on the second one. I've never seen an armadillo alive, much less this close. Can't believe they would just let you pick them up.

Oh did you take the stencil class? I did but haven't had the time to try anything yet. These cards are all very nice. I especially like that third card. Super pretty paper. As for you last picture, if I saw one of those things in my yard, I think I'd have the same feeling that Rambo does. I always knew Rambo was a smart little thing. Enjoy your day.

I beg to differ. The three cards are the high lite. They all are special. The little armored critter is, can't say cute, can't say ugly. Hmm! Well he is interesting and entertaining.SMILE.

You're ahead of me on the homework! Love these little hearts and stars and the vellum tags! You've gotta love paper when it makes itself into a card this pretty! Can't say I'm too keen on the critter in your yard. I think I'd be like Rambo and insist that someone get it out of there!

Ohmygawd! It's a creature! Don't the burrow and cause general mayhem to gardens? And make dogs bark? I would certainly be thrilled to get a picture of one in my yard just 'cuz that's different so kudos to you for having the camera ready. I love your card and #3 is the bestest one of all. So soft and pretty (and non-armadillo-like).

Well it's about time, hee hee!! The first two are just so pretty with the velum and I couldn't pick the colors against the velum. They are so simply elegant. The third one is so beautiful. I know that must be DP, but it looks stamped the way you did your sentiment with it. Wonderful! and the Armadillo is to cute! Yeah, I think he's cute!

Oh wow Lynn, what beautiful and inspiring cards! I love each one but the birthday card is exceptional! Can't say that the armadillo is particularly cute but I'm sure its mother loves him! You go Rambo!

These cards are all so pretty, and I like the vellum accents! I rarely use it myself, but I do like how it looks on cards!
As for the armadillo, when I was in FL some years ago, my friend drove right over one as she didn't see it in the middle of the road (?) but it felt like we ran over a huge boulder! Those things are really protected with a tough outer layer! Sic 'em Rambo! Good dog :)

Yum on all the pretty cards, and I'm liking the vellum and your stitching, very much. You were on a roll, girl. Now that ugly thing at the end...YUCK, and more Yuck. They live in Florida too, and make dreadful holes in the lawn. DD's greyhounds positively hate them, and one must be careful walking in the yard, because one can step in a hole and twist one's ankle. Do you get the idea who One might be? Ugly creatures! Good for Rambo, being on guard duty. TFS & Hugs

Ooo, fantastic vellum cards, Lynn! Your quick and easy card with the birds looks much more complicated than a CAS design. Love the armadillo, too, and am happy to hear that Rambo is on the job protecting the home front. :-D Give him a special pat on the back from me, will you?

These cards are all so pretty Lynn. Isn't wildlife fun, we don't have armadillos too cold, but there is all sorts of interesting animals that stop by.

Three great cards. I love vellum and always love seeing cards that feature it.

The last photo is really something. i have never seen one IRL...they do look so prehistoric...and sort of lumbering... would be cool to see a video of one running as I can hardly picture it...lol

Oh Lynn, I love that critter! He's a cutie!! Your cards are breathtaking!!

All the cards are lovely. What is there about Vellum? I love it so why don't I think to use it more often? Don't think I've ever seen any used that I don't like...poor Vellum. The underdog of the craft room...
That armadillo! What a fascinating looking creature. Wears his very own plate of armor! Very medieval. Great post lady! Thanks for sharing the creature pic. And of course the cards - they are beautiful.

I love it when that kind of crafty serendipity interferes with what I'm doing! All three cards are gorgeous - I love the vellum :)
And I gasped right out loud to see that ugly thing! I just bet Rambo freaks out - heck, Abby sets off with demented barking if there's a bird two yards over!

What coooool vellum cards.
And this creature sure looks prehistoric. He could be from the turtle or dinosaur family, do you reckon?

Great cards Lynn and I quite like the vellum.. gives it a different look. I also like the nature feel to the last one with all those birds, leaves and butterflies.
Speaking of nature.. what a funny little critter the armadillo is. I've never seen a real one but they are kind of fascinating, aren't they? Not sure Rambo would agree though.

Wow!! What a Beautiful collection of cards Lynn! I like the vellum touches too! I have some in my stash, but very rarely use it myself! Never quite sure what to use it with, lol ;-) Goodness no, I'd never eat Armadillo either, lol I've never seen one IRL so that's pretty neat that they visit you now and then! lol Though Rambo would probably be happier if they didn't , lol 8-)

Your cards are beautiful! I really like the sentiments stamped on vellum!
My girls are going crazy over your 'pest'. I have to say that it's cuter than the opossums we occasionally get here!
