Chugging Along

Many years ago my grandfather worked for the railroad.  After he retired he and my grandmother opened up a little Kiddie Land park in Austin, Texas.  We only lived about an hour from there and I can still remember the excitement of going to see my grandparents - um.......probably more so that I was going to be able to ride anything I wanted at the Kiddie Land - and get all the popcorn and soft drinks I wanted for free!!!  I couldn't have been over about 3 or 4 years old, but still remember the HUGE train that went all the way around the park with my granddad as the conductor. It also had a HUGE merry go round and roller coaster!  Of course you gotta remember when you're only 3 or 4 years old, everything looks HUGE!

When I saw this cute little digi (Gingerbread Train) over at Deedee's Digis it immediately brought back a flood of good memories........and besides that, it's as cute as can be!  This is a pre-colored image and with Christmas fast approaching, this made for a quick, easy, and fun card.  I added some Modge Podge Dimensional Magic (thanks to Jessi for telling me about this stuff) to the little puffs of smoke and the top of the train.  It's similar to glossy accents.  I added the little conductor (which is adorable) to the inside and will be sending this card to my brother to bring back some memories for him too.

Check out Deedee's Digis - very nice images.  This is for their progressive challenge - if you enter this month you'll receive a free image next month.  This set came with 2 different images and 3 sentiments - both colored and line.

I'll also enter it in the Pixie's Snippets Workshop (using snippets).

Thanks for stopping by...........
Lynn

Oh, it's wonderful to create a card that has so many memories and I'm sure your brother will love it.

What a fun childhood you must have had with all those rides anytime you wanted. Yes, everything does look huge when you're little. Wish we could keep that magic all our lives.

Your card is adorable. I need to check into that Modge Podge D.M Looks great!

What an outstanding job you did with this darling image. I love that your put the strip of black for the tracks. That Modge Podge Dimensional Magic worked beautiful both on the train and the clouds. When I used this set I knew there was something I wanted to do and forgot, it was to make extra puffs of smoke. That really makes it special and more lifelike. I'm going to add those to my Ditty Box for Alli. Terrific job. Enjoy your day.

This is such an adorable gingerbread train. I've seen it used at several blogs, and each cardmaker has made it look so different. Each just lovely. Enjoyed reading about your train memories..what fun it must have been. Now I don't know about this new product you mentioned, so you're going to have tell us more about that. It sure made your puffy clouds stand out. This is a delightful card. TFS & Hugs.

What a fun gingerbread train!! How remarkable for a child to have grandparents with their very own Kiddie Land! I still remember visiting one on South Main in Houston numerous times about that same time frame. Great memories, Lynn!

This is precious, Lynn! I really like how you used a CAS style, but infused this with so much character. The little black strip for the track and the extra puffs of smoke really bring this to life. Thanks so much for sharing this for our challenge at Deedee's Digis!
