Eyelets Galore

I belong to a group over at SCS called Stamp Addicts and last week we were discussing (and cussing)  things that we have in our stash that we never use and probably need to purge.  One of the things everyone agreed on that could go was eyelets!  We ALL have them - and and never use them.  So, we decided to see what kind of creations we could come up with.

I got this idea in my head and it was just going to be OH SO WONDERFUL!  LOL!  I made my card (the one below) and after finishing it realized that the eyelets weren't evenly spaced - and then to top it off, I stamped "Smile" a little crooked (feature that!).

Ok, back to the drawing board.  I got all the holes marked and started pounding away (Note here....I don't have one of those chomper things so have to use my little tool and hammer!  Jim thought I was adding an addition to my craft room!! LOL).  I decided to do a straight line instead of a curved one on this and I was scooting along so good, getting them fairly lined up right - had four more to go - on a roll here.........and then added that green eyelet to the WRONG SIDE!! I started laughing and just could not quit!  So, I added the other green one on the arrow wrong too and decided that the "Giggle" sentiment was very appropriate.

I'm STILL laughing about these cards but if nothing else though it was a fun way to get rid of some of that blasted eyelets!  LOL

Thanks for stopping by......
Lynn

What generous and happy use of eyelets, Lynn. And the spacing looks perfect in the first one. The second one looks stylish actually with the eyelets inside out.
Am in Singapore for a few days to get some medical tests done. Hopefully and Godwilling all will go well.

Hugs,
Monica
Needless to add that I did some craft shopping to cheer me up.

I must go back and use up all the lovely stuff you sent me... just hoarding it.

I left a comment earlier on this post but it would not go through as WIFI is so darned slow.

Love both your cards, the first one is perfect and the second one is cool. The inside out eyelets look quite designer like. Funny how a mistake makes a nice design.

Love,
Monica

Genius use of eyelets Lynn! I smiled looking at your first card - so cute with the curvy arrow and giggled right along with you on the second card with the two 'specially placed' eyelets! Perfect sentiments on your delightful cards!

I think your cards are cute! Great way to use up all those eyelets. Your post really gave me a big smile this morning. I thought I was the only one that did that. the more I look at it, the more I like the eyelet you added to the wrong side, they flattened out nicely!

Well I think it is an excellent idea and I just might have to CAS your cards. I like how the green ones on the second card look like little stars!

Oh, how fun are these?!!? I LOVE the recovery with the backwards green eyelets. GENIUS!

And I would have EMBRACED the crooked eyelets knowing it was better than anything I could do to get it straight.

Bravo!

I thing both of these are grand. I like the idea they are perfectly spaced and I love the green ones on the second card. I started laughing too. Tammy's right, they do look like little stars.

LOVE THIS!!! Putting your judgments aside... I really think they are fun and kind of funky! I think my favorite is the curvy one. It strikes me as a 'hang in there' kind of card!
You know... I am pretty sure I have about a thousand eyelets stashed away somewhere! I may just have to dig them out!

Aw can you say FUN! Lynn, you did a great job on the challenge! I'm as terrified of eyelets as I am of using glitter, lol .... I think I may have to admit defeat on this one - but will think it over :) Love the fun colors against the stark white - fabby!

I have always loved crooked smiles and your card is no exception! I have to use the old fashioned pound-and-hope-for-the-best tool, too. I love the clever creativity of putting the second green brad in backwards. If you hadn't fessed up, we would all have thought you intended it that way from the beginning. :-D Both cards are fabulous!

I love them both! I think the first one is perfect with the spacing. Only you are picking it out!

LOL on the 2nd with putting it in backwards. I think it jazzes it up a bit!

I don't have the eyelet punch either, so I'm pounding them out when I have to use it. I have SO MANY too! Maybe I'll send them to you :) he he

I love these both, Lynn. They are so fun, and I love the different sentiments you used for each one. Oh, and I love the upside down brads; look like starbursts!

What? We are supposed to USE all of those eyelets in our crafty stashes? Both of your cards are TOO cute and a very creative way to feature those little buggers. I love how colorful and cheery the cards are! :)

OK, so this is just a GREAT way to use up eyelets!!! I think you may win the creativity category!! Actually, punching one of the green ones in the wrong way, then deciding to make it a design element is brilliant!! You should be proud of yourself!

Off to find my eyelets and get busy...

Way to purge! These are both so darn cute! You are right about the eylets - a pain to use, never the right color, temperamental (squish too hard - not enough squish!) I have the crop-o-dial - JUST HAD TO HAVE IT cuz I was going to use SOOOOO many eyelets!!! (not) Great idea to challenge a purge! What else would I purge...let's see....

Bonnie said...

I have one of those Crop-a-diles and I wish I'd kept my old eyelet system. I can never get the danged things where I want them. As far as the smile being crooked, my smile is higher on one side than the other. And the eyelets on the wrong side make it look like flowers that were intended to be placed like that. Those eyelets are a pain!

How fun are these cards! I love both of them- love the sentiments- and if you had not mentioned that star was an upside down eyelet, I would have thought it was meant to be! I think you win for the most eyelets and a very creative way to use them too!
