Baby Boy Card

I haven't made a baby card in a long time, so thought I'd use the Mojo Sketch Week 119 and create a baby boy card. I colored the little bear with my PrismaPencils and used the gamsol magic technique. I'd REALLY like to get some of the Copics but they are just so costly (I may look into that though this coming year).

The stamp is from the SU set Teddy and Train and I used Bashful Blue, Brocade Blue, and white cardstock. The DP is from Flair Designs. I used my Labels 3 Nesties and the Swiss Dots Embossing folder - dimensionals, a crochet flower, satin ribbon and YES, you guessed it - the Bow Easy (again).

Just a Very Quick Post

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! All of my company is now gone - which is good - and bad. We loved seeing everyone but it's also kinda nice when things are back to normal again. We were suppose to have my husbands sister and brother in law come in today and stay until Sunday but they had to cancel the trip.

SO, I'm back to stampin!!!

This is just a quick post showing you some of the acrylic frame note holders and RSVP pens to match that I made for a couple of the nieces and nephews..........I used various paper and stamps. These are so easy to put together and fun to make. The instructions can be found on SCS.

As I said, this is a quick post.....because I'm off to my craft room for a day of stamping!! Whopee!

Paper Craft Planet Sketch Challenge

"...the stockings were hung by the chimney with care, in hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there....." Now I don't know about yall, but I think St. Nicholas needs to hurry up and get here so we can finally get through all the Christmas rush!

This card is for a Paper Craft Planet sketch challenge - go check it out and just leave the tag sk121909 on your photo. The image is from a Close to My Heart set called Sweet Sixteen. She was stamped, colored, paper pieced with some of the background paper, and then popped up on dimensionals on an oval nestabilities. I added a little glitter to the cuffs and star. In the photo, the cuffs and star appear to be blue, but they are actually purple. The purple piece on the bottom was embossed using a SU texturz plate. I added flowers with the brads and the sentiment (also CTMH).

Anyway....back to Christmas......I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas with their family and friends. All of my company will start arriving tomorrow and the last group will be leaving on January 2nd. So, I probably will not be posting again until after that date.

Coming Down to the Wire

We're coming down to the wire on Christmas it seems. It'll be here before you know it. I'm going to try to post at least one more time before then.....we'll see how that goes.

I found the template for these stocking gift card holders over at SCS - you can find it HERE. They are really easy to put together. I actually made nine of them but am only showing the ones I made for my son and daughter in law. You know, when your children get a certain age, it's just really hard to buy a gift you think they'd like so I usually give a gift card instead. ( I also give a small gift and hope they don't rush out the day after Christmas to return it!)

On Amanda's - I used the Snowflake embossing folder on the white. The blue is like a suede type paper that someone had given me. It's so pretty so I don't use it very often (gotta save it as long as I can!)

On David's - The base is Bravo Burgandy and the patterned paper is some I had in my stash and have no idea where it came from.

Out For A Spin

I got this Our Craft Lounge stamp set from i {heart} papers several weeks ago and MADE myself not even look at it until I had finished all my Christmas cards and the Sock Monkeys! Since I finally finished the cards and monkeys I couldn't wait to try this out. I love this stamp set and you will be seeing alot more cards with it soon. The little bicycle has all kinds of accessories with it - like a horn, kick stand, basket of hearts, etc.....just so many possibilities here.

I used several things to color this with - SU markers, Bic markers, and Prisma Pencils. I placed a silver brad in the center of the front wheel and a flower and brad on the handle bars. The little basket of flowers has several different colored rhinestones in it. The image and the sentiment were both popped up on dimensionals and I sponged around the main image. The patterned paper was embossed with the Swiss Dots folder in my Cuddlebug. I attmpted to put either grass or dirt or something under the wheels to make it appear it was "moving", but just could NOT get the look I wanted - so I left it off. The bow was made with - you guessed it - the Bow Easy (also from i {heart} papers).

I'm going to try to post a couple of times this week and then will be gone for a week due to a house full of company coming the day after Christmas.

The Critters

I FINALLY finished making all five of the Sock Monkeys! YES! It was very hard to get a good picture of these little critters as their tails kept getting in the way. Anyway, they are all finished in time for Christmas. I have never been so sick of Sock Monkeys in my life! This started out when one of the granddaughters said she wanted one for Christmas. Then my daughter called and said the other granddaugher wanted one - and then my husband said that his three granddaughters would probably like one too! Yikes! The first one was kinda fun but then after that they just got to be a chore. And you know what - THEY"RE REALLY CREEPY! As I would finish one I sat it on the dresser (because the dog kept wanting to get to them for play time) in the bedroom. Waking up in the morning and seeing these things was just down right SCARY!

But, like I said, I'm through with them and now can get back to stamping. Yeah!

First Christmas Card for 2010

As you know, I finished all of my Christmas cards last weekend and got them mailed. I saw a card similar to this on SCS though and just HAD to try it. I can't give credit to whoever posted it on SCS as I don't remember who it was.

I guess this will be my first Christmas card for 2010! It's never too early to start on next years cards.

There was no stamping on this card. I punched out the little branches with a MS punch and placed them in a circle for the wreath on white CS, matted it on Real Red, added a few red rhinestones to the wreath, and tied the bow with my trusty Bow-Easy to finish it off. I attempted to emboss a "window" for it to be "hanging" in but really don't like how that turned out. (You can't really see it in the picture unless you enlarge it.) I think if I had cut some squares and then sponged the edges it would have looked more like a window.

Anyway..........thanks for stopping by...............

Flutter

I saw this sketch on Mercy Kerin's blog and had to try it. She had three like brads/buttons/or "something" on the sketch, but three of these brads on my card were just a little too much so I used two of them instead. I embossed the white background with the Swirls embossing folder and then used Night of Navy cardstock and DP. I stamped the Inkadinkado little bird in Night of Navy, sponged around the white and paper pierced, matted and then popped it up on dimensionals. I topped it off with the organza ribbon on the side and tied the bow with my Bow-Easy from i {heart} papers. I thought about adding some bling to the little flowers behind the bird but, there again, it just seemed like too much for the card.

It was nice to take a small break from something Christmas-y right now. I'm in the process of making FIVE Sock Monkeys for gifts, so it will be a couple of days (probably Monday) before I post again - if I'm not swinging from jungle vines by then!!!

The Floating Elf

Now, I'm calling this the Floating Elf because he just looks like he's floating in the ornament - or maybe just standing on a pile of snow - waiting for Christmas Eve! Isn't he just the cutest!

Last month, on Loretta's blog she posted some of these little darlings, with instructions and even a video. She provided all the ingredients to make two of them for me. I received my goodies yesterday and made one this morning. She did ALL the work (and I mean, ALL) for me though, as all I really had to do was add the "snow" and get the little guy in the ornament. - which was a snap. All I had to supply was the ornament. My ornaments were kinda iridescent and so this didn't take a good picture. I think the clear ornaments would be better - as far as photography goes anyway. Check out her blog here to get all the instructions plus a video. PLUS, she's offering Blog Candy right now. She has an awesome blog, so pop over and take a look!

A JTL Card

On Saturday, I had finished ALL of my Christmas cards - except for TWO! I REALLY needed a break from making Christmas cards but I wanted to get them all in the mail by Sunday.
SO.............I was in Hobby Lobby last week and saw some patterned Christmas paper I really needed (not really, but that sounded good, didn't it). Anyway, I bought a couple of sheets and got it home and decided I didn't like it. I left it out of my work table and the more I looked at it the more I liked it! By Saturday, I was IN LOVE with it.

Instead of a CAS (clean and simple) card, I made a JTL (JUST TOO LAZY) card! I'm calling it that because all I did was take a burgandy card, add the patterned paper to it, stamped and matted the sentiment, and added ribbon. I actually think it came out very nice...... After making my card I was checking one of the blogs I follow and found a card similiar to it (same paper) over at Susan's Day Off Creations. She did a wonderful job on the card she made with the same paper.

The bottom line though is that I did finish all the cards and they were mailed yesterday as planned! Whoopee!!!!!!! Now I get to start on some stocking stuffers - and Sock Monkeys (FIVE of the little critters)!

Cardinal Christmas

I made this for Mercy's Sketch Challenge. There are some awesome cards on this site. Be sure and check it out.

This was completed about midnight last night. I couldn't sleep - and when you can't sleep, what do you do? STAMP, of course! It's getting down to the wire with me now on completing my Christmas cards but I wanted to make a special one for a lady that bought some cards from me this summer to sell in her baby shop. I think it came out ok, but (as usual) I would have changed a couple of things (if I hadn't been doing it at midnight).

All you need (well, almost) to complete the card is a bottle of Black Pepper and a can of Lysol!!!!

I matted Real Red on black after running it through the Swiss Dots embossing folder in my Cuddlebug. I also ran part of the Real Red piece at the bottom through the same folder. The patterned paper is Real Red DP. The image of the cardinal is from Rubber Stampede and was colored and blended with Prismapencils and I then added some glitter to the branches. I punched out the snowflake with a MS punch and placed a button in the center, tied a piece of white floss in the holes and attached it with a glue dot. I cut the red scalloped circle with my Nestabilities but the white circles became a challenge. I didn't have anything that would make this size circle.... SO....The white circle that the image is stamped on was traced using the top of a black pepper bottle and the larger white circle was made using the top from a can of Lysol!!!!!! Each layer of this was popped up on dimensionals.

Happy Harley-Days

I have about fifteen more Christmas cards to make! Yikes! I need to get them done no later than this weekend - which is scary - so I can get them mailed. I WILL do it though. I made three of these "Harley" cards (for two nephews and a couple that "ride"). Thought they came out pretty cute but seem to just need "something" and I'm not really worrying about what they need since I have to get all my cards done! I think I will make a promise to myself that starting in January I will make at least three Christmas cards a month. That way I'll have them all completed in time!!!!!!!

This layout is from an old SCS card sketch. I used Real Red and Silver and some unknown patterned paper. I stamped the Stampabilities Snoopy and Sidekick in Momento and colored it with Bic markers. I then cut it out, added Liquid Glass to the helmet and windshield and popped it up on dimensionals. After looking at it I thought it needed more of a Christmas-sy look so I stamped a Santa hat from a Christmas stamp and added it to Woodstocks head. It's a little large for his head, but I thought it was kinda cute. Of course I had to add a bit of glitter to the hat.
