The Story of a Card
I received my May card kit from Simon Says Stamp the other day and oohed and aahed over all the goodies in it. Not that I could do anything half way decent with them, but they sure are pretty and fun to look at anyway. This stamp set with roses, sentiment, and chipboard heart were in the box so thought I'd give it a go. I should have just kept it in the box and oohed and aahed over it I think. BUT, I had to at least try something. These red roses started out so pretty and PINK - shaded just right and all that.......and then my Copic ran out of ink! Grrrrrr....of course I don't have the refill (yet)! So the pretty pink roses became red with the shading being pretty crappy all the way around. Then I had this brilliant design in my mind - it should have stayed in my mind because it sure didn't come out looking so fantastic on paper. Ok, I started adding the roses - um......not enough of them - too many of them - too many leaves - not enough leaves...............Another BIG grrrr........... finally just said the heck with it and here it is!
On a happier note - Jim was outside as I was snapping a picture of this and said "WOW, that's pretty"!!!
(Now you just gotta remember he's the one that thought a cow was a pig on another card I did!!!) What more can I say!!!!!
I'll enter this in the challenge at There She Goes (April Showers, May Flowers).
Thanks for stopping by.......and if you get a chance, pop on over tomorrow as I have fun sign for your pleasure!

Holly Jolly Christmas
I keep telling myself I NEED to get busy and start making Christmas cards! I get one or two done - and then don't even think about it until about 2 months later. This is NOT going to work if I want to get them done before the holidays. So I sat down this weekend and MADE myself do one. Not a lot involved here other than a nice image (SU), coloring, and embossing. I had to add the gingham bow to give it a little of the country flavor. Nothing fancy by any means, but another Christmas card is completed.
I found a new blog that's going to get me motivated to make more cards for Christmas now. I know there are several challenge blogs out there for Christmas but I wanted to try the Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge. This week they're looking for cards for the holidays using ribbon and embossing so I'll enter this in their challenge.

Springtime Gardening
Time for Ma and Pa to do a little springtime gardening! Actually, Ma and Pa are going to have to handle it this year as Jim and I won't have one......first time in 16 years!!!! The part of Texas we live in is suffering from a severe drought so we decided not to plant our usual huge garden. We love digging in he dirt, but with no rain it's kinda hard to grow much. I'm personally going to like taking a break from all that hard work of canning everything under the sun! So, Jim is just going to have to stand around with his garden rake and I'll make pies (yeah, right!!!).
The image is from Riley and Company and I love those little moose. The blue DP is from SU and the orange pinstripe is digital paper from Pink Petticoat! Thanks to that wonderful enabler Tammy for telling me about Pink Petticoat digi papers!
I'll enter this in the challenge at Riley and Co. (Spring theme) and Simon Says Stamp Challenge (anything goes).

Happy Bug Day - Seize the Birthday
Be warned - this is a VERY BRIGHT card! I went a little crazy on the brightness of this one - but figured it'd be just perfect for a young boy!
The Seize the Birthday challenge begins today so come on over and play along with us. We're using the same sketch as last week and again sponsored by SK Digis - who provided the images for the DT this week. We need to see your masculine birthday cards this week.
Cute little caterpillar isn't he! He just kinda jumps out at you and makes you think of all the creepy, crawly things in life!! I used some SU papers and embossed the top in bright blue.
This will be my last post for Seize the Birthday challenges. Special thanks to Lesley and this wonderful opportunity and to the fantastic DT for so much inspiration. Thank you so much.

More Flower Power
Remember I told you I had been making some very CAS cards lately! Here's another one! I used some spring time looking pink and green polka dots. Y'all know I don't "do" flowers - so this is about the extent of my flower power - and the extent of this post!
I'll enter this in the challenge at Just Us Girls (color challenge).
Not very chatty today for whatever reason - Jim would probably tell you different though! Oh well.....I'm sure I'll make up for it on here soon enough!

Sympathy
It seems the older I get the more sympathy cards I need. Guess that's just a fact of life.
The challenge at Addicted to CAS has the code word "Flower" so I'll enter this in their challenge.
I used the Love and Sympathy set from SU. The background was stamped in Soft Suede and the image was stamped using markers. I added a piece of organza ribbon to finish it off.

Motorcycles and Measles
I would say this is probably the ultimate clean and simple card - however, I've really been in a major slump lately so you're probably going to be seeing several CAS cards soon.
Ok, on to the title of this.......as you can see, we have a motorcycle here. I'm not a fan of these things at all but they're probably no more dangerous than a vehicle. I've only ridden a motorcycle one time in my life. I think I did it because I was trying to impress the guy I was riding behind - showing him I wasn't afraid of anything! He was a hottie too - that helped matters a lot!! Now, on to the measles........That's what I'm calling the background behind the image. It's very speckled and reminds me of a major case of measles. Maybe I should have stamped it in red! Um....I'll have to come up with a different design for it and do that. I found this stamp among my "stuff" and have no idea where it came from. I have no doubt that my design paper breeds in my craft room, but now the stamps are starting to breed too! SCARY!!!
Anyway, the image is from Hero Arts and sentiment from MFP.
I'll enter this in the Simon Says Stamps Challenge (travel or cityscapes).
Thanks for stopping by........and have a wonderful weekend!

Bright Butterfly - Seize the Birthday
It's that time again!!!! Seize the Birthday starts a new challenge today with a brand new sketch. This time we need to see your feminine birthday cards. We're being sponsored by SK Digis who so graciously provided images for the DT to use.
Is this a bright yellow butterfly or what! Yep, I went with yellow on this card (which I seldom do). The polka dot paper is from SU and the stripe is from wherever. I printed out the butterfly twice to give it some dimension. The lace trim is from Really Reasonable Ribbon.
How about the sketch this week! There's so many different ways you can use this one.
Thanks for stopping by.........and be sure and check out Seize the Birthday and play along.

Chickie Little
Just a fun card using one of the Paper Smooches stamps......and yes, this IS a chickie - not a pig, cow, duck, rabbit, or anything in between! LOL! I'm actually pretty proud of myself on this CAS card since I mixed THREE different patterned papers!!!! WooHoo! I do ok with one piece of patterned paper, somewhat ok with two....but three is unheard of from me!
I'll enter this is the sketch challenge at Sketch Saturday.

April Showers
Everyone else may be having April showers, but not down here in this part of Texas. I've never even owned a pair of rain boots in my life - no need! When it does rain a lot (on occasion) I just slap on my cowboy boots. If they get wet it's really not a problem since they'll kinda mold to your feet (not mold ON your feet though).
If I ever did have to buy rain boots I'd probably want them to be least be as cute as these from SU. I added some Glossy Accents to them so they look a little motley looking in the photo due to glare. I believe the paper I used is also from SU. Oh, and by the way.....I used the same sketch as we're using this week in the Seize the Birthday challenge. You still have time to play along but remember we want to see your masculine birthday cards this go-round.
I'll enter this in the inspiration challenge at PinSpriational Challenges (inspiration photo).

Sailing - Seize the Birthday
We have another Seize the Birthday challenge for you beginning today and need to see your masculine cards. We're using the same sketch as last week and are sponsored by Paper Pretties.
I used the SU set called The Open Seas on this card for a guy with Very Vanilla and some unknown blue patterned paper. I also embossed the background with a SU die. A little twine was added and even did some paper piercing. No fancy-schmancy here since it's for a guy......not that I ever do a fancy-schmancy card anyway!
I'll enter this in the following Birthday challenges - Ruby's Rainbow, City Crafter, Pinspirational, and Gingerloft.
Thanks for stopping by.........and be sure and check out the Seize the Birthday challenge!

This is Not a Pig!
Nothing fancy here by any means what-so-ever, BUT I did get a card made yesterday! Pretty proud of myself just for sitting down and doing one. It doesn't come without a "story" though!!!
This is such a CAS card and there's just no way to mess it up - yea, right!!!! First of all, I got the entire card completed, took a pic, and was putting it on the blog and something just wasn't right with it! I had stamped a DOG with "sMOOches" on it!! So I re-stamped it with the cow and added "sMOOches" under it. Not a problem at all!! It just looked so plain but since I consider it a Holstein cow it had to be black and white! But plain looking it was - so I colored it's nose pink. Now of course Jim just has to add his two cents worth and looked at it and wanted to know why I had "sMOOches" with a picture of a PIG!!!!!!!! This is NOT a pig - and yes, a Holstein cow does have a pink nose!!!! (Note to self - don't ever let the hubs see my cards again! LOL!)
The "Love Ya!" sentiment is from CTMH and the image and "sMOOches" sentiment from Paper Smooches. The little hearts at the bottom are from There She Goes. I also tied a tiny bow from floss and put it in her hair.
I used a sketch from Just Us Girls and will enter it in their challenge. LOVE this sketch and know I'll be using it over and over again.
Thanks for stopping by............and again, this is NOT a pig!!

Pot of Pansies - Seize the Birthday
We have another challenge beginning today at Seize the Birthday and would love for you to come along and play. We need to see your feminine cards this time - and of course, it needs to be for a birthday. We also have a brand new sketch for you to work with. We're being sponsored by Paper Sweeties this week! Be sure and check out the blog for all the details and see the inspiration from the DT.
Purple!!! Yikes, I never use this color on a card and don't know what possessed me to do it now other than the fact that when I think of purple, I think pansies! The stamp is from Hero Arts and I colored it with Copics and Prisma pencils. The sentiment is from SU - as is the background DP. I also added a tiny white butterfly.
Pansy season around here is actually over with - getting too hot now - but I still have a couple of pots of them struggling along. It won't be too much longer though and I'll have to replace them with something else.
I'll enter this in the challenge at Simon Says Stamp (birthday!)

No Rain and Rambo
It's been a while since I've posted a card and almost forgot how to do it! Yikes!!! I finally sat down yesterday afternoon though and was determined I'd slap something up here.
Ok, I started out with the image, figured out what design I was going to use, and picked out some paper.....NO problem.......I was scooting along pretty good with the whole thing and then GLUE got involved!!! Not good! I hate glue with a passion! I was attempting to paper piece the boots and umbrella - glue went everywhere - tried to pull it up - made a bigger mess...........and had to start all over! So, this super simple card turned into an all day affair!! I did get some yellow polka dot paper pieced on the umbrella and boots though!
I used this same sentiment recently - but if you live in Texas and happen to see a couple of drops of rain you'll have complete happiness!!! I'd be so excited I'd probably want to strip off all my clothes and go running through the rain! LOL! Not going to happen with this old lady though!
While I was outside getting a picture of my card, Rambo happened to stand half way still so thought I'd let you see how handsome he is (and also see the dead grass)! Don't you just love that nasty bone he's got!!
Thanks for stopping by................
