A Very Special Thanks!

A very special "thank you" to i {heart} papers. Being a guest designer for the month of November was such a memorable experience for me. Thank you for all the wonderful comments as I appreciated them so much.

When I entered the Birthday Bash at i {heart} papers last month I had no idea I could actually win. What a pleasant shock that was. Other than the daily challenges I think my biggest hurdle was creating a blog. So "thank you" for giving me the courage to create this blog.

In Texas we have a saying - "Well, bless your heart". Now this is used for alot of different occasions........if someone is ill, if someone "does good", if sympathy is needed - just to name a few. It's also used to give a great big "Thank You". So, i {heart} papers, BLESS YOUR HEART!

The idea for this card came from a very old PaperCrafts magazine. The cardstock I used from CTMH has a white core so it makes it nice when "tearing" paper. The sentiment is also from CTMH. The scalloped square and scalloped tag are from i {heart} papers. Other supplies are paper flowers, brads, and ribbon. I sponged around the scalloped tag and kinda "tucked" it in the little pocket created by the paper tearing.

Happy Thanksgiving

This was one of the cards I sent out for Thanksgiving. Very simple. I used the Scallop Edge Medallion technique found on the SCS Resource page. Supplies used were the scallop edge punch, leaf brad, twine, and A Tree For All Seasons from SU. Papers used were chocolate chip, dusty durango, apricot appeal, white, and an unknown brand of patterned paper I had in my stash.

For My Cupcake!

My husband has a birthday next month and I thought this would make a cute card to show my love. Every time I look at it though it reminds me of Valentine's Day. Maybe I can re-work it a bit and use it as a Valentines card too!

I haven't sewn on a card in a while but I like doing it and like the look of it. I don't know why I haven't done this more - I would say that maybe I'm just too lazy to drag out the sewing machine, etc......however, the sewing machine is already out! SO, I really have no excuse.

The patterned paper I used is called Love you Much from SU. Lots of possibilities with this paper. The stamp set is Hero Arts Cupcakes from i {heart} papers. There are six different cupcakes in the set - different sizes. Plus, it has all the "accessories", like a candle, cherry, flower, and sentiments. Very cute set. The "frame" around the cupcake was made using my scalloped square Nestibilities from i {heart} papers - and - don't tell anyone but I used the Bow-Easy (yes, I know, AGAIN). I stamped the cupcake, cut it out, paper pieced the holder and the heart, "glittered" the icing, and then popped it up on dimensionals.

Be Merry - Christmas

Well, I finally got another Christmas card made today. I think I'm going to need to make about five a day to have them all done before Christmas! That's a pretty scary thought!

I used black, white, real red, kraft, and kraft patterned paper to complete this card. The image is from a Martha Stewart set and the sentiment is Warm Words from SU. The accessories I used were black mini brads, corner punch, stickles, oval punch, scalloped oval punch, ribbon - AND, last but not least, the ole trusty Bow Easy from i {heart} papers! I'm telling ya, if you don't already have the Bow-Easy, you NEED to get one. It's just so much easier to make a bow using that little tool.

Get Well Soon, Sadie

This is for my youngest granddaughter, Sadie, who will be getting her tonsils out tomorrow morning. She's only 3 years old and probably won't understand the "pun", but thought she would at least enjoy the image of the whale (I really think she's going to like the little gift I enclosed more than she'll like the card)!

I wasn't very pleased with the way the photo turned out - colors, shadows, etc. - but I like the layout and image. For some reason it just looks better "in person"!

The stamp is from SU's Pun Fun and the paper is Pretty in Pink, Gray Flannel and Studio Arts patterned paper. The Nestibilities scalloped square and the light pink grosgrain/white stripe ribbon are from my "goodies" that I got from i {heart} papers. I keep trying to save my ribbon I got as it's so pretty - but then I keep wanting to use it too! I guess that just means I need to order some!!!

i {heart} papers Sketch Challenge

If you pop over to the i {heart} paper web site, you will find a DT sketch challenge on their blog. I thought I'd try this sketch as it looked simple enough. Oh my goodness, was I ever wrong! This was very tough for me. I think I created three cards before I ever got one I liked. Now I know mine cannot compare to the DT members but thought I'd post it anyway.

Every time I looked at this sketch and saw the triangles, all I saw were Christmas trees (maybe it's because I know I'm going to have to drag out all the Christmas decorations pretty soon - sometimes that turns into a chore and yet I dearly love that time of the year)!! Anyway, my first card had cupcakes on it. I thought it was just "ok" and I may post that one at a later date. My second was Christmas-sy, but was just blah! This is my third attempt.

The sentiment is from a Martha Stewart stamp set I got at the after Christmas sales last year at Wal-Mart. I think I paid all of $2.00 for the whole set. The paper I used was SU Real Red, white and Real Red DP. The "star" on the top of the "trees" are rhinestones from CTMH. I punched out a snowflake with a very small punch I had and added a red rhinestone. The white background was embossed with the Snowflake folder and my Cuddlebug.

Is This My Dog?

I just have to tell ya....this looks like my dog! The only difference is that mine is a red dachshund. BUT, it can dig a whole lot faster than anything I've ever seen. The only good thing is that he hasn't dug up any of my flowers - YET! I really think we need to hire him out as a post hole digger!

Back to the card....This actually came together very quick. I really like the stamp set. It's from Our Craft Lounge (Pat the Bad Dog) and I got it as one of my "goodies" for being a Guest Designer for the month of November for i {heart} papers.

The paper is Pretty in Pink, White, and Black. The patterned paper is from The Robins Nest. The ribbon - isn't that the prettiest you have ever seen!!!!! It is also from i {heart} papers - pink/gray/black/sheer strip ribbon. And, of course, I tied the bow with the help of the Bow-Easy that I got from i {heart} papers.

I stamped "Never too buried" in Pretty in Pink, punched it out using the oval punches and then popped it up on dimensionals.

I tried several times to get a good picture of the inside of the card and just finally gave up. They all turned out too blurry, etc. But, on the inside I stamped "to wish you a dog gone happy birthday". The stamp set also has like a border stamp of the dirt, flowers, bone, etc. I stamped that on the bottom of the card on the inside.

Turkey In The Straw

Our Thanksgiving Day meal is a VERY informal affair. We have an extremely small house and usually have about 25 people for dinner (needless to say, we always hope for pretty weather so they can kinda filter in and out of the house). It's pretty chaotic to say least with everyone crowding into the kitchen, the TV blaring with football games, children running every which way, and my husband frying the turkey and trying not to cause a BIG fire ( I say that because we actually did have a pretty good "fire incident" several years ago with the turkey and the fryer)!

It's worth it though, as there is nothing better than a turkey that has been fried.

As I said this is a very informal gathering for my family and friends so I thought I'd make some place cards that reflected the informality of it all. I was only able to take a picture of two of these because when I tried to get all of them in the same photo, it was just too small.

The stamp is from Inkadinkado, colored in markers and framed with circle nestabilities. I then tied a "handful" of hay together, folded a small portion of the stamped image at the bottom and attached it with glue dots.

Fall Note Card

I send a note card about once a month to a very dear friend - a lady who is 85 years old. She enjoys receiving mail and I always try to keep her informed on what is going on in my life. I make ALOT of note cards so I'll always have one on hand to send her.
Since it's starting to look a little like fall down here in Texas, (although it's about 82 degrees right now) I thought she would enjoy this card.

I stamped the leaves, cut them out, and then popped them up on dimensionals. A piece of twill ribbon was tied at the top with a leaf brad in the center. The sentiment is from Hero Arts Everyday Sayings that I got from i {heart} papers. This stamp set has so many sayings that we use daily! The sentiment was punched out with the Modern Label Punch and then attached with olive brads.

Get Well Card

Have you ever noticed that when you need a Get Well card, you never have one! Ususally by the time I've heard that someone could use a little "pick me up", and then get a card made, they are already well. So, I've decided to make up several so I'll have them on hand when I need one.

The stamp I used is Thoughts and Prayers from SU. I colored the main image with makers and then stamped it on vanilla paper, framed in Regal Rose and Chocolate Chip. The background patterned paper is from Basic Grey (Porcelain) that I received from i {heart} papers. The paper is in a paper pad and all the designs in it are gorgeous!!! I punched out a "lacy" border and added it under the image. The bow was made using my Bow-Easy - also from i {heart} papers. This is little tool makes bows a snap!

Too Early for Christmas?

Ok, we're through with Halloween......and on the way to Thanksgiving. Then why am I showing a Christmas card??? Well, I always say - you just have to start early of this type of thing! I have alot of Christmas cards to make, so thought I'd get an early start. Actually, I should have started about 2 months ago..........

On this card, I used white and silver cardstock. I ran a piece of the white through the Cuddlebug using the snow flake embossing folder. Stamped the Christmas tree in Versamark and then heat embossed with silver embossing powder. Popped up the tree after framing in silver cardstock and added some red rhinestones. I used a little silver cording in the fold of the card, tied a bow, and - it's done!

You Make Me SMILE!

This card started out with an entirely different layout. I just kept moving things around and finally got it like I wanted it. STILL not really satisified with it, but guess it'll do for now! It just seems kind of "plain".

The paper I used was red textured cardstock, kraft, white and an unknown DP that a dear friend gave to me (thanks again, Kristin). The stamp was one of my "goodies" received from
I {heart} Papers: Pat the Bad Dog, by Our Craft Lounge. The "frame" was cut and embossed using scalloped square Nestibilities (also from I {heart} Papers). If you haven't already done so, check out their web site - they have some of the Nestibilities on SALE right now - plus alot of other items! The sentiment, Lots of Thoughts from SU, was stamped in Real Red and then a "bone" brad was placed at the top. The dog was colored using Bic Markers.

The smile on the dog really says it all......... my thanks to I {heart} Papers.

Happy Fall Yall

I went to see my grand children on Thursday last week and just got back into town so I haven't had time to sit down and use any of the "goodies" I got from I {heart} Papers. BUT, I wanted to post something on my blog today. This is a card I created a couple of weeks ago. Fall is finally starting to arrive - it's getting a little cooler (thank goodness) and the leaves are starting to fall.

For this pumpkin card I used the stamp Big Pumpkin from Hero Arts. The paper is SU Really Rust and Wild Wasabi. The DP is from a package of "fall"paper I purchased at Wal-Mart last year. The pumpkin was colored with PrismaPencils and then I used the gamsol magic technique on it.

I'm hoping I can get "caught up" on cleaning, etc. by tomorrow and then I will be able to stamp!
