More Flowers

Ever since I saw this Power Poppy digital image, I've wanted it.  I finally broke down and got it the other day because in my mind I could color this just as pretty or even prettier than I'd seen others do.  In my mind........  As you can see I'm still a work in progress on the coloring.   I feel like I need to make the darker colors darker and the lighter colors, lighter.   I have a hard time with all that shading stuff.   I still like it but will keep on practicing.

The sentiment is from Hero Arts and then I added some crystals from Studio Katia.  The paper is unknown and extremely old.

Thanks for stopping by.............and have a great weekend.

It's All About Christmas

I just saw on Facebook yesterday that there were 31 more weeks until Christmas!  Pretty scary thought isn't it!  It's going to be here before you know it so it's time to kick it up on making Christmas cards.

This one was very simple using a few dies and some patterned paper.   Not a bit of stamping at all!  It was actually done for some challenge the other day and then I never got it entered.    It's also a terrible picture of the card.  I probably snapped 25 photos of it and they were all wonky somehow.  Oh well.....

It really IS all about Christmas when you look out on my porch too.  I bought this poinsettia in November and yes, it's still blooming and going strong.  With the 100plus degree temps we're having right now though I know it's not going to last too much longer.  It's still looking pretty healthy - right?

I'd like to enter my card in the Rudolph's Day Challenge.

Leopard in the Wild

The entire time I was using this stencil from Newton's Nook for the background on this card, I was thinking of that song The Lion Sleeps Tonight.  Maybe you have to have a few years on you before you remember it, but it really is an oldie but goodie.  Anyway............

Instead of a lion, we have a leopard hiding among the leaves - and sky too.  The leopard and sentiment are from My Favorite Things - also with the die to frame it out with.  Dimensional tape was used to pop up some of the image and also the sentiment.

Following the sketch challenge at My Favorite Things this week, I'll enter it in their challenge.

Ribbit

I've never made a get well card specifically for a guy - so here's a first.  The frog and bugs are part of a set from Technique Tuesday.  Cute stamp set!  The sentiment is from Sunny Studio (that also had frogs on it).   Why am I getting all hung up on frogs lately!!!  Scary!  Anyway..........like I said, this will be going to a guy and I'm sure it'll put a smile on his face.  May not make him feel better but well, you know.......

I followed the sketch at Tuesday Morning Sketches so will enter this there.

Not a Critter

Believe it or not, this isn't a critter card.  Amazing, isn't it!  It's a quick flower card instead - but that's really a joke since it wasn't done quick because it takes me forever to finish a card no matter how simple it is.

Anyway, I used an older stamp from Stampin' Up called Flores Suaves.  Behind the flowers is stamped handwriting that also is in the set.  I off-stamped that in Kraft for a light look behind the flower.  The rose was stamped to once again attempt the no-line coloring using Polychromo pencils.   I'm still a work in progress on the colored pencils.  The double "Thanks" die is from Simon Says Stamp.

Life is Good

Life really is good - at least most of the time.

This little guy is taking life easy.  I'd love to be wherever he is taking it easy too.  Maybe sipping on a margarita instead of attempting the ice cream though.  I couldn't even enjoy that ice cream here right now though because it's so hot it'd melt before I could take a bite.

Anyway, the penguin and palm tree are from Penguins in Paradise (My Favorite Things).   The sentiment is from Lawn Fawn.   I used some distress inks to make the clouds, paper pieced the swimming trunks, created "sand" with some designer paper, and added some clear crystals.

This card followed the sketch challenge at My Favorite Things so I'll enter it there.

Family Photos

This will be Rambo's card to Jim for Father's Day coming up next month.  Rambo thinks pretty highly of himself and can't think of a better gift to give him.

This card is really nothing more than bits and pieces I had sitting on top of my desk before cleaning it up.  That's a piece of a Lawn Fawn window die - and no idea why I cut this part off other than I probably had some brilliant idea that didn't work.  It's on Kraft paper - that doesn't look like Kraft at all in the photo.  Looks too gray or something......Of course that could be because of the light reflecting off my hair too.

The profile in the bottom window shows off his beauty in case everyone wants to ooh and ahh over him  -  and he really DOES expect everyone to ooh and ahh.    The top window shows how sweet he can be - at times.......... and then of course you have the fun image poking out from behind the frame showing his humorous side.

Lots of snippets on here so I'll enter this in the challenge (326) at Pixie's Crafty Workshop.

Thanks for stopping by..............and remember to Smile!

Birthday Balloons

If you'll notice, the blue balloon doesn't have a string attached.  I'm sorry but it just looked weird to have a piece of string sticking out at the bottom beside the orange balloon.  So, what we're going to do is pretend the string came off that one and the balloon is starting to float up to the ceiling.  Yes!

I used two products from My Favorite Things - a balloon stencil and also that Happy Birthday die.  The background paper is from Lawn Fawn the the clear crystals are from Studio Katia.

I'd like to enter this in the sketch challenge at My Favorite Things.

Back When

It's time for me to start getting some masculine type cards going for the year. Most of the guys birthday's aren't until later in the year but I figure there's no time like the present to start on them.

More than likely this one will be going to my son.  I'm always kidding him about getting old.....gosh, he's going to be a whopping 43 this year!  Doesn't seem possible since I'm not that old!
On the inside I thought I'd write a note about how this reminded me of his first bicycle!

Anyway, I used a cycle die from Memory Box and a sentiment from a very old Close to My Heart set of stamps.  The sketch is from Freshly Made Sketches and I'll enter this in their challenge.

Two Buds in a Basket

Sorta like two peas in a pod, we have two buds in a basket!  This will be going to a friend of mine who is really more like a sister to me.   We claim each other as sisters anyway since neither one of us have one.

The image and sentiment are from the Furever Friends set of stamps at My Favorite Things and the die and patterned paper are also from My Favorite Things.    I colored the image with Copics using a gel pen to make the polka dots on the basket and then popped up both the image and the sentiment. The small cut out heart is from Simon Says Stamp.

I'll enter this in the My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge and also at 2 Crafty Critter Crazies challenge.
