Mercy's Sketch Challenge 58

I really enjoy using the Upsy Daisy set from SU and it makes anything from birthday to get well cards. Just so many uses for it. This is a get well card to add to my stash as I'm always needing one and never have one when I need it! The layout I used is from Mercy's Sketch Challenge this week.

As I said, I used the Upsy Daisy set and also Teeny Tiny Wishes. The paper is Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip, and White. The patterened paper is Parisian Breeze. What am I going to do when I run out of Baja Breeze paper! I love that color.....Anyway, I also used some oval punches and the Scallop Trim Border punch. The ribbon matches the Baja Breeze paper perfect - and I don't have any idea where I got it!

Am I Crafty - or What!

Last week I was looking through some blogs and on Chic n Scratch I saw where Angie had done a rag quilt purse. I'd been wanting to do one of these and so after finding her youtube tutorial, decided to try it. I mean, hey, if someone else can do it, so can I - right! Well, not always..... Anyway, she used her Big Shot and the Scalloped Square die from SU. I don't have either one of these.....so decided to just cut the squares myself and try it. I'm thinking I really like how it came out! Does this mean I need the Big Shot and die? I don't know about that yet. I know it would go alot faster using them as it did take me awhile to cut the squares. These will make some really cute Christmas presents.......maybe I'd better start now though to get them finished by Christmas!
Do you like how I had to hang it on the refrigerator to get a picture of it! I just didn't have a lot of places I could hang it and get a good picture at the same time.

Oh, also, before I forget, there is some wonderful BLOG CANDY at Shelly and Kellie's blogs. Check them out.

Sweet Blog Friend Award

I received this fabulous award from Shelly yesterday! Thanks so much!

I'm suppose to list 10 things that make me happy, then send to 5 other bloggers to share the award. This is such a hard decision since there are so many bloggers that inspire me. I've decided to put the names of blogs that I frequent in a box and chose 5 that way. It's kinda like random.org except we're going to call it RANDOM.BOX!

The random.box came up with the following:

Now, ladies, you will need to copy and paste the award to your blog, note who gave you the award with the link to her blog, and then pass the award to 5 more bloggers. Be sure and visit their blog and let them know.

Hmmm........ten things that make me happy:

1. Hubby (of course) - he's a sweetie

2. My children and grandchildren. I have two wonderful children (and their spouses) and two very precious grandchildren

3. Family and friends - just so many

4. Good health

5. Retirement - I'm loving every minute of it

6. Gardening - there's just something about "digging in the dirt"!

7. The smell after a rain - refreshing!

8. Rambo (no, not the movie) - our little doxie that is just way too cute.

9. Fishing - love to sit with a pole and cork and not care if I catch anything or not

10. Papercrafting - love it all!

Thanks again to Shelly - so sweet of you!

Beady-Eyed Birds

I'm ALMOST through with all my Valentine's Day cards! Yipee!!!! I had a lot to make this year. I may post a couple more but I'm ready to move on to something else now I think......

On this one I again used the Two Step Bird Punch from SU. I also used the Hearts embossing folder with my Cuddlebug and a MS Heart punch. The sentiment is from SU Well Scripted - such a pretty set of stamps. This was punched out with the Scallop Oval and Wide Oval. Paper used was Vanilla, Riding Hood Red, Green Texture and Love You Much patterned paper. I "popped" up the birds wings a couple of times to make them stand out more. The layout is a SU sketch challenge from last week. I used rhinestones for the birds eyes and they look a little different - kinda beady-eyed.

You Drank WHAT!!!!

Sentiment on the inside reads: "See what happens when you drink too much Pepto-Bismol! Get Well Soon." The first time I stamped this, I had two normal looking green frogs - and then I thought to give it some pizzaz I'd color one pink. So now we have a frog that just drank way too much Pepto-Bismol!

These froggies are just way too cute - I love the expressions on their faces. The stamp set is from Penny Black. The layout is from SCS Sketch Challenge 264. I used the Scallop Trim Border and Corner punches for the white frame around the image. Don't even ask me how I got it to come out "somewhat" right because I couldn't tell you! Pure blind luck I think. Anyway, I used Garden Green, Certainly Celery, White and Tea Party DP. The ribbon came from Wal-Mart. I colored the frogs with Prismacolor Pencils.

Let the Paper Do the Talking......

Yes, let the paper do the talking! This is such pretty patterned paper (Walk in the Park from SU) I didn't think it needed a whole lot more to it. I used the Beautiful Wings die from SU and have Cameo Coral and Baja Breeze butterlies (with a rhinestone in the center of each). The sentiment, which is from Close to My Heart, is so very pretty - "Love is like a butterfly, It goes where it pleases and pleases where it goes". The layout I used is actually last weeks sketch challenge from SCS - hey, better later than never, right!

Love is for the Birds........

This is for the Stamps R Us Challenge that you can find here. There were several cakes to use as an inspiration and I chose the all white cake. This card actually started out as being "all white". However, it was just looking BLAH! So, I added the black and just a hint of red to it. The white background and the birds have been embossed with the Swiss Dots embossing folder.

The Extra Large Two Step Bird punch from SU is so much fun. This is actually the second card I've made with it and will post the other one in a day or so.

I haven't really decided if this is a Valentine's, Wedding, or Anniversary card yet. I think it could probably be used for any of these occasions. I think it's just romantic looking.

Can't See the Forest for the Trees!

Did I get a little bit "busy" on this one or not! I can't find the image for all the patterned paper. You know, everyone (except me it seems) can mix patterned paper and it looks so pretty - but I do it and everything just kinda "get's lost" in the woods!! The more I worked on this card, the "busier" it got I think. I had it all finished and only had the one bottom piece of ribbon on it. It just seemed to need more, so I thought I'd add another piece of ribbon. Well, of course, I only had a small piece of that ribbon left (and was too lazy to run to town and get more) so instead of running it around the card I just tied a bow and attached it. It looked pretty good - and then I noticed it had an ink smudge right in the center where I tied it.............SO, I added a button to cover it up......Well, hello, if you add a button to one, you gotta add it to the other one too! So, hence the two bows and buttons. Ok, now it's finished.........and then, no, maybe it needs a sentiment! So, that got added.....Now what happened to that image....I can't seem to find it!!!!

Then everything got really strange......I'd walk by and look at the card and REALLY like it! Then an hour later I'd walk by again and say "oh my, that's horrid"! Anyway, here it is!

The image is from Mo's Digital Pencil (freebie) and I'm still not sure I like the digital's but thought I'd attempt a couple anyway.

In Flight

This card really came out pretty good but the photo looks kinda "washed out". I really need to work on my photography skills I think...........oh, well................

I'm not real sure what's going on but it seems like every time I make a card lately, I get it finished, it looks pretty good.......and THEN.....all I can do is criticize it and wish I had done this different, or that different, or whatever. I think maybe I just need to "back off" from it all for awhile - and then, at the same time, I just want to spend all day in the little craft room!

This is for Mercy's Sketch Challenge 56. I embossed the white background with the Birds and Swirls embossing folder. The butterfly is from CTMH and it was heat embossed using Outdoor Denim embossing powder - also from CTMH. I used Night of Navy, White and some unknown brand of patterned paper that I had. I added some pearls at the bottom, the ribbon across the card and the bow on the side.

Out for Another Spin

Just one more Valentine card completed! By the time Valentine's Day is over with, I have a feeling I'm going to VERY TIRED of pink and red cards!

This image is from an Our Craft Lounge set called Out For A Spin. It's so cute with all the little accessories you can add to it. I didn't get fancy (at all) with this one, as I just wanted to get it completed. I used Real Red, black and white and some unknown patterned paper I had. Did a little zig zag around the edges and that was about it. As I said - nothing fancy.....................

A Couple of Bugs

Yep, it's getting close to Valentine's Day - and I have so many Valentine cards to make this year it seems. I have 19 to make for family and friends. I have already sold a bunch to a speciality shop in a small town close to where I live and they said they may be wanting more......so I'm really attempting to keep them fairly simply for now. I saw this idea for a card on a blog I visited (here) and was going to CASE it. About the only thing that I CASED though was the stamp set, the ribbon, and the colors of the card. Once I started on it, everything just sorta started getting changed.

The stamp set I used is Love Bug from SU. I stamped the "bugs" once and then stamped them again and popped them up on dimensionals. The "border" was done using a MS punch in black and then again in white. I used Real Red, White, Black and Real Red DP on the card. And OF COURSE, I used my Bow-Easy from i {heart} papers to make the little bows. I did some sewing around the card - and "poof", it's done!

My Frist Digital Image

Yes, this is my first digital image! My thanks to Patty (here) who explained how to resize these little jewels! The image is from Mo's Digital Pencil on PCP.

For some unknown reason, the color of the kimono looks orange in the picture, but is actually pink to match the patterned paper. I had some problems coloring it (the ink kept smearing) but finally heat-set the image and colored it with SU markers and Prisma Pencils. The patterned paper is from Paper Studio and the cardstock is Gable Green, Pixie Pink, White and Chocolate Chip.

I kinda feel like I'm "cheating" by using a digital stamp and not putting the ink to the stamp, but I've seen so many cute digital images and thought I would try it anyway.

Just a Valentine Bow (And Heart)

This wasn't what I was going to post today - but for the CAS challenge at SCS the challenge was for a Valentine card and I thought this would qualify as Clean and Simple. I had purchased the ribbon last year at a flower shop that was going out of business. I must have at least 100 yards of this stuff.......and it's really kinda unique. The sides of the ribbon are like frayed or something. Basically, it has these little strands all over it (sorta looks like "hairy ribbon")!!

The heart stamp is from Soul Mates by CTMH. This was stamped in Versa and then Real Red and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. The bow was made with the Bow-Easy (of course). The white panel was made using the Heart Blocks embossing folder. I attached red floss to the top of the heart.

Just Ducky!

My mother used to have a friend they called "Ducky" and I don't know if this image reminds me of her or if it's just the "ducky" inner tube! Anyway, it's a cute image and alot of fun to color. This is actually my second card with it today - the first one was just way too "busy" and I decided I liked this one better.

The stamp is from Art Impressions. I colored it with Prisma Pencils and Bic Markers. The patterned paper is from Paper Studios and the cardstock is Pixie Pink from SU. I also used my Oval Nesties on it. ( I really NEED to invest in some more of those Nesties this year - but don't we all!) Oh, after I colored the image I cut her out and popped her up on dimensionals.

I took a picture of the inside of the card too but am not posting it because I couldn't get it to look right as far as size - compared to the front of the card. But I do have to tell you what I put on the inside: "Even though the bikini days are over..........You can still "turn heads" at the beach"!

What A Year It Was!

First of all - Happy New Year!
You know, I've only had this blog for two months, but what a fun two months it has been! Back in October I entered a contest that i {heart} papers was having. I had to create a card for challenges they were having each day for like 6 days and could earn "points" if they were posted on my blog, SCS, and PCP. I posted them on SCS and on PCP - but didn't have a blog. So on the last day of the contest I decided to ATTEMPT to create a blog. I didn't sleep a wink that night before just thinking about creating this blog. I felt like "The Little Engine That Could" and kept telling myself "I think I can, I think I can". The next morning I woke up and created this blog! (I actually won the 2nd Grand Prize in the contest, recieved alot of free goodies, AND was one of the Guest Designers for the month of November! What a shock THAT was!)

I've learned so much these last two months and feel that I've accomplished something I never would have thought possible.
I want to thank everyone for being so supportive and for all the wonderful comments you have left on my blog. They are appreciated more than you will ever know!
