Getting Messy

I got a little messy this weekend and threw this card together.  I needed to get a masculine birthday card in the mail today and was looking for something fairly quick and easy.  Of course nothing is quick and easy for me but it came out ok just the same.

I have three bottles of the Tim Holtz distress stains (blue, red, and yellow) and smeared those all over a craft mat, threw on some water,  and then smashed out a piece of water color paper over them.  After that dried I added the sentiment from Simon Says Stamp and clear embossed it.......squirted some kind of silver shimmer stuff on it and tied the twine.  This was mounted on black card stock and it's now ready to go in the mail!  Guess this is another one of those git 'er done cards - but I did have blue, red, and yellow fingers!

To Brighten Your Day

Going a little bright here today!

All of this was completed with the latest Simon Says Stamp kit.  The yellow for the light bulb was stamped in Momento Lux Dandelion and the the outline image stamped over it in black.  As far as lining up those boogers....NOPE, it ain't gonna happen with me!  LOL!  That's pretty well normal though.  I'm really thinking the solid image is larger than the outline one so that's what I'm going with!  I cut a piece of patterned paper that came in the kit, added the sentiment and heart, and then added a few enamel dots.  I covered the heart and light bulb with the Wink of Stella pen.  Fun and bright and maybe it'll even brighten someone's day!

Happy Squwak Day

Yikes!  It's Wednesday and instead of a camel to announce Hump Day, thought this bird could take his place.  We all probably feel a little like this on Wednesday - just trying to make it to the weekend!  Maybe instead of calling it Hump Day we should re-name it to Squwak Day!  Yes!

This adorable image is from The Alley Way Stamps and I love him to bits and pieces!  There's more cuties in the stamp set so if you get a chance, check it out.  He - no, I take that back.....it's a "she" with the pink added to her feathers.....Anyway.....She was colored with Copics with a little Wink of Stella added to those top feathers.  This is mounted on a piece of patterned paper from SU.  Clean and simple and yet gets the message across.

I'm entering this in the Be Inspired Challenge from TAWS.  Love the inspiration picture this week too.

Thanks for stopping by......and Happy Squwak Day!

Leafy Branch

I titled this card "leafy branch" - and that may be the actual name of the die from SU I used - however, am way too lazy to go look it up right now!  Nothing like a little honesty to start of the day.

Now, I don't even know why I'm telling y'all all this but......sprayed some Color Shine on the background (heavy handed), added a sentiment from a Simon Says Stamp kit, die cut the branch and smashed it around in Versa and then added Rock Candy glitter, tied a bow with twine, popped it up on a scored piece of white, AND popped on the sequins!  There.......got it all said in one sentence in case anyone bothers to read it!  LOL!  Even though you can't tell in the photo, it really sparkles and shines.

I love it when ladies say what they do on a card, but mine are pretty self explanatory so just feel a little dumb writing all that.  It's done though.  I also really like it when I see an image colored and Copics used are listed.  Maybe someday when I'm old and gray (no comment there!) I could do that too.  Need to refine my coloring skills a little before I do that one though!

I'll enter this at Simon Says Stamp blog - Glitter It.

Thanks for stopping by.......and have a great week!

Growing Wings

No,....I haven't grown wings just yet!  Maybe someday I'll look like this sweet little gal, wings and all, but in the meantime........we have a new challenge at Digi Haven themed Things with Wings and would love for you to play along for a chance to win a wonderful prize package from our sponsor Whoopsie Daisy!  Be sure and check out our blog for all the inspiration from the DT!

This sweet image is from Whoopsie Daisy and I colored her in Copics and sprinkled some white and gold Frantage (since I didn't have fairy dust) around her.  She's framed out in a SB die and then mounted on a piece of SU Bashful Blue card stock.  The background patterned paper is from "somewhere".

Head on over to Digi Haven to play along in our challenge!

It's Raining Happiness

No, it's not raining here as usual - but it is on my card!  The All Dressed Up blog is featuring new releases today so stop over and check them all out!  Cute, cute, CUTE - oh, and very pretty too!  You can find all the new releases plus so many more wonderful images in the All Dressed Up Shop.  Stop by the blog and play along in our current challenge for a chance to win some of these images too.  There's also Freebies available on the blog!

I used one of the little girls from A Time To Share and she's a doll with her umbrella.  I paper pieced the umbrella in a scrap that I had to match the blue in the panel.  This was mounted on a piece of pink SU patterned paper.  The "raindrops" were created with a stencil, embossing paste, and Rock Candy glitter. Pretty big drops of "rain" but I'm sure that umbrella will hold up!  The sentiment is from SU.

Stop by the All Dressed Up Blog to see some gorgeous creations from the DT and all the new release images.  You'll love each and every one of them.

How About a Little Tic Tac Toe

We're starting a new challenge at Tuesday Throwdown this week and we have a Tic Tac Toe for you.  Pick a row - horizontally, vertically, etc. and come on over and play along.  Our sponsor this week is Sami Stamps who also provided the images for us to use.  Be sure and stop by the blog and see all the wonderful inspiration from the DT too!

I've used this precious little puppy from Sami Stamps and used the first vertical row on the Tic Tac Toe board.......Bling, Paper Piecing, and CAS.  I paper pieced the balloon and of course it's CAS.  The bling....if you look real close this little guy has a red rhinestone on his collar.  He kinda reminds me of Rambo - minus the black spots and the rhinestone.  Can't see Rambo wearing rhinestones - and can't see Jim allowing it!

Thanks for stopping by.......and be sure and check out Tuesday Throwdown!

Wheeeee.......Spring Sprung!

A sure sign of spring down in the area is when the mesquite trees start to bud out.  We saw our first little shoots on those trees yesterday - SO, that means no more freezes and spring is HERE!  Even though we never get terrible weather like the northern states, we do get chilly so I'm more than ready for some warmer weather.  My pocketbook is extremely happy too since it won't be shelling out money right and left for propane/electricity in order to keep warm!  Guess that means I can spend more on crafts now!  Wheeeeeee......

This image is from Squigglefly (Sassy Cheryl) and isn't she a cutie!  I colored her up with Copics and framed her in a Lil Inker die.  The patterned paper is from "somewhere" once again and the background is embossed with a Sizzix folder.  That's all for today folks!

Streaking Splatters

I got the bright idea the other day to try some of that splattering stuff that everyone seems to be able to do - except maybe me.  It looked SO easy!  I did get a few splatters - but got a bunch of streaking splatters too.  I also did some of the stacking on the die - you know, yellow/white/yellow/white, etc.  Surely I didn't expect to line them up perfectly - and didn't.  So I'm working on lining up the stacks and splattering.  By the time I master these little techniques, they won't be the "fad" anymore.  Sigh!  It was still a fun card to try and with the yellow and green it just makes me want to get spring here a little bit quicker.

That Gator-ish Look

We have another challenge starting today at Digi Haven and would love to see you play along.  Our theme this time is Green - Use Three Shades of Green (at least).   We're being sponsored by Beccy's Place who also provided the images for this challenge.  Check out our blog for all the rules and all the wonderful inspiration from the DT.  Of course there's a prize package for the winner too.

I used Crocodile Baby for this card along with some patterned paper from "somewhere".  As far as green......no telling how many shades are on here but I do know there's more than three.  He's colored with Intense pencils to give him more of a gator-ish look and then I added faux stitching and twine to complete. Take note of those pink toenails on Mr. Gator - or actually I should say Ms. Gator with the pink bow and all too!

I'll enter this in the challenge at Pinspirational Challenges (inspiration photo) and Cards in Envy (Think Green Challenge).

The Cat in the Egg

Y'all really thought I was talking about The Cat in the Hat - right!  Nope, today we have the cat in the egg!  She's from Deedee's Digis and if you played along last month in the progressive challenge you've already received this image.  If you didn't play along, it's ok because you can purchase this adorable set and enter this month - and then next month you'll receive a free image!  This set not only has the cute cat but also a little hen......plus they not only have the line version like I used but also the pre-colored ones....plus sentiments galore.  Are there enough "plus's" to all that!  Stop by Deedees Digis and you can find the challenge and the shop all in one place!!!  We'd love to see you enter this month!

Instead of using the pre-colored one this time, I decided to use the line version and color it myself in Copics.  I also added a little strip of rhinestones to the egg and then used the Wink of Stella pen on the pink polka dots.  She's framed out in a Lil Inker die and then popped up on the polka dot patterned paper.  This will go to one of the granddaughters for Easter since it's loaded with pink and the rhinestones.

Not sure if I need to clean my computer screen or not - but all that white is motley looking to me!  Reflection, dirty screen, bad photographer, or what!  If you're seeing what I'm seeing I need ideas on how to fix that one!

Tent Topper Birdie

Another challenge begins today at Tuesday Throwdown.  Our theme is "tent topper card".  We're being sponsored by Robyn's Fetish who also provided the images of our challenge.  Be sure and head on over to Tuesday Throwdown to see all the inspiration from the DT and enter for your chance to win a wonderful prize package.

I'll have to admit I've never made a tent topper card and was even a little unsure about what it was.  I guess this is what it is though - and if not, it's done just the same.  I used some old SU paper for them and then framed out the little bird in a Lil Inker stitched circle die.  Matted that with a nestie and then added some white dots with my gel pen.

Looks like Spring is on the way now!!!!!!!

Be sure and check the Tuesday Throwdown blog.......and thanks for stopping by.............

Ride Like the Wind

Thought I'd squeeze this card in the middle of what's going to be a very busy week - card wise - for me.

In hindsight I see all kinds of things I wish I'd done different with this card - but what's done is done and it is what it is.  I recently purchased some small feather dies and had to play around with them a little so smushed out some distress inks on my craft mat, misted them down a little with water, and then ran the feathers through it.  I originally had three small feathers on here and it just looked funny - then had two small ones and that looked a little weird too......so ended up with one big and two little.  I didn't want them to take away from the image  too much and to just add some color.   The big metal brad is from SU I believe and it reminded me of a battle shield like the Indians used to carry at times.  Did you know that they were mostly made from buffalo neck!!!  This one, however, is nothing but metal since I didn't have a buffalo handy so Jim could whip up one for me!!  LOL!   The image - from Mark's Finest Papers - is called Bold and Free.  This was stamped in Momento and then I did some doodling around the sides (and may have gotten a little carried away with that)!

I'll enter this at Speedy Fox and Friends Challenge (Metal) and at Pixie's Crafty Workshop (snippets).
