The Nesting Bird

I was NOT going to post this card but just couldn't resist. I'm STILL laughing.............

I decided that I could make one of those little flowers that everyone is doing right now. So I got all my gear out and decided to make it out of newspaper (mainly to see if I could actually make one). Anyway, I got it made and tacked on the card, showed it to my husband, and asked him what he thought (sometimes it's best NOT to do that)! Here's the conversation.....

"Hey, I really like the little bird nest." So, I'm looking around and say "What bird nest?" He points to the card and says "THAT bird nest - but you really need a bird in it!" He was looking at my flower!!!!! I felt like I was six years old again showing a picture I had drawn to my mother and she didn't know what it was! Anyway, I punched out the little bird and put him in his "nest"!! I'm still laughing.........

By the way, I used Old Olive cardstock and Good Morning Sunshine patterned paper. The branches were done with the Little Leaves die and the bird punched with the Bird Punch. The sentiment is from Hero Arts Everyday Sayings. I added the rhinestones under the sentiment. And yes, the bird is "nesting" on my newspaper flower!

Thanks for stopping by.............

Lynn

I like the colors on the bird. Love the layout, especially the sentiment and bling.

I think this would have been beautiful as a flower but it does work with the bird on it too.

Your story is funny. I have one like that too. I made a card with a tropical theme on it, including palm trees. I punched some circles from brown and added little brown dots to resemble coconuts. My hubby asked to see what I made (he really does seem to be interested most days) and he said, "Why did you add bowling balls to the card?" :-)

Sometimes it is best not to ask your other half his opinion, I know, been there done that, lol lol. But in this case the bird fits perfectly on his nest. I love the flower, I made one from newspaper too, the only complaint I had was how the ink rubbed off, think a print book would work better for me, did you have problem with that? Glad you posted and shared the card (and the story).

Well that is men for you!! :) - how do you make the flower? It's the first time I've seen this flower. Card is great and love the dual purpose 'nest/flower'. See it's very versitile embellishment - best wishes Lelsey x

Oh Lynn that's too funny. Sounds like something my DH would say. Great card, nest or flower doesn't matter still wonderful.

That is funny Lynn! Yes, why do we ask our husbands? I think the bird looks great and the flower/nest looks fabulous. Most time when I ask my hubby his opinion...his answer is "it's crooked"
now I don't ask anymore!! ha ha
