Missing the Mark

I don't know about y'all, but when I sit down to make a card I get all these brilliant ideas in my mind.  They seldom look like those bright ideas I had and then Murphy's Law kicks into gear!  If one thing is going to go wrong, all of it will!  This is one of those cards.

I started off with the Stampendous monkeys and vine.  Got the vine stamped in the circle thingy and then stamped the monkeys.  Cut those out and then tried to place them "on the vine".  Oops!  Missed the mark there a little bit but it's got some of the dimensionals on the back and those things will not come loose for any reason.  That one monkey on the right looks more like he's just making a fist and holding onto thin air!  LOL!  Keep going Lynn.....it will get better!  Added the clouds and sentiment.  Oops once again.  Smudges!  I never know where those things come from and really think they appear just to aggravate me.  Anyway, added the enamel dots to cover those.  There's a little tiny bit of blue in that patterned paper that I was matching with the blue circle........snapped the photo and that blue in the paper has turned purple!  Where was my mind (or light) when I glued that stuff down because it really IS purple!!  Oh well.....it is what it is!

Thanks for stopping by..............
Lynn

Your booboos ended up looking adorable. The circle looks blue on my computer. I've had days exactly like you day making cards, so I do know what it is like, but in my opinion, no problems with this card. Enjoy the day.

It's that back part of the hand that loves to transfer smudges! Monkeys are one animal that can fly through the air, and not be questioned... shhhhh! Cute!

Lynn, you are so funny..loved reading your post. I think the monkey with the fist is just trying to grab onto that vine. Your card is adorable.
I do hate when things change colors when I photograph. And, I HATE smudges, so I do sympathize with you when things go wrong. But, this one turned out great.

Love the card and the story that goes with it. The purple paper made me laugh out loud (only because that sounds like something I'd do too). Maybe your monkey is flying from the branch behind him to a branch we can't see :-).

I think they are all delightful accidents and if you hadn't mentioned it, no one would have noticed! But your card is adorable and the little enamel dots are perfect accents! What cutie-pie monkeys!

Love your card Lynn with all the imperfections. Sometimes our best work comes out of Ooops's. Adding the bubbles was a bright idea.

Oh how cute! I love how they are hanging from the vine and those dots add so much dimension, they look great! Great card!

ROFL! You had a day just like I had, Lynn, only your card is marvelous and mine went into the 'round' file. There was simply no saving mine from the onslaught of smudges. I'm beginning to think smudges are like gremlins -- only it's "...never feed them after noon time." Love the monkeys whether they grabbed the vines or not. :-D

LOL Im so glad that Im not the only one that has all those crazy things happen Lynn!! In spite of it all I LOVE it, the monkeys make me smile and I love the colors too :)

Had to laugh about all the woes on this one! At least you caught them before the photo posted, and then you see it, as I do a lot! Yep, the paper had a purple look, but it really was pretty with this card. The monkeys are cute & I like the way you did that vine. This one made me smile, and that's a 'good thing' as Martha would say. It's cute as a monkey. Well done. TFS & Hugs

Aw, Lynn! You're much too hard on yourself! This looks fantastic to me!!! :) I think we've all been in your shoes and I got a good laugh at your story because, boy, can I totally relate! It's kind of like hitting all the red lights in town when you're in a hurry!!! :)

It turned out to be a cute card anyway, but I hear your frustration! Monkeys don't need to be anchored to anything - they fly all over the place, so there's no need to attach them to the vine. The enamel dots belong there and look great! Don't fret-your card is fun and looks great!

smudges. AUGH! Enamel dots are fabulous for that :) Maybe it's just nature's way of telling us to add more embellies!
I happen to LOVE this card - but I recognize your process too. lol!

You crack me up Lynn! Your card is simply adorable and if you hadn't pointed out that the right monkey wasn't quite holding onto the vine, I would have never noticed it. And even now to me it looks like he just is in mid-air of his jump to grab a hold the of the vine. Smudges? What smudges, no one would have known you had a smudge because you recovered from i so well. The enamel dots look great! Now the paper, it didn't look purple to me until you pointed it out but I still think it looks great with this card. I love this card, I think it is creative and very adorable!!! So stop beating yourself up. lol Hugs, Brenda

I can SO relate to Murphy's Law in the craft room!! Color mirages...that too! ALSO - can't tell you how many times I have a card "finished"...snap a photo...look at the photo to see...some QUACKERY!!! Missing a brad, something incredibly NOT aligned or centered...entire area not colored in.... The camera DOES NOT LIE! Very cute card even with Oops-a-daisies!

Marilyn said...

ahahhahahah... all I can say is that we should be stamping together! Monkeys flying outta the sky, that's us!
Despite your sad tale, if you hadn't said anything, it wouldn't be noticed, in fact it still isn't. It's a great card Lynn.
And yes, that is why God gave us embellishments... to cover up our boo-boos.

When monkeys fly...lol
I think it is really cute. I think it looks cool and if you watch them on the documentary shows, they do sort of fly through the trees!

Great card!

A really fun card. I love those monkeys, the clouds, how you fussy cut and mounted them, and that border down the side makes it all shine!!
