How About Some Snow

I thought I'd started out in a pretty good humor on doing all the Christmas cards for this year and actually enjoyed making most of them.  We're getting down to the wire here and they seem to be getting pretty clean and simple now in order to get finished.  And to be honest........I'm tired of making Christmas cards!!!

But, since I do love Christmas and it only comes once a year.... here's another one......

This card is made with Kraft paper and a couple of strips of more Basic Grey DP.  The image is from Beyond the Fringe and was a freebie.  Isn't this snowman just so perfect!  Take a minute and go check out this great site.  I know you'll love it.  Anyway, I printed it out on the Kraft paper and then again on white.  I cut out the images on the white one and popped it on top of the one that was printed on the Kraft (didn't want to have to cut out those little arms so they are showing through from the one printed on Kraft).

We NEVER get snow down this far in Texas - well, I'll say very seldom anyway.  When it does snow here the schools close for several days, numerous auto accidents occur (no one knows how to drive in that white stuff down here), and adults become little children, out building snowmen and throwing snowballs (have you ever tried to build a snowman out of about a half inch of snow!!!).  We always say if it's going to get cold down here it might as well make it worth while and go ahead and snow!  So, bottom line here is that if I can't have snow, I'll just have a snowman on paper!

Thanks for stopping by..........oh, and I'll be having another Funny Friday this week - so grab your sunglasses and get ready!

Lynn

I just adore this card! I am so happy you explained how you did it because I didn't know how you got your snowman so white on Kraft CS with ink. Brilliant idea to paper piece!

BTW, so glad you like the horsey card. What a great story!!!

I really like this C&S snowman, and those borders are a great way to use up those left over pieces of DP! Great idea to layer him up in white, and I seem to be making a lot of last minute cards using kraft too! Great job!

Wow Lynn - I love this card! Even though it is summer here at Christmas-time where I live, I still love snowman and snow and many of my Christmas cards have them; I just can't help myself. Maybe it makes me feel cooler when it is 100 degrees outside? But I do have relatives in the USA and Wales, UK so it gives me the perfect excuse to make "snowy" cards!

Lynn, it was so clever the way you printed out the image on kraft and white cardstock - I never would have thought of that in a million years. Great little tip!

LOVE this, Lynn! Your paper snowman is perfect against the Kraft (one of my favorites)! :) Up here, the first snow is pretty & fun. Those that follow are "just more snow." :)

Another wonderful Christmas card! Your snowman looks great with all of the fussy cutting! The striped border and the bakers twine trim go so well with this image and paper!
Our first snow of the year usually has quite a few accidents with it as well (I think people forget from year to year...) but then we will have major snowfalls with ice and everyone is out on the road trudging to school and work. I'll be wishing for a weekend in Texas come January!

Your card is just so cute and wonderful! I laugh when I hear you on the snow thing. I am from Reno, NV and drove in snow for years. It never stopped anyone there. Now I live in NC and it's the same here as where you are. Even freezing rain stops them. They close schools....laugh!! Pres. Obama's kids couldn't believe it when DC schools closed because of snow.
