Well, it's another HOT day here in Texas and it got even hotter when hubby decided to re-do the electricity outside - something regarding him running his saws, nail guns, etc... So at 10:00 a.m. he says he's going to cut off the electricity in order to work on this - but it will only take a few minutes! YEAH RIGHT!!!! At about 1:00 this afternoon we finally had electricity (and AC) back in the house! Whew. It was almost cooler outside!!! I kept thinking "hey, I'm ok. I didn't grow up with AC in my house"! Wrong! I was really getting "not ok"! Isn't it terrible how we depend on little things like AC! Anyway......
This card reflects a little cooler weather. The image is from the Countryside set from SU! Such a peaceful image. LOVE the old pickup - it reminds me of one my father had. I used Cherry Cobbler and some textured chocolate brown on this. It's colored with Prismacolor pencils and the background is sponged with Kraft. The buttons are extremely old. Several years ago I bought an old Mason jar in an antique store and it was filled with very old buttons. Some of them are just so different than anything I've ever seen before. I paper pierced the top and bottom (Cherry Cobbler), but you really can't see it in the photo. I think this would make a great "guy" card for Birthday, Father's Day, or just because.
This is for Always Playing With Paper challenge - the theme being Vintage and for a challenge at Pals Paper Arts - the theme being Masculine. Vintage, to me, means something very old and rustic looking - I think the pickup and the old buttons qualify.
Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend.......
Thanks for stopping by.............
Lynn

Great job, love this stamp, but I don't have it, so will have to live through you. Cherry Cobbler and Chocolate Chip are perfect for this. Great job. Men are funny aren't they? They pick the funniest times to do things. I agree, I need my A/C.
What a cool image and you did a great job with it. I love the warm colors.I'm sorry, I just had to giggle when I heard about the electricity.Im glad you got it back on.
Lynn, what a perfect masculine vintage card! This would qualify for the current Pals Paper Arts challenge too...go link it up girl! Glad to hear you have AC again...it is hot here too and lots of smoke from forest fires...might rain this weekend, we are all praying for it.
Smiles,
Lesley :)
I really like how you kept the coloring on the truck subtle except for the bright apples. I have a lot of vintage buttons too. Well... I don't know if I can call them vintage if I bought them myself and have just held on to them for 25+ years :-)
This is beautiful. The combination of vintage truck with vintage buttons and natural twill is genious!
Oh dear Lord, Lynn! How in the world did you stand that heat??? EEK!
The card is delightful and definitely has me longing for fall. :o) I LOVE Cherry Cobbler (isn't it *wonderful*?) and it is a lovely clean and simple vintage card. :o)
Gorgeous masculine card! Beautiful colours and real attention to the details. Wonderful! My husbands favourite thing to say when he starts a project is "This won't take long." (More often than not, it does) lol
Very cute, love that image!
super card - don't you just know when men say it won't take long it is just never going to happen - and hours later you are still waiting lol - glad you got your air con back so you could cool down - I don't have air con in the house but I would miss it in the car best wishes Lesley x
I love how you chose to use minimal color with this sensational image!! Your card is awesome, Lynn!! Truly awesome!!!
Beautiful card Lynn! I love the image. You dressed it up nicely with the buttons. Great colors and coloring.
Love the rustic feel of this card. Great button accents. :)
Wow, do I ever love this creation! You gave this image such a fresh look with your color palette, great design, and only coloring part of the image. Wonderful work.

Lynn, I love this card. Those vintage buttons are perfect. What a fantastic find the Mason jar was. I hadn't really paid much attention to this set - but I really like what you have done with it.

Beautiful image...one of my favorite sets from the new catalog! The cherry cobbler is a great color choice! Masculine and vintage...perfect! And as a member of both design teams, just let me say: Thanks for playing @ PPA! Thanks for joining us at Always Playing with Paper!
Terrific manly card! I love that you only colored in the apples in the back and the sign. Great job with your prismas too. Love your piercing in the corner. Did you use a tool? I've got to get one of those!
Maria
Love how you choose to only colour part of your image. Looks great!
I really like what you did with this image with just the little splash of color on it. I've been debating about this set...hmmmm now you really have me thinking lol. Wonderful masculine card. Stay cool..our weather finally cooled a bit and we could open the windows again :)

I love your masculine card! That truck is a wonderful image. Sorry you had to go without AC for awhile, I think it's hot everywhere. Come on October! At least we can feel cooler making those kinds of cards!
