Couple of Cards

Just a couple of easy cards for the holidays.  The wreath image was found in a stack of stuff that seldom sees the light of day.  Slapped it on a card and we have a merry and bright card!

This second card has a story.  The stamp I used is from Stampin' Up and was one of the first stamps I ever bought there.  It's also the stamp I used on my first hand made Christmas card way back in (I think) 2009!  YIKES!  I have to laugh now, but the cards I sent out that year were all the same with this stamp being used and had so many layers on them they weighed a ton - plus this really textured ribbon from Stampin' Up.  Several weeks after Christmas I got one of the cards back in the mail - and then got another one, and another one.  All were fairly torn up from the post office machine because they were all so thick and bulky.  I'm not sure how many ever received their card but I doubt many actually made it to who it was going to.  Another reason why I keep my cards clean and simple now.  The embossing folder I used is older than dirt and is also one of the first I ever purchased.

Thanks for stopping by........and keep smiling........
Lynn

I like the technique of slap it on a card. As far behind as I am, I may have to use that! I can attest to their being nothing wrong with old (I mean with the stamp and embossing folder, of course). It makes a cute and cozy card and the embossing folder doesn't go out of style. Great card and this one should be delivered just fine.

These are both so beautiful and the type of cards that evoke a sense of peacefulness for the Holidays. Learned the hard way on bulky cards through the mail too! LOL Always better to keep them simple if possible! Great cards Lynn!

The post office actually had the nerve to fine me for a letter they say jammed their equipment up. I was furious but it did no good to complain. Now they charge extra to send cards certain thickness.

Both cards are perfect CAS cards. The second one really stands out in the embossed frame. Great job.

Hugs and Blessings

What a gorgeous wreath card, Lynn! Love this layout and all that white space that lets the wreath be the star! I still have the cottage stamp and I know what you mean about the need to keep cards CAS. Postage is too high to have our cards torn up in the machines! Love this in the soft colors and that beautiful embossed frame!

Two lovely cards. I still have some of my old Stampin' Up stamps...and I still use them. I started my blog in 2009, and that is about the time I started stamping. Yes, my cards had lots and lots of layers on them. The cards that I have to put in the mail have less layers on them these days. If I can hand deliver a card...they sometimes have extras...Like ribbon. It's hard to believe that a Knot on a bow can cost me an extra stamp.

Thank you for nice comment about my fabric card. It really is a very quick and easy way to make a card. Just have to make sure your fabric has no wrinkles, and lay it on a flat double sided sticky sheet, and cut around it. the sticky paper keeps the fabric from fraying.

Such lovely cards!! Beautiful wreath on your first card and love the scene on the second card with the embossing!! Yes, it’s difficult to send bulky cards through the mail. And, extra postage, of course, cost extra. I’ve been trying to do more simple cards, but at times I don’t. I just go with my creativity! Have a great weekend!

Love this first card, that wreath image is just gorgeous Lynn! I also love the story behind the second card image. Love it and loved the story! The image is so pretty...don't remember it though. lol That is so funny about how layer up and fat your cards were. Yep, so much easier with CAS cards to mail. lol We all have lived and learned haven't we?!! I have this embossing folder too and love it. I just need to use it more...need to use all my embossing folders more! Hugs, Brenda

Gorgeous CAS cards, Lynn! The wreath is beautiful and so is the little winter scene. Yes, I remember my first Christmas cards and I too made all the same design back then. I don't think I could do it now as I would get bored with it. My cards used to be bulky with layers and ribbon too, but not any more! Love your embossing folder on the second card! Trying to remember if I have that one and now I'll have to go check! Wishing you a wonderful day!
